Any suggestions on fixing this shitty clogged shower drain?
- Due to the 3rd-world design of the drain, there is no screw(s) to take out for it to be removed. It's just like glued into the shower floor.
- I tried using a plunger on the drain. That made it much worse. Now the water doesn't drain at all.
- I tried some dish detergent to lubricate the filth. Nothing. (worked once for me on a clogged toilet)
- I tried some boiling water, baking soda, and vinegar. Nothing.
If I can't get to the pipes from the basement tomorrow, I'm just going to break/tear up the drain so that I can get to the filth/hair with a coat hanger. But I was hoping there were some other ideas before I start permanently destroying things.

If blowing it out doesn't work (clearing a physical obstruction) the button itself is likely shot.
They're tiny-ass little microswitches. They can't really be cleaned or serviced, and if you've got the case open far enough to get them out it's stupid to not just replace them entirely.
They're replaceable fairly easily if you're careful.

Howdy yall, need some advice. Have a decent sized workshop for the type of stuff I do.(14ft 8in x 7ft 5in). However I've found my self in a pickle. I purchased a Baja warrior mb200 mini bike a couple months back for getting me to and from local fishing spots. Specifically ice fishing. And when I purchased the bike I told my self just keep it simple, stock.... well boys will be boys. I've gotten into motor modifications and body, lighting ect. My question for yall is, any one have a good idea for a bike stand that is size efficient and can be easily moved into and out of storage. I use my workshop daily so unfortunately I can't convert it over to mini bike garage soly. Lemme know what yall think. Picture related. My home main workshop.

Op here, yeah I was looking into that however I'd like to be able to get it up off the ground a ways so I can easily work on the motor and such. I've got bad knees, need surgery so squatting isn't really the easiest for me. I have a simple jack stand I was looking at dirt bike stands but the bike is roughly 145lbs and pretty low to the ground so either lifting the bike up that high would be slightly difficult or install a hoist. So I hope hoping something along the lines of a jack possibly a cissor lift essentially. I use a milk crate currently. I would also like to fund a way to keep it from moving around when I'm wrenching on it not sure if an abrasive material would be best for the bike frame to rest or on a way to clamp it down or simply the weight of the bike be enough. Any thoughts?

i got a washing machine motor today (friend replaced his, and i ripped the motor out of it on the way to the dump, and ive figured out how to wire it to run)
but heres where i need help
how can i turn this in to a kick ass little belt sander?
ive got some wood working tools, and some metal working tools (welder, bench grinder, hack saws, drill press, etc.)
what i have for wood working
a lathe, hand saws, jig saws, hand held power sander things, a drill press, a dremel, hand drill, and some other odds and ends
for metal i have an arc welder (my welds are not pretty as can be but they're strong enough to hold a pick axe together) tap and die set, a large stack of files, bench grinder, drill press, a metal cutting circular saw, a dremel, and a small forge
ive got a small stack of scrap metal (steel and aluminum, mostly pipes, rods and angle stuff)
and ive got hella wood

Sup DIY masters of the universe
This man was throwing out these regulated power supply's at an old speaker store and I got ahold of them. He mentioned they were broken but didn't say what was broken, which gave me the Idea that I could use parts from both to make one functioning again....well, hopefully.
I plugged in the one on the right first in order to see if anything was visually out of the ordinary and well.......This part exploded. I haven't tried the other one yet lol
The capacitors all blew out, but since it had voltage in it, I dare not touch it yet, until I drain off the excess voltage
p.s. On another note...I tried looking these things up and was unable to find them. I would assume their a little older than the newer stuff out today, but nothing?

It's my first time doing a /diy/ project so I'm a bit clueless about what I'm doing.
I'm trying to make a basic shoe shelf out of a pallet I found (*cough* stole *cough*). I cut out 14 planks/pieces of wood using a hand saw (pic related, except with a blade for wood) of similar shape and size. The problem is that I didn't cut them out perfectly so some of the planks are different in length by 1-2cm. Is there an easy way to even out all of the planks or do I have to just mark some measurements with a pencil and use the handsaw again? I feel like the handsaw is something that is tough to be precise with, or maybe I am cutting it out wrong.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Pallets are for queers, as are shoe racks.
You should be able to cut better than that 2cm is huge.
Practice measuring, marking and knowing where on the line you are cutting.
Use a file to take off any excess before sanding but the more mismatched your cuts are the more work it will take and filling is a real fucking chore.
But it will give you some incentive to cut better next time.
Use a coarse/rough/bastard file to start.

Thanks for the reply. I realize the pallet is shit quality wood, but I thought it would force me to learn more things rather than buying some ready to go wood planks. I'm also doing this on a budget, hence the pallet. What's wrong with shoe shelves?

This is my first thread here and I'm telling beforehand I don't knopw if this break any rules. I want to discuss the making of "vape juice", the liquid that is put into electronic pipes or however they are called.
I don't know if that's illegal on some places but I'm not putting tobacco or anything, just glycerine and some flavor.
I don't want to end up banned because I really don't know if this breaks any rule, but vaping without tobacco seems just something fun to do that doesn't involve drugs.

Thing is, I haven't vaped before so I won't know if I have done it correctly.
I'm going to buy vegetal glycerine, needed as base for the mix, because it's cheap and it produces a lot of vapor. The thing is I saw that "flavor" are just concentrated liquids.
My question is: How do I make my own flavor? Is that even possible? Example: I have some vanilla and I want to use it to give flavor to the juice. I'm searching on the topic but I can't find that info. Anyone?

Hey diy I have a problem. I bought a can of acrylic paint 18 months ago, with which I painted my radiators (the paint was a matte brown color).
Today I decided to go over my radiators again with the same paint, but to my horror the paint turns out to be glossy as fuck now. I made sure to flip all my cans of paint upside down every months or so, and I've stirred in it quite a lot, so that can't be the problem.
Does this shit age or something? Did I do something wrong? I can go out and buy another can (probably), but it the color keeps changing, the problem will come back in a year or so.
Pic related, you can clearly see the difference between the two. Also, it's not a drying up issue

1. Yes spray paint can go bad.
2. The pigments in most paints are in fact temperature and light reactive; oxidation, light and heat will change the color over time. Fact.
3. There is specialty "High Temp" paint made just for Radiators.
4. While layers of paint will reduce the radiators efficiency, I don't think spray paint will have an appreciable effect.

Hey /diy/, mind helping me build some shelves for my desk setup?
Dad was never around to teach me woodworking, and I'm needing to build two shelves with drawers for under my PC desk. The dimensions are too niche to find in an average store, and figured building one would be a nice alternative.
Pic related, the spaces between the desk parts are about 11 inches wide and about 27 inches tall.
What kind of wood should I invest in? Nails or screws? How to properly line up the drawer railings? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

I am in the process of building a dust collection system, or shop vac or whatever. Anyway I'm soon going to have suction to all my tools ( finally) but I'd love to have the suction to turn on when I turn on any tool!
I have lots of power tools, one phase tools are bandsaw, belt sander, bench grinder, planer and others. Three phase tools are circular saw and drill press.
So any idea how to acomplish this? Pic is related, there would need to be a switch somewhere downstream from such as lighting and handheld power tools that would turn on the suction automatically. With one phase and one plug it would be easy the 3~ seems to be a bit trickier. I tried to search but couldn't find anything for more phases than 3...
And I live in 230V-land, three phase motors use 400V phase-to-phase voltage. As 3~ needs phase-to-phase the sensing would be needed between those, not between phase and neutral...
Anybody have plans for my idea?

Just hook it up to a light switch that also runs a ceiling fan or other dust control measures. No harm in it running a while extra. Maybe try to make one of those "cyclone" dust collector things to keep the shop vac filter clean

I didn't know what to do with my first dremel either. Ended up buying a couple of pieces of hard wood from home depot and carving a couple of tobacco pipes. That was back in '97. Still have the same dremel today. It's probably been through thousands of hours of use now. Almost certainly the best investment I've ever made.
