Is there a way to completely silence my PC, even under heavy rendering or gaymen load? As in no audible sound at all?

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise?

Put it in another room and run cables.

not likely, that thing generates too much heat.

maybe with some really good water cooling, but water pumps are pretty much never silent.

A good thread I was replying to died because of you

Basically you can't redirect or capture light at the back of your phone? Then you can't do that.

With Apple "exiting" the wireless router business, does anyone else think they'll just add a wireless router and Siri support into a future Apple TV which displays via an AirPlay HDMI dongle?

Other router manufacturers, Chromecast, and Amazon Echo status = BTFO pending

>Apple began shutting down the wireless router team over the past year, dispersing engineers to other product development groups, including the one handling the Apple TV

Today my friend said that "base64 is a hash and salt algo that you can use with telnet to secure it with only one octet of overhead". When I asked him what a hash is he said "SOMETHING WHICH encodes and encrypts with optional salt". I tried to explain to him that base64 is simply another base similar to binary, decimal and hexadecimal and has nothing to do with encryption but he insisted that I was wrong. I also tried to explain to him that a hash function is not used for encryption and it's one way (unlike any base) but he wasn't able to comprehend that.

How can I help him understand what base64 and hash functions are?

Show him your masterful command of crypto technology using ROT13. Let him triple encrypt with ROT13 and then you can decode in one simple go. He will be suitably impressed.

And please report back how it went.

hai /g/uise

I got these. They are running via chinch-phone connector on a rtl onboard sound card. The volume on these things are just at nine o'clock so they are not even turned up a quater and been never turned higher than that. When I put low frequency (sinus generator at around 80-90HzHz) through it, one of them recently started to buzz (only one).

These things are with ~500$ not the cheapest and have a really deep and full bass for their size (you don't even need a sub).

Any idea what could cause the buzzing? I don't think a mere line out from an onboard soundcard can put out that much power and them being turned up not even a quater of the full range, there shouldn't be a reason for them to get damaged, or?

I am not a professional, but are they clean? Did you drop the buzzing one on accident? Is the cable fully functional?
One of my speakers is buzzing a bit aswell, but I don't really notice it.

What's a good cloud storage site?

Before my brother passed away (cancer, back in 2012) he slipped me his password, so I could delete the nudes. Now, I'm the only one left, and don't have people to DBAN my computers after I'm gone. I know, I'll be dead, but I don't want to have people be disgusted with me. With online storage, I probably only need a good password and they'll never get in, right?

Here's the issue
>Have nudes
>Have encrypted SD card with the files
>Also backed up on external drive
>Currently also saved on laptop
>Getting new PC in maybe a year, want to have solution before then
>Pretty sure "hard copies" can be broken into, also worried about stuff like drives/SD card failing

I need decent storage capacity, as well some assurance of security. What does /g/ recommend?

On a similar note, how do you transition to more... I don't know, web-enabled content? Literally everything I have is stored offline, I rarely use shit like box, X-Drive, or anything. Music, pictures, movies, etc...

I feel like I'm 10 years behind techwise.

>I am a filthy casual

Just encrypt your drives? Why would be have that shit in a cloud service?

Honestly can't tell if this is b8 or not, but just make multiple accounts with Google / Microsoft / Mega, divide and compress everything up, encrypt it (encrypted zips are fine, apparently, but they make me feel dirty) and upload it.

It'll take ages, I'm not sure what you'll gain, if anything. Why can't you archive it offline?

how do i prevent malware on windows partitions from tampering with my linux disks? even if everything on my linux setup is encrypted, couldnt malware intercept my /boot/ in some way to end up compromising it? or is the only way around this just to not have the drive plugged in if i'm booted into windows?

plz assist installnig debian right now but i forgot to consider this before i started

By not having malware in the first place you fucking retard.
>>
>>57683227
Windows can't read ext4 file system. It won't even detect your partitions. Unless you have some advanced malware that rapes your BIOS and infects your whole drive, you should be ok.
