What exactly does resting entail? Is it just sleep, or does your body recover when staying still? If i sit at the computer the remaining hours of the day aside from the gym am I more "rested" than if i were active?

Don't forget that your body is a one big unit and everything works together.

This is why sleeping is the best recovery for your body. Almost everything in your body is at rest in that period.

Computer is a good way to rest your muscles yes but sleep is much better.

Also interested in this. Whenever someone mentions daily pushups in his videos Scooby says it's dumb but I've heard a lot of people vouch for them in terms of muscle definition. In regards to OP, I go 3 days on / 1 day off, 100 pushups in the morning / before bed split into smaller sets
