So my new CPU is arriving today, so I looked up some videos to remind myself how to install it properly.

Is "curing" thermal compound for your new CPU necessary?
Does it actually decrease temps overall?
Is this something you guys do when installing a new CPU?
Or is this just bullshit?

Yeah you gotta cure it nigger.
You have to cure it on a full moon or it doesn't set properly. Avoid eclipses. If you apply your paste on an eclipse, it'll fuck up big time.
It helps if you chant while applying it, as the tantric soundwaves help settle the heat particles in the thermal matrix.

Thanks for redpilling me on curing.

But why? Does it actually do anything, like decrease overall temperatures? Proof?

Yeah it does lower temps, by 3 or 4 degrees. Basically, wait a while before doing oc. Do stress test before hand too make sure you proc is good and temps have settled..
For normal people doing normal things it's no big deal.
