OP here..
I just realized that the "cap" is like a primitive sort of vent. Basically it's like a bolt, picture , with a top piece on it that screws into it as well, and presses this sort of rubber (or some old shit, it's all dirty cant tell) thing more or less against this hole which is in the main part of the bolt like piece. Sooo, that hole was actually blocked with paint, and the inside was dirty. So I got it to the point where I could blow into the hole on the inside end of the bolt, and get air through. just enough, then screwed it back on with the main part pretty firmly in, and the top adjustable piece a little bit out. This should let just enough steam out that it wont matter, but it wont let air come gushing out at 60mph like it was before in bursts....
Which tells me that that particular verical pipe isn't venting right.
Basically it's 4 floors and me and my 4th floor neighbor (3rd here) are the only ones occupying this "C" section of the apartment.

Anyhow, this should minimize but allow air exchange, just slow the rate down. Hope there is still a virtually complete loss of the noise, though...pray.

Pics? The knocking comes from the original pipes below the radiator, as the how's ages, the supply pipe moves and gets out of its optimum angle. Why would you take off the cap? Your system will not explode, those caps are there for a reason. You have 2 vents that vent the system for your apartment out...

I've worked with boiler over the last 7 years.
But I need pics.

Generally on steam rad not getting a heat call, we just pop on a new Hoffman vent. It's like $7.00 and teflon tape is fine to use being sure to use a little piece and not block the orifice.

Sometimes there's a Gland in the valve that's worn out. But checking that is probably beyond a DIY experience since you could accidentally break the valve and those a not cheap.

Don't jerry-rig a steam rad, it won't explode, but the steam can hurt you, cause a sulfur smell in a room, cause mildew, or the boiler could run low on water and frag itself if run dry.

Just like the steam valve on your rads, the automatic water feeder valve and low water cut-off on the boiler can fail. So don't "Assume" that the boiler is in good working order.

Best advice? Don't do anything that could leave you holding a bill for a new boiler.

Go to your local plumbing supply house (NOT A BIG BOX!!!) and see about some new Hoffman steam vents.
$20 bucks and your fixed.

the 4 pins on the 2.5" drive and the 8 pins on the 3.5" drive are designed to be used with jumpers.
They activate settings on the drive and are also used by the OEM for debugging purposes.

If both SATA connectors are attached and Windows is not finding the drive, the logical conclusion is that the drive isn't working.

If you can hear it spin up, then that means the drive is getting enough power. If you hear continuous clicking, then the drive isn't getting enough power and you're probably also getting blue screens in Windows.

The bottom drive on your picture has an 8 pin connector on the right, you don't need to worry about that. If the 2.5" has a similar 4 pin connector ignore that too.
In the olden days you used to have to tell a hard drive how to behave on the channel but now computers are a little bit smarter they work it out themselves, often incorrectly meaning you have to fuck around in the bios to get your boot order correct when you change drives instead of setting the jumper while you had the driver in your hand at no extra inconvenience.
It wouldn't be such a big issue if modern bios weren't riced beyond all usability

I've seen enough failed drain lines and drainage issues in houses to know you should put as little as possible down your kitchen drain. Its a garbage disposal, but over the years it WILL slowly get clogged and could be avoided if you didn't use it as a trash can.

If its wet organic material like pulp and you're doing it regularly, make a compost bucket and use it on your flowers or garden.

If you're in an apartment and give no fucks, then yeah use it as a receptacle for anything that will fit and drain.

Clothes stand made from an inverted Ikea Frosta stool.

The wood is slightly bent in the middle unfortunately as I used a scrap piece I found in the garage.

I was originally looking for shelf brackets to use for the feet when I came across this idea http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/diy-shelf-brackets-made-from-i-63635 . The stool obviously came with a seat which I ended up using as a base. This helps keeps the stand bottom heavy and also levels out any unevenness in the right angle feet/struts.

Fiddling around in changing the pahse of aluminium. So far I have produced lots of slag. If work permits I'll continue tomorrow.

Uses waste oil as fuel. Diesel was too rough! I ran out of waste oil though. The diesel was meant for my flamethrower-to-be.... Used just a bit.
