Surface Pro 4 vs Alienware 17 R4

I recently ordered a AW 17 R14 (specs to follow) and i am looking to start trying to learn graphic design and simple game development, both have their advantages and disadvantages (AW seems to have almost non) but I still have about 25 days to return it and I would like to ask people with experience with both which is best for a beginner.

I carry one, its only 8gb and it has Porteus in it. I will use it on any computer that is available that isn't mine if I ever needed to use it.
