Which graphics cards hole up very well in 2016?
7850
7870 GHz/XT
660Ti
670
All have 2GB and are in the same price range, are there some benchmarks who test these cards with modern games?
>>57669788
I'd like to get graphic with her holes if you catch my word expression.
>>57669788
still have a 7870 xt at 1200 OC (975 stock). And at 1080p it's showing her age on some of the new unoptimized triple AAA games like the new forza and deus ex. But i'm playing W3 and Das 3 right now and it's performing pretty well.
W3 1080p high without hairworks, medium shadows and foliage distance and it runs at 55-70fps and DAS 3 at high without motion blur and medium texture quality since 2gb is a problem in this game. I get at 900p constant 60fps and at 1080p 55-60fps (i choose 900p over 1080p on this one because the frametime on das3 are all over the place if it doesn't run at constant 60 for some reason maybe it is because the 2gb are too limiting?)
But if you are getting one now i wouldn't recommend it. This thing consumes electricity like a starved whore and it gets pretty hot and as far as i know mine is a rare one for overclocking that well since the 7870 xt is basically a 7950 chip that couldn't reach AMD standards to be a 7950. And I've heard that most don't overclock well at all. And 2gb are pretty tight for 1080p and it's only going to get worse.
If you are looking in the second hand market look for a r9 290 4gb or a 280 3gb as a bare minimum
>>57670042
thanks for the input.
yeah these are some solid cards even today. But I was looking for a card around ~50€ and 280/290 are usually a little more expensive.
/G/uru's I need some help. How the fuck do you bypass the Windows 10 installation usb's write permissions? I've edited the registry, I've used diskpart. Am I doing something wrong? Right now I have a GPU with a bricked bios and I need to get the back up on it asap.
That's a man, baby
>>57670053
Still kinda cute.
Would do xyr/10.

Kys my man
I've heard that GPU RAM is going to become more important in the near future for video games and performance. Am I wasting my time/money looking at cards that only have 1 or 2gbs?
>>57669502
Yes because even iGPUs have more RAM in them natively.
>>57669502
Big dogs fucking hate this
>>57669502
Modern consoles have about 6-7GB of usable RAM, we can safely assumed half of it is for video stuff so anything above 3.5GB is safe... today...

What a fucking retard. All that hate for Apple has caused him to lose his mind.
Guy is so fucking stupid that he doesn't even know about USB 3.0 interference with WiFi. He should have used a shielded USB 3.0 cable and not some cheap chink shit.

Incredibly underpowered. Time to upgrade.
>>57669173
If you could read chink then you could order one of their mips processors and build a better looking laptop from scratch. The Lemote really isn't all that powerful, especially compared to a Thinkpad from last decade.
>Captcha: Chinese streetsign
Not worth it. Particularly since MIPS support amongst distros is gradually being dropped.
If you really want a fully libre computer, you can run the OrangePI with a custom compiled firmware and bootloader.
More work than it's worth, but completely possible.

trying to move jobs from my shitty half dev / half application support job to a full dev job
but all the postings are for java devs. I've only worked with python for the past 3 years, but if you tell me to write a java program i'll be able to do it.
in your experience as a senior/recruiter/hrgoblin do you instantly turn down candidates for junior positions if they have experience but not specifically relevant experience?
>>57669071
If you can do the job without fucking my dog or setting building on fire... you're hired.
>>57669071
I would try an internship. I personally wouldn't hire someone for Java who doesn't have experience in it. If it's some obscure language, sure, I can see why someone would think "He'll figure it out" but for something like Java there is no reason to hire you over someone who's been a Java developer for 10 years, except maybe if you offer to work for free until you get a good grasp on the langauge, which I wouldn't recommend.
>>57669442
can't really afford to do an internship or "work-free-to-prove" kind of deal, I'm the breadwinner for my family so if I can't bring in money i'm shit outta luck

We had a formal design methods module last year. It was entirely based on Dijkstra's work and the laws of calculus, predicate calculus etc.
After a while I simply realized that most of the proofs were simply making statements about the truth or non-truth of a given line of code.
Ended up doing okay in it. Got 80% CA and exam was 70-something. Last lecture I asked my math prof -- "Why would we ever proof a program ourselves if a compiler/interpreter could do it better and faster?"
His response, "Ask Edward Dijsktra."
>kek
What do you think /g/? You've all probably dealt with Dijkstra wannabe professors before. Is there tangible benefit to his coding beliefs in 2016 or as higher level languages evolve will it even matter in the future?
>why would I ever do a thing when I could just rely on the work of people smarter than me to do it better
