Thanks, I get it now.
Alright /g/, I'm replacing a battery, and I notice this dent. It's a "brand new" battery 100% legit from china. I know it's shit, but it's all what we get for a 5 year old phone.
Do you think this dent is dangerous? Phone is working fine for at least 24 hours, should I buy another one?
>>61157822
Unless it starts swelling or is hot without being plugged in or in use you're fine.
>>61157822
>100% legit from china
lol
>>61157845
It's definitely not hot. Not swelling too...
I'm worried because those Note 7 batteries explored due to similar damage.
I really don't think I can even remember the last time I even used one. Literally the last purpose I had for them was for operating system images, and even that has been replaced by bootable USB flash drives now. I have no use for an internal DVD drive. It's just taking up unnecessary space.
Music? Movies? Games? Audiobooks? That's all online and downloadable now.
Yep, though you have to take in account the amount of people who can't afford to have an internet connection, or at least one that doesn't limit their data. Also there's information that is very, very difficult to find on Internet.
>DVD
I bought a BluRay burner several years ago for back-ups after my backup HDD failed right before a catastrophe. I'd rather spend a little more time backing up and not have to worry about a dead drive when I need it.
>>61157575
I still use CDs to share files with people at work because the retards I work with are either losing or stealing all of my flash drives. CDs are cheaper and all of the office PCs have an optical drive.
Why does Linux not really have any good music players? The only GUI-based one I've found that's halfway decent is Clementine, but there's really nothing comparable to MusicBee, Foobar or Winamp. It seems ridiculous to run a music player in Wine but I'm almost at that point.
>>61157326
what's the issue with vlc?
What do you want to do with a player clementine does almost everything great.
>>61157326
cmus + dropdown terminal is pretty good.
What do you look for in a music player that you haven't found?
iPhone 5S:
>still getting updated (iOS 11)
Galaxy S4:
>last major update was Lollipop
Both phones are from 2013. What happened, bros?
Carriers issue the updates for android, fuckface.
Both phones can still use recents apps so who care ?
You can also install lineageos on the Galaxy S4.
Newer itterations of Android don't slow down older hardware, so instead of doing what Applel does and force people to upgrade with badly optimized software updates, they just stop supplying software entirely. That's why the S4 has custom ROM support all the way up to Nougat, and probably beyond. Meanwhile past itterations of the iPhone have no chance of updates.
Is Ubuntu Kylin the new official Linux desktop?
It's a Windows 7 clone with software to keep normies happy such as WPS Office and Foxit Reader. It's officially supported by Canonical.

No, KDE Neon is the official Linux desktop.

What are smart contracts?
I've read Wikipedia but I still don't get it. I must be retarded. How can software ensure you're not getting robbed for example?
>>61156993
contracts that fullfill itself when a certain condition happen. its being used in cryptocurrencies and blockchain tech now. for exemple. take a uber like solution that will take your bitcoins and transfer to the browser when you get from point A to point B. or some bank investment that when a certain asset gets to a certain price the bank will add x credits to your account, those things happen in a cloud and its transparent and there is nothing someone else can do to break the contract (unless its on the contract itself). if we project it even further law students will start to take programming classes.
>>61157100
i mean driver not browser sorry.
>>61156993
> How can software ensure you're not getting robbed for example?
one way encription grants the contract will fullfill itself without the possibility of hacking. unless the code is shit. we had the DAO hacking. so its possible if the contract was badly written. just like actual contracts, if its bad people find loopholes.
Anybody know what this is? Found it at a concert and it caught my attention.
Veg peeler for scale

Its got some holes in the bottom

What are you working on, /g/?

Udemy courses are made by shitty programmers that were scammed by other shitty programmers, it's a vicious cycle.
I recommend you learn from books.

>>61156441
I think the UI should be tweaked for bezelless phones. Reaching for the very bottom with your thumb feels so uncomfortable. Actually I think it would be cool if you could emulate the bezel and turn it off when you want to go fullscreen for viewing.
>>61156475
Ok Trump. Not all of us have manlet hands.
>>61156489
That's not even the problem of the size. Your thumb just isn't supposed to bend all the way down there.
