i could get a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge X130e with 4 GB/ 320 GB HDD for 129 euros - can /g/ recommend this machine? would run xubuntu on it. any interesting alternatives out there? looking for a small machine i could carry in my messenger bag all day.

I don't know much about the ThinkPads, but here is my experience with the one I did get to use for about a month making soundtracks in ableton:
Cons:
>small screen
>tiny cramped keyboard
>pretty ugly desu
>the textures of the keyboard and the mousepad felt 'off'

Pros:
>will survive a nuclear apocalypse

I'm just trespassing on /g/ so don't take this as an informed opinion

i have an x131e with these specs (see image)

had to replace the harddrive with an ssd after 1 year. the screen is shitty bc not bright enough. ubuntu gnome runs smooth, no complains there.
the touchpad is abysmal, trackpoint is ok tho.
this things weight is also a point to consider, way to heavy imo

1: Get a license
2: Get a monoband HF radio, about 50 dollars will get you going. Splurge a little bit more and go for a Ten Tec Rebel

>also, its possible to talk with people all around the world with it?
Yes. If you know what you are doing. See A above.

You might want a better radio like one from Elecraft

How long before AI becomes decent?

So far it's pretty gimicky, every single company just throws "machine learning" and "our app learns the more you use it" in our faces, and hope that it sticks.

This is not a "yes or no" question.

AI's are already in use and they do a good job. The question is what we use them for. AI's are all different.

Pic related is what i currently have standing at home since a few years, i've been getting some blackscreens recently and i cannot use it for work projects anymore.

I work a lot in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign - recently i've also been learning and working in cinema 4d and after effects, but the computer i got at home cannot handle that so it's time for a much needed upgrade.

I don't have a lot of hardware knowledge so i've been doing some intense reading but im still left with a few questions.

Things to take in mind:
>I use the computer for my work projects in photoshop, illustrator, indesign, after effects and cinema 4d
>i make music in Ableton - im using an external usb audio interface, akai eie pro, which runs all my audio in/out
>i play shitloads of games
>optionally, a firewire/thunderbolt connection on the mobo would be usefull for future audio interface upgrades

So im looking for something that would perform good for work&games and has a fast&secure storage.
Because i am also recording in my room i will need silent cooling, my current case and VC fans are so loud they make recording almost impossible.
Motherboards having stuff like gold plated jacks are kinda useless for me as i use an usb audio interface to run all audio, but something like "USB DAC-UP" (like on GA-Z170X-Gaming G1) would probably be usefull as it would help to minimize the noise.

That being said, im kinda unsure if i want to go with Z170 or X99. And im not sure if buying two gtx1080 right now is a good idea or if i should wait for the 1080ti (i also heard evga fucked up this time on the 1080s).

Here is something i pictured:

>Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Xtreme Gaming Water cooling Video Card (2-Way SLI)
>G.Skill TridentZ Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) DDR4-3466 Memory
>Samsung 950 PRO 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
>Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
>be quiet! Silent Loop 240 65.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

And one of those CPUs
>Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core LGA1151
>Intel Core i7-6850K 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor 2011-V3

Any advice?

I don't get it. I bought one for 25€ but I have no idea what they are for. All it seems to do is roughly track how many steps I'm taking every day.

What are they for?

This is the shittiest wearable of the current year
>>
Did you not read the description?

It just tracks steps and heartrate. That's literally it.

What did you expect for 25 Euros?
>>
because you are fucking retarded, OP
it shows time, can track your sleep via apps like "sleep as android" , can track your heart rate, it's like a wearable for people who are interested in sports. so not for people like you. if you didn't know what that was you shouldn't buy it in the first place.
