What is your opinion on the Nokia Lumia 640? It is worth it?
>>57114912
I bought one, regret nothing.
Excellent battery.

Never.
>>57114912
make sure windows phone has apps that you use.
if so then yes, its a fine phone for $30
>you will never install XP for the first time again
>>57114905
Just install reactos
>tfw too intelligent to install anything for the nth time
>>57114905
Good. It was horrible piece of shit when it released. I don't want to relive that.

I want a netbook that is affordable and good for daily college use.
Price range $200 - $250
What are your suggestions?

Are Asus ROG laptops quiet and cool?
I'm looking into buying one
The model is GL502VM(identical to GL502VT except for the graphics)
Why people pay for this shit is beyond me. Linux is far more privacy orientated and doesn't crash as often.

>Paying for pajeetOS
Not ever
>implying I've bought my windows copy
>>57114854
People like vsync. And sound. And software, because the point of an OS it to, you know, run that.
anyone using cubase? worth a switch from live?
>>57114750
Fl studio if you're not a macfag
>>57114750
Just use reaper

Are voice controlled intelligent personal assistants (Alexa, Google Assistant, ...) the future?
Even SoundHound got into the game:
https://www.engadget.com/2016/10/17/soundhound-s-voice-assistant-lives-inside-its-own-speaker/
Who will be the first to put assistant into a humanoid robot body instead of a tube/vase/D20?
Why is open source community not jumping on that train as well?
Open source assistant would be the most hackable / flexible one. It would have the most potential to become the software that runs our robot butlers and waifus.
I live in a major city and not once have I seen anyone using their voice assistant on a phone. When is this meme going to end?
>>57114692
it just fucking sucks. the best implementation we have right now is to capture the sound byte, ship it to a data center for crunching (wasting bandwidth and compromising privacy) and comparing the interpreted result to a bank of pre-defined queries. cleverbot tier shit.
so, to answer your question, no. not until we have a solid engine for interpreting spoken language. and not just English, mind you.
>>57114770
in public it makes sense not to use them.
But when you are alone or with small group of people, using voice to make machine preform some task becomes much more viable option.
hi /g/,
Why is it that when I torrent something, say from piratebay to utorrent, i get 2mb download speed max when my internet speed is 25mb down (tested to be true on internet speed test). how the fuck do I unlock the rest of my internet download speed???
You need premium utorrent for that.
You're still limited by however fast others are uploading.
>>57114535
Divide bits by 8 to get bytes.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-17/how-apple-scaled-back-its-titanic-plan-to-take-on-detroit
Apple already decided they won't build a whole car themselves
The entire auto department (which will now focus on developing autonomous driving systems for partner vehicles) will be canned if they can't produce a viable prototype by end of 2017.
Apple, a company with hundreds of billions of dollars in the bank, can't make anything other than thinner phones and tablets.
When is Tim Cook going to be removed as CEO?
>>57114486
They didn't want to spend more than a few billion dollars.
They thought they could build up the car manufacturing supply chain like Tesla did for a lot less, but they couldn't and weren't willing to spend $10+ billion to replicate Tesla's system.
>>57114471
>Apple scaled back it's titanic plan to take on Detroit
They must ave realized that you can't "take on Detroit" with autonomous cars.
The real solution for Detroit is autonomous, armed drones.
Yes.

Who /dumbphone/ here?
I want pic related but can't bring myself to spend $300 on it. is there any alternatives that aren't shitty throwaway phones w/horrible interfaces?
Experiences with dumb phones? has it changed your life at all vs using a smartphone?
>>57114367
>$300
Come on anon....
>>57114367
I wanna get a dumbphone to play java gayms on. I just don't enjoy touch based games, they are all the same. I'm thinking about getting a Sony Ericsson C510, I had one before and it was nearly perfect. Ran pretty much anything I threw at it and didn't lag like my sister's Hazel which ran like shit all the time, lagged like hell even after disabling all the flash animations, and fell apart after a year due to it being a slide phone.
Anyone feels like chiming in?
>>57114367
>300$
I've been searching for three days and two nights why every game from modern MMORPGs to old indie titles runs at the same low framerate on my pc. Turns out they run just fine in fullscreen windowed, so why not in proper fullscreen? The reason is more than a decade of stubborn retardation:
Intel HD Graphics vsync is shit. It is unmitigated, unapologetic, unusable shit, and you can't turn it off! You could before, but somewhere around 2002 Intel decided that "the ability to turn vsync on and off isn't needed in today's sofware", so what if it's needed even 14 years later!
Apparently the only way to run games properly at full screen would be to install ancient drivers with a still functional Intel HD Graphics Control Panel that had all the basic functionality of their competitors, but where are you going to find them from when Intel itself claims it doesn't store it's old drivers? Hell, I'd say they're lying about that because not even having a copy of their own old software would be retarded thing to do from any corporation, but in the light of what they already I'd consider that entirely expected from them!
It gets even dumber though: As people have complained about this for over dozen years, the response of Intel has been that it's their fault because laptops aren't for gaming. Right, so this 3D-ACCELERATOR CARD which would be perfectly fine for the games these people play, isn't for games, so they break the options needed to make it work. Fuck you Intel, fuck you so very much!
>>57114338
>gaming
>laptop
Pick one.
>>57114338
There is no 3D-ACCELERATOR CARD you dumb fuck.
>>57114368
Gaming laptops are overpriced shit, but even regular laptops can play less-demanding games.
Hi /g/, I was gifted a desktop with an i3 8gigs of ram and a 7790. Should I upgrade the CPU first or the video card?
