I'm trying to set up another horn in my car, and I have a few questions. Firstly do I connect the power supply of the relay (terminal 30) to my cars fusebox or the batterys postive terminal? Also how would I set it up so that I have it connected to a switch that selects between my old horn and new horn. Pic related

>>
Terminal 30 should go where ever it's easiest to get voltage. But, I would find a switched fuse block not being used. Either you have a second switch or have a 3 way switch so you can use your steering wheel's default horn location.

You'll need a switch between either ground or 12v that chooses either old horn or new horn. Or both. Or none. You'll figure it out.

I tried the general woodworking thread. Waited a week and got no reply on my post. So....

I am planning on building a simple bed frame for a queen size. Using 2x8 and 4x4 for most of it. Gonna use lag bolt for connecting most everything (not in a long term living situation). I have always had my bed on rails and I am tired of it.

I need suggestions or tips. Anything you guys can think of. Gonna be low to the ground so it is more sturdy. Headboard is gonna come up about a foot over the matress. Gonna use slats instead of my box spring. Also, would like to avoid any staining/painting/covering in general. I am going to sand it down extremely smooth and that is all I plan for a finish.

Loosely basing it off this

Looks ugly as fuck and unimaginative. I just finished this. Queen bed. Its 130cm off the ground so i can comfortably fap in a lazy boy under my bed. Just put on a thin coat of shellac to seal the grain because i am lazy.

Buy low, sell high is the best tip I can give; though hot's on the left, cold's on the right is a close second.

Seriously, if you don't finish it with something (paint, varnish, lacquer, spray on polyurethane, whatever) it'll look like shit faster than you'd think.

Oh! And good luck!

Any tips for keeping the blade straight? Initially I had drawn some straight lines, but it didn't matter because the saw will curve ever so slightly.

I just don't want this damn cradle to wobble. It already cobbled together.

swap in an sr20det
>>
If all L engines have same mounts/bellhousings I would build an l28 stroker with individual carbs, turbo it, and drop it in while driving on stock l20. If you don't want to deal with turbo tuning and linking carbs (or if the only thing you care about is power and not cool factor) then sr20 or RB swap. If you are dead set on using the l20 then it's the same progression as almost any NA build with your style.

Remove some of the floorboard so you can push the pedal down further

So recently a paper came out that showed that mealworms can eat, digest and survive on styrofoam. I wondered if other species could do the same so I tried it out with the much larger and totally different species, superworms. Not only will they eat it but they seem to quite enjoy eating it. It makes for an easy DIY project since you can get the worms cheaply and locally in almost every city since most pet stores will carry them. With a few more worms, you could easily process all the styrofoam you use on a daily basis. check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TS9PWzkUG2s

I'm titled as an industrial electrician, in house for a specific highly automated manufacturing facility

basically I take calls from people who have something 'that doesn't work'. And I have to figure out why and get it working, everything from basic IT stuff and idiots who can't plug their stuff in, to trouble shooting industrial processes. When I don't have a call I work on PM stuff, condition checks, iso verification of sensors etc.

My job is amazing, I get to work with tons of crazy high end super obscure systems regularly. And if i can't work something out all im expected to do is find someone who can or spec out a new system to replace it. I have a little slice of the action from the light duty construction side to day to day trouble shooting of the underlying process which is being controlled to the new system engineering.

I would do it again and actively encourage smart young nerds to get into, everyone hears electrician and thinks they are gonna be drilling holes in the winter on a construction site. I'm really more like a electronics guy who has to comfortable around 600 amp 3 phase panels than what most people consider an 'electrician'.

only catch is you have to remember your not going to let the smoke out of a 1/4 resistor and/or fry your 5 dollar arduino you might kill someone or cause so much damage in dollars you could never earn a fraction of it to repay.

So you really need to be sure you understand what your working on before you work on it, and your constantly working on things you never saw before, so yeah you just have to learn how to deal with that

Safety and reliability are paramount at all times.

Structural Engineer

I design structures, bespoke sculptures and staircases/balustrades, glass, concrete, aluminium frames, steelwork etc.

I do finite element analysis, computer and hand calculations, and generally tell architects that they're fucking stupid, whilst fighting with builders who insist they've 'been dun doing this for 30 years'

I get paid fuck all for the work I do, and unfortunately, time is so constrained that all the really cool shit I do is packed too tightly for me to actually enjoy it. I'm learning though, so hopefully I'll be able to better manage myself in future.

I wish I could have entered into cutting edge engineering software design, but I suspect its equally shitty, if not worse. We currently get cucked by autodesk on the daily, can't imagine working for them.

Show off your storage, unless of course you're a loser.

How difficult is it to make clothes?
As in, for myself. Does it require a big amount of expertise? Is it doable to make durable clothes without a sewing machine?

I feel like i'm paying a lot of money for shit that only roughly fits me, while it should be much cheaper when I do it for myself.
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
You're probably better off buying clothes that almost fit & going to a tailor to alter it.
If you really want to DIY, you can learn to alter clothes yourself.
Making clothes is pretty damn hard though. Don't do it unless you want something unique that can't be bought.
>>
>>932770
>Don't do it unless you want something unique that can't be bought.
well that is pretty much my goal.
>>
For most clothing, you're not going to get much cheaper than super mega bulk purchase fabric and third world child labor.

Making clothes takes a fair bit of knowledge, a durable sewing machine, a good fabric source, and plenty of time. Them again, third world children can do it, so can you.

Start with premade clothing templates, learning stitching patterns, and start altering things.

hey guys,i got a question for yall.i live in an old house (60 - 70 years old)the old particle board lower cabinets are falling apart and have been for a while.we keep a clean house/kitchen but the cabinet problem is so bad that i am having a hard time keeping the kitchen roach problem down,as i pretty sure that they are consuming the glue that is in the particle board.the point is,i am going to have to replace these lower cabinets and counter top.i live on a very low fixed income so i am going to have to do this myself but my diy skills are sub par to put in mildly.i can read a tape and can do minor things with relative confidence but building cabinets is far far out of my scope of abilities.the dimensions are approx 90 inches of cabinet.approx 30 inches,sink(32 inches),30 inches.
i found some rta cabinets(different sizes)(i will include pic)can i buy three of them and glue or put them side by side,is there an rta option for the entire 90 inches of cabinet?
basically my question is,what is my absolutely cheapest options?outside of building them from scratch which i don't have the tools/equipment or skills to do...fyi - the sink is in ok shape and can be reused.
sorry for the long post or any other 'rules' i may have broken, long time lurker, first time thread starter.

If it is their main source of food then you will have to get rid of the board.

Absolute cheapest solution: get rid of the broken boards, tape some cloth over it as replacement/cover.

It will help if you can post an actual picture of the actual thing being discussed.

Situation:
I want to use an arduino to have my dorm room open with my phone and/or a keypad

Problem:
I can't change anything that I can't change back

What would be the best way to have the door open from the inside (mechanically) that would be easy to put back afterwards and that wouldn't ruin my door's ability to open with a key? I can deal with the actual programming etc easily, but the actual mechanism has me scratching my head as to what the best method would be.

Get a towel rail that you hang over the door
Some rope, tape it to the handle. The tape won't hold but wrap the rope around and around and around until pulling the type pulls the latch. Rope goes over a pulley on the towel hanger. Other end of rope tie it to a paint can and fill with sand or bolts until its a decent counterweight.
Drive pulley with motor indirectly, use a rubber wheel as a friction drive or a belt and pulley to turn the main pulley.

Ps you are a raging faggot for doing this

I live in the Philippines, and there are pennies, which same as always, useless to me and to people. Can I melt it with a pot and make a bar of metal compound, and sell it big in the market?
20 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>929494
I don't know about Philippines, but governments generally dislike the idea of people melting coins and selling them as raw metal.
You might also find that people aren't willing to pay the full price of your mystery metal bars.
>>
>>929496
At my chemistry class, I learned that reacting mint pennies with chemicals are fine but melting it directly can offend the law.
But if that so, then there is no other choice for me. i'll just throw it all on the highway and make homeless kids run and pick the coins.
Entertainment can be hilarious.
>>
>>929494
Depends, most cases it is illegal. However some rare exceptions have been made through legal battles often under freedom of speech and artistic expression. This is why smashed pennies are allowed under the law, while other things are still debated.

I say just get your metal some other way.

Aluminum cans are easy enough to get and melt down. The plastic lining burns off (I don't suggest breathing the vapors) and other contaminates typically float or in some cases sink so you can get decent metal grades for basic builds if you skim them off, or not.

This video covers it better then most of the ones I have seen.
