I started a diet a few days a go. My rules are No bread, no sugar drinks, no cookies/chips or whatever. I've been getting massive headaches though. Is this a normal thing? I've been eating more fruit and vegetables just because theres fucking nothing to eat, im eating healthier and feeling crappier than ever.

Alright fit my shins hurt like shit from running, i have running shoes and run on concrete because i have no choice, and was wondering if i can still run but not have pain, also when i run i run pushing off my toes. Also admittedly i used to run but put on some weight,(chubby, not obese or anything) so do you guys have any advice?

Am i fucked, i really don't want to lose momentum, i ran 5 times last week (1.89 miles in 15 mins) and stopped and hit the gym one day and tried running yesterday and could barely make it, i still completed it, just walked alot more than i would have liked.

at the gym today and I deadlifted 3 pl8 for a 1 rep max :,)

then a gym bro that was at the nearby squat rack gave me some tips to improve my power and grip. He then proceeded to demonstrate and lift those 3 plates like it was nothing.

I believe in calories in, calories out to a certain extent. But I find it hard to believe if someone has a healthy diet, (no processed foods etc.), that they could become fat as fuck from eating a couple servings over the serving size.

I don't think I'd ever hear , "well it was that extra portion of pistachios that made him fat as fuck"

My thinking here, is that someone who eats 200-400 extra calories a day in real food, vs. someone who eats extra calories in McDonalds every day, would probably put FAT on slower.

How is this book for beginners? I'm a 5'10 manlet weighing in around 345 fleshy pounds. I did do some weightlifting many years ago primarily with barbells and dumbbells. I've tried doing cardio through the last however many years but always lost interest. It's time to get serious about weight loss using weights. I found this limited set of particular barbell exercises concentrating on proper form and lower body workouts where I can really burn some calories in my legs.

Being that I'm a piece of garbage in my mid-30s, I would be starting off with even a bar on my squats if need be or fucking guided presses. Would this book be good for beginners?

Don't blame Rippetoe for you letting your body deteriorate into a fat sack of shit. The book is meant for people wanting more strength and mass, anyone else should consider doing another program such as some kind of cardio thing to lose all your excess weight and then pick up starting strength.

And yes, some people are weaker than average and can't press and empty olympic bar and shit. My advice is to use your head and perhaps find another bar that isn't too heavy for you.
