Thoughts on buying a course here? I'm an absolute noob when it comes to programming, and I want to get my feet wet.

Udemy courses are made by shitty programmers that were scammed by other shitty programmers, it's a vicious cycle.
I recommend you learn from books.

Coursera is better.
Udemy quality varies a lot.

Udemy has some good courses mixed with 98% pajeets teaching what they don't understand.

1) see the rating of a course before buying. look up comments of people who rated low stars. if their complaints are mostly retarded, just buy it. if they have good reasons to complain, stay away from the course.
2) if the teacher has a weird accent, repeats himself, awkward, etc. don't bother buying the course. you will regret it. for this reason you should always check preview videos.
3) wait for discounts. udemy is a weird site that does discounts up to 95% (!!!) multiple times a year. i recently bought like 10 courses just in case, and it cost me less than 150$.
I spent $20 on that site. Worst investment ever.
Seriously, just find a good book on a topic you're interested in. So much better for learning.
I bought three courses there and they're all shit.
3d modeling/pixelart/illustratour courses, found better ones for free on youtube.
In this day and age education is free.
Take the CS50 course at edx
I'd trust a Harvard course over paying for random pajeets

Wait for discounts its cheep. Never use mobile to buy. Good stuff instead of looking forever on tubes. Good one on color correction/premire and unreal c++
