I've been thinking lately about getting into serious lifting, only been fucking around for a few months... I just got my gloves from eBay, but couldn't find a good helmet. Any recommendations?
>>42731463
A baseball helmet will suffice. Make sure to get elbow and knee pads too

don't overthink this stuff as a beginner

shiggydiggy
I just did my first muscle up, and then a few more after.
I'm 79kg at 175cm, been trying for a while.
Is this considered an achievement? How hard is it of a thing to do?
its mostly a technique thing once youre able to do a couple of pullups
>>42731505
It's definitely much harder than pull ups
Hello /fit/, skinny fat here.
I've been reading the Starting Strength book which is great, but I need a solid routine. I was thinking combining calisthenics, since I need to be more flexible in the sports I play. (Soccer, track) I couldn't find anything good online, so I could use suggestions. Thank you in advance.
Why does fit hate salt so much?
Ill typically get anywhere from 4,000 mg to 6,000 mg in a day
I have not seen one single post talking about salt any time recently, and I have not left the house in eight days.
If there is one thing I learned in my travels across gyms is that gains can change the nature of a man.
Whether powerlifting, curlbroing, crossfit — whatever makes you get gains, it can change.
I've seen gains move cities, make men stave off death and turn a fatty's life half-circle. Gains damned a girl whose heart clung to the hope that her fat boyfriend would still love her after getting fit, when he did not.
Once it made a man want to leave humanity behind and achieve it. And made this DYEL spirit think that it is something more than a part of me.
Fear gains. Gains have power.

>I HAVE COMMITTED MANY PRS ACROSS MANY LIFTING SESSIONS. I GO NOW TO A PLACE OF GAINS. YOU CANNOT LIFT WITH ME.
How did liftan and /fit/ change your relationships/dating?
I feel people are more negative towards me, thots just wanna bang ok? but no relationships even though I try to be "boyfriend" material, when I was skinnyfat I had nice gf's that would make /fit/izens jelly. And the constant talking down from friends and relatives (don't get too thin, why are you so insecure, why you gotta be so violent [[Lifts violently]] etc.)
Is liftan really that great? Do you tell people you go the gym? Does it all have to do that when we wasn't liftan we didn't give a shit a.k.a. Chad attitude, and now were more insecure after being conscious about our bodies?
>>42731048
for the better
yes
yes
what?
>>42731065
Well that was concise, but how do they react to you liftan?
Last question is about that isn't it more Chad to not care about gains and "just do sports", instead of obsessing about what amount of weight you lift, which will never be enough.

Is it possible to build muscle on a caloric deficit if I meet my protein macros?
>>42730761
Yes, beginner lifters will increase their lean body mass while cutting on as much as a 40% deficit, as long as protein is kept high and they strength train.
It depends if you hit PR's in the gym or night.
Seems like 90% of retards on here think their gains are made in the kitchen when in-fact your diet is fucking meaningless if your performance in the gym hasn't improved.
If you eat in a calorie deficit, hit protein requirements, and gain 50 pounds on your deadlift, yes, you'll gain muscle.
Same way if you ate in a calorie surplus, but your lifts never went up, you'll not gain any muscle, despite being in a surplus.
If you're a beginner or you're still just doing bodyweight like me, yes.
I do diamond push ups every day and pull ups whenever I can, almost every day, and most days I'm eating under 1500 but I eat mostly meat and veggies, nothing sweet or artificial, and I'm making noticeable chest, back and arms gains. But that's because I'm a beginner, obviously.
What are you eating /fit/? Found these the other night and tried them. Not perfect but it's a pretty good filler when you're wanting pizza.

Nutrition facts if you're curious
I went through a three year period where I followed a lot of Mark Rippetoe's training philosophies. The usual shit: don't worry about your abs, eat big, lift big, and focus on getting progressively stronger over the long term. I did that and it was kinda cool. I got a little chubby, strong as fuck, and felt good about myself and my progress. And just like he said, you really don't end up being that fat in the end. You're just thicc
BUT, I recently decided that I want to lose some weight and take a shot at being a cute little musclefag, so I hopped on some roids and returned to my brosplit in the gym.
And let me tell you, i can not even do a fifth of the work capacity that I used to be able to do back in my beginner/bro-split days. I ohp 225x5 but I am having difficulty seated db shoulder pressing the 70s for sets of 10. I squat 500 but am having difficulty just doing leg press work with 4 plates. I can barely do 3 sets of 10 on the curls without being fatigued.
I don't know what it is man. I am just conditioned for a hard ass 5x5 workout followed by some light accessories. That is what I recover best from and how I am adjusted. This high rep shit is literally impossible for me. The reason I want to point this out because even though on paper Rippetoe's theory of endurance exercises becoming easier (because the stronger you get, the more sub-maximal those endurance reps are) makes sense, it just doesn't work out in practice. I dunno man. There is an element here that is not being accounted for and I don't know what it is, but Rippetoe is missing the memo on something here. I feel pathetic not being able to complete one of my old school hypertrophy workouts despite being strong as fuck.

Solid advice
>Do you focus on grip strength? Why/Why not?
>How do you train for it?
>As if being able to outman any overcompensating manlet's unnecessarily tight handshake doesnt give you a semi.
do fat grips work? I've never used them but I do sumos and hold the pussypad used for squats as a grip thickener and it gives me crazy forearm DOMS, is this a waste of time or not?
I really want to get better at calisthenics, to the point where i could do a whole calisthenics workout without my grip becoming an issue, should I isolate forearms or just keep training and maybe they will catch up?

I added farmers walks to routine. Been pretty good so far

I did this to a point where they take over for other muscles and it fucking hurts.
