which xscreensaver(s) does /g/ use?
currently i use xjack on my work laptop and bsod on a netbook i have plugged into my stereo system
>screensaver
My monitor was made in the last 30 years so the default dpms support in xorg-server turning it off is fine.
None. What would be the point of using one?
>>57792012
They were created before the VESA standard for dpms came out and displays would burn in if the image stayed static for too long.

Why is it so complex?
I thought it was just a special tip configuration that the touch screen could read. Some static rubber mount and a simple touch screen tip on a basic rotation hinge. Let the touch screen do the work, this should never need a battery let alone that much circuitry.
Sad.
>>57791997
>this should never need a battery let alone that much circuitry.
Found the CS major.
Leave EE to smart people please.
>static rubber mount and a simple touch screen tip on a basic rotation hinge
No.
So say you have a 3.29 GPA, and you're in your senior year of a shitty CS program with no internship or work experience related in the tech field, you also have a shitty GitHub page with two average projects on it. Would you be able to get into a masters program at say NYU or CMU? If not, is there still hope for you?
>>57791281
Wouldn't your GRE scores and recommendations matter?
So this is the end for me isn't it? I guess some of us are really made for the wreckage
Why do you need to get into a masters program, and specifically at these two places?
Reminder not to jump on the AMD hype train again with these new rx 490 benchmarks that just came out.
Why are you pretending the 980Ti and Fury X weren't within shooting distance of eachother?

What tech do you want for Christmas, /g/?
Baby, all I want for Christmas is GNU.
Intel NUC Kit NUC6i5SYH
My dad buys me everything so I never go "wanting".
How long did it take you to copy and download the whole Wikileaks website? So, far it's taking me over 7 hours of downloading, to download a little over 1 GB of the site.
How many GB do you think it will take to download Wikileaks?

>>57791198
thats like 40kbps are you using a torrent?
>>57791234
Nah. There's no torrents for everything. I want all the leaks. I did download the partial stuff that's in torrents, but I still want all of it.
OP here. Somebody's fucking with my Internet, trying to keep me from downloading it.
I have AT&T and my internet frequently goes out for about 3-7 seconds and then comes back on. It is completely random, AT&T doesn't know what the problem is and just switches out the modem and that doesn't help. What the heck do I do?
>>57791190
Bump
Might be on their end with one of the nodes. Could be "noise" in the lines ask them to check that shit. Had that problem too a while back
>>57791745
This! Instead of bitching about it anonymously, call them and ask about it. Sounds like it's an issue on their side that should be easily fixed.

/dpt/ anime is the best. OOP meme GTFO.
An express app. Ridiculously simple, I'm surprised I've made it this far. Deploying it using docker and a raspberry pi with resinos, which is fucking amazing.
I downloaded all banners from 4chan.#include <stdio.h>
int main(){
FILE *fp;
int i;
char FCDN_LINK[] = "wget http://s.4cdn.org/image/title/";
fp = fopen("./wdown.sh", "w");
fprintf(fp, "#!/bin/bash\n");
fprintf(fp, "mkdir 4chan_banners\n");
fprintf(fp, "cd 4chan_banners\n");
for (i = 0; i < 251; i++) {
fprintf(fp, FCDN_LINK); fprintf(fp, "%u.png\n", i);
}
for (i = 0; i < 252; i++) {
fprintf(fp, FCDN_LINK); fprintf(fp, "%u.gif\n", i);
}
for (i = 0; i < 223; i++) {
fprintf(fp, FCDN_LINK); fprintf(fp, "%u.jpg\n", i);
}
fclose(fp);
return 0;
}

Whats the app do?
Libfags payout for promoting hilldawg.
Do you even use CLI for anything other than looking like you're hackering?
I only use it to install and remove packages. Everything else just seems nicer with the GUI.
>>57790994
Macfag here. I'm using it for batch-renaming files, downloading many files, converting between audio formats, etc. Basically any kind of automation.
>>57790994
Is this fucking bait?
>>57791037
I like CLI for things where I know the path and can easily get there. Gui for things that I don't intuitively know or require frequent tweaking of the parameters. (webm conversion, for example)
Healthy balance.

Why doesn't anyone build a recliner specifically for PC use? I can't be the only one who finds a full built in leg rest and thick soft padding to be vastly more comfortable than the thin hard padding on high end ergonomic chairs? I can't even sit in those things for long without wanting to die.
>lol just put a mouse and keyboard on a normal recliner
I've done this but it's far from ideal. The angle of your wrists is wrong and it gets uncomfortable. You'd want the ability to adjust the arms.
>just get one of those things that looks like it's out of a scifi novel
They're really not comfy either. Not enough padding and no or poor arm support.
There would be a huge market for this. A regular old recliner modified to percectly attach a monitor and kbm.
Let's kickstart this thing reddit!
A mixture of consumer inertia and small market. Most people are content to sit at desks/tables to use desktop computers as the surface also provides space for other things/activities, whereas a recliner does not. Beyond that, most people who want recliner-level comfort while they do computer stuff are usually just going to use a laptop with a pad for heat mitigation.
There's not much of a market for a desktop recliner.
>>57790878
>ground level technology
The mouse is comfy enough with a wide armrest, the keyboard is ok on the lap but if I need to be productive I am far better off at a desk. It makes a great sim when I roll the wheel setup in front.
Good luck with your kickstarter, almost nobody seems to care, just look at how unpopular comfystatiom threads are
Thinkpad 13 $580
Acer Laptop Aspire E 15 E5-574G-54Y2 $400
HP 15-ay013nr 15.6 $430
Which of these are the best for Music production and coding in linux? Cpu is very important and light gaming is good too.
It's gotta last me at least 2 years.

>>57791248
I'm going to use ableton live a lot I'm gonna do some programming on Linux (I'll be making a partition) I want it to be able to emulate old games and have it be pretty fast as I browse the web and watch movies and use it for assignments.
>>57791410
If you're going to be doing music production then definitely the Aspire E 15, and even this is a little flakey in some aspects; you'll definitely want as powerful a CPU as you can get, but you also need a larger screen, hence the Thinkpad 13 being a little cramped for a DAW.
Have you considered saving up and getting the Aspire V17, or the ASUS ROG GL552VW? Those would be fine, the i5 6200U is gonna feel cramped when you really start digging in deep with live interfacing with Ableton.
I'm struggling to get my head around the cooling for my current build. I understand different pressure types, but the issue is now PWM or non-PWM.
If I understand correctly, and pertaining to this build of mine, I've got a case that comes with three fans included but they're not PWM, they're 3 pin.
IIRC PWM is good because it's not a constant fan speed, it ramps up and down depending on required cooling. Something which is great for CPU/GPU coolers, but what about the Case itself?
I only ask because when I buy the rest of my fans, should I be getting PWM or non-PWN. If it's PWM, then I have to get another two making five, whereas if it doesn't matter I can just make do with three.
Is this something that most people overlook or do they refit all their Case fans with PWM/4 pin ones?
Bump, bls educate me.
What case do you have?
I wish to build this case and make it hover.
