What torrent client would you recommend to use on Gentoo Linux? Google churns out 5 results:
- qBitTorrent (piece of shit - when trying to download a larger archive SIGABRT is caught with a std::bad_cast exception and the program just fucking kills itself - retards)
- Transmission and Deluge (unable to setup due to qt4/qt5 bullshit)
- Vuze (requires Java, and so it can suck my dick)
- KTorrent (I don't have KDE installed and am not even sure I can/want to install another UI library)
transmission with webui
>>57123006
I already listed Transmission as being unable to setup for me.
I've been using qBittorrent for years in my Debian machines and it just works.
In fact, everything works. Why anybody would be so retarded to subject itself to a clusterfuck OS whose only benefits is bragging rights in anonymous imageboards is beyond me.
anyone else here retired (in 30s)?
do you know anyone else like you IRL?
i just post here randomly and laugh at all the kiddies doing babbys first programming.

The only real negative I see in this phone is the non-removable battery. Should I still pick up an Honor 5x? Or are there better smartphones in the price range of under 250€?
New phones only, well-known brands and phones preferred, no Chinese shit.
(Newfag in terms of smartphones here, searching for a nice phone to replace my old LG G2 mini)
i'd say stay with lg phones,
huawei wants to become some chinese overlord like apple is in america with their proprietary systems
comparable to samsung but they lack the knowledge to compete against specific features like the camera
i switched from oneplus 3 to huawei p9 and now to the lg g5 which finally hit my taste in regards of playfull thinking.
the added 135° wide angle camera for example is a fabulous thing to play around with everytime i do photos with it.
the only feature i'm missing is the added functionality of the fingerprint sensor to make certain gestures, like scrolling down the notificationbar or webpages. i heard the google pixel does this now too.
let's see what the LG G6 has to offer

Hi. I have recently switched from Windows 7 and 10 to Kubuntu. I like it a lot so far, however I feel like it's really buggy. I feel like I should try another distro.
In your opinions, do you think I should try Lubuntu or Debian? For follow up,
A. Do you think either of these will be less buggy?
B. If Debian, what DE should I go with?
Thanks
>>57122835
I'm interested in this as well, I'm about to ditch Windows. I only tried Debian for a server.
What bugs do you encounter?
>>57122835

Kubuntu feels great, and I feel like it really did the trick to get me focused away from Windows.
However, I am finding a lot of bugs with display and themes, and how they interact with different apps (sometimes the themes are different in Firefox than they are in Midori, etc).
I am also finding a few weird things when I configure settings and they don't "stick".
Overall though, if I had to choose Kubuntu or Windows, I'd stick with this.
Hope this helps.
how often do you useman command/g/?
>>57122774
I'm such a retard, I usually search and read the manual online. I never use the command line.
Sometimes. Normally i use man [command] >>> comand.txt to read ion the gedit.

Can we have a thread about DVD burners? They really are amazing technology
The high heat used in the DVD burning process can reach temperatures of up to 800 degrees celsius -- enough to penetrate the crystalline structure of a DVD-R and permanently mark it with pure thermal energy without scorching the surface.
Basically, the thermal shield inside the drive is rated for 800C for a hypothetical 1x speed burn of an entire DVD. In layman's terms, that means the heat shielding in your drive was only meant to handle 60 minutes of constant use from the burn. Anything more and you risk the heat-resistant drive seals starting to melt... and then once the cheap-quality steel your drive is mostly comprised of is exposed to the laser, you can probably imagine what happens next.
It takes about 20-30 minutes for the heat to dissipate and the thermal shield to relax again at a safe temperature -- but usually modern DVD writers are a bit faster. And remember, most DVD burns are complete in minutes flat which reduces the likelihood of something going awry and a laser literally melting your PC. So you should be able to get around 100 DVDs in.
DVDs are quite fascinating; the way high thermal energy reacts to etch the crystal in the DVD itself is really neat. You can see after the burn how the crystal turns dark in response -- unlike normal crystals which would shatter from being spun due to centrifugal forces at such high heat. Plus they're one of the fastest-cooling materials known to man. As soon as the burn is complete and the system verifies that the disc is safe to handle, it's already cooled enough to just be warm to the touch.
I would recommend getting a professional-grade DVD burner if you need to do more than 100 DVDs per session, or to at least take frequent breaks. This isn't something you want to joke around with.
Anyway, DVD general!
