NSA has done a pretty god job at keeping citizens "safe"

Hi /g/uys, I'm having an issue with my pc, where seemingly at random, my pc will freeze. No BSOD, no blackscreen, no errors, no sign of any issue, except. On start up, all my icons are moved to the centre monitor, and i log in, the device disconnect sound plays rapidly for like 5-6 seconds then stops. I have googled this extensively, but no one has my specific problem. Other than these issues, everything runs fine. I thought it was caused by my new usb hdd, but it so far still made the disconnect noises on startup while it was un plugged. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

tl;dr pc freezes and makes rapid disconnect noises

Just an update. I'm on an nvidia gtx 1080, with up to date drivers. The issues only started after the new watchdog drivers were installed.

Hello /g/ I need your help.
I accidentally deleted an important file from my desktop. It's a .docx file, it should be easy to recover, right?
I've been running Recuva and Disk Drill but no luck! What software would you recommend for windows 10?
The things I know:
Last time I opened the file: 25/11/2016 at 1:20 a.m.
The full path was: C:\Users\user\Desktop\doc_p3.docx
Any, literally, any help would be so appreciated.

lol dumb normalfag

Look up in the directory for cached/recoverable files in office tho

>I accidentally deleted an important file from my desktop. It's a .docx file, it should be easy to recover, right?

Make a linux usb, like Ubuntu and boot into the usb, then have a look in the folder. Often you can find the file sitting right there where you left it before deleting it. It's just not visible to windows. I have done this before, because when you delete it, it's not really totally gone.

If that does not work then there are other ways, but involves more work.

So my new CPU is arriving today, so I looked up some videos to remind myself how to install it properly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLVHFaokdgA
skip to 4:50.

Is "curing" thermal compound for your new CPU necessary?
Does it actually decrease temps overall?
Is this something you guys do when installing a new CPU?

Or is this just bullshit?

>>
>>57789478

Yeah you gotta cure it nigger.
>>
You have to cure it on a full moon or it doesn't set properly. Avoid eclipses. If you apply your paste on an eclipse, it'll fuck up big time.
It helps if you chant while applying it, as the tantric soundwaves help settle the heat particles in the thermal matrix.

Hey /g/.

Any of you have several tech products from the same brand?

Did you end up with the bunch of products from the same brand, because of brand loyalty or on accident?

I have a Dell prebuilt PC and a Dell monitor because both were the best deal at the time.
>>
>>57789218
My GPU and motherboard are both made by gigabyte however not really brand loyal to them.
I also really like fractal design cases.
I guess I also am pretty loyal to steel series mice, feel the best to me.
>>
>>57789218
I'm loyal to AMD because they contribute a lot to libre software and their desktop CPUs just have all features like ECC and VT-d enabled, unlike Intel who create 1234 different artificially gimped CPU variants with different feature sets to maximize profit.

This is embarrassing.

I was on Omegle (not jacking off for once) and someone threatened to hack me. Naturally I clicked "next" and not 5 minutes later, my computer blue screened, then restarted. I ran System Restore and Malwarebytes as soon as everything seemed normal. So what happened and do I have to worry about anything?

Your computer now has digital AIDS. The only known cure is to wipe your hard drive, install gentoo and swear upon a 2D girl of your choice to follow rms in life and death, and to defend software freedom wherever you can.

You weren't jacking off. Jacking off keeps your computer's security working. You dropped the ball here, or cock.

So now that the entire West has gone full 1984, how can I make absolutely certain a new archive computer has zero ability to connect to the internet? Should sensitive data be stored on any computer at this point? Should we start memorizing everyfuckingthing as epic poems again? God damn it I fucking hate the rich.
