Think about it like this OP - you know how so many people shit on Ford? Why is that so?

Since they are one of the most common cars people buy, they are likely to have more lemons/duds, and just shit quality.

If I have 10 out of 100 Honda cars with serious defects, versus 100 out of 1000 Fords with defects, more ford owners will be angry than Honda owners.

So since everyone's had a dell at some point, they get pissed off. People don't know how a computer works, or how to make it faster. So when their shitty consumer model with 2gb of ram, bogged down with system logs and browser history/cache is full, and shitty HDD lifespans, they are going to get angry.

But as far as quality goes, they are bottom dollar just like any other consumer-device manufacturer. I would keep the laptop because you got it for free, who gives a fuck what other people think?

Besides, if you wanted quality from them, you would look at the latitude and precision lines. It is no different than how HP has the elitbook, and lenovo the thinkpad. Once upon a time acer(travelmate) and panasonic were relevant, and even IBM and toshiba made nice units.

I spent way more time on this than I should have but life is already worthless anyways :^)
