Alright /diy/ I just bought an arduino starter kit, Uno R3 2.8 touchscreen with sd card for arduino board module and the elagoo 37 in 1 sensor module kit for arduino uno r3 what should i do now? I'm kinda new, did robotics a bit before in highschool. what are the different projects i can work on with this?
You could make a robot that searches google for shit since you're clearly a fucking moron
>>1070338
you shoud make:
PID controller
Steady state controller
Data logger
Buy a wifi and Bluetooth shield. After that you can start creating an OS for arduino. Maybe a cheap console-like item.
Has anybody ever build a Street/crank/busker organ?
I am thinking of building one from plans by John Smith with small wood working experience.
>>1070312
you might find guides and other stuff in the internet archive
test
>>1070312
>ever build a Street/crank/busker organ?
No, but I've toyed with the idea.
I like the idea of making a woodwork clock, but it seems like a white elephant.
You have to wind it, keep it set, dust it It makes noise.
A wall-mounted crank organ/drum machine/music box would still have DIY clockwork, but you could just leave it alone for months if you like.
whats the cheapest way to heat steel to a malleable temperature?
cheapest as in I barely have any money

I purchased some quality LED strips from china that I would *tastefully* like to insert in my car and under my table - however they didn't come with a power supply.
I am absolutely lost on how to connect these strips to anything so that they work.
Can anyone help me out? I know I need to start with a 2 pin adapter and then what?
The chink seller wasn't able to answer my question sufficiently unfortunately.
ebay item number: 222210405510
>>1070203
the same seller will sell you an AC to DC adaptor so you can plug your ass into the mains
or just cut off a usb cable and use the 5V from your whatever the fuck usb outlets any kind
>>1070210
I can actually do that? can u post pics or a simple guide?
>>1070203
strips are 12v and guess what, your car is 12v. kind of.
your battery voltage varies a little bit when the alternator is running. try connecting them into the wiring somewhere. when do you want them to come on? al the time? connect via a fuse to the battery. just when the ignition is on? connect to the ignition relay through a fuse. etc. etc. you can buy a 12vdc rated switch and wire it up if you want.
table indoors use a 12v wall wart/ power supply/ regulator. output power (?) is .9w per piece? so current = p/v = 0.9/12 = 0.075A = 75mA per strip, your power supply needs to be at least this and i guess its per strip so for 4 strips your power suply needs a current rating of at least 0.3A (300mA). more that that is ok but its not efficient. voltage must be 12vdc no more no less
dont expect the ones in the car to last.
So here I am /g/ deciding to make a home project, why don't I make a little MP3 amp with tone control?
And to cut a long story short I've well and truly fucked it, wired it up digital and got a square wave output
How to unfuck this fuckup?
Chip is LM124, goal is to make a small amp that produces a lot of volume w/ tone control
Feel free to give me suggestions on a different chip etc
Also budget is £20
first off

I present to you the humble LM386.

Thank you
These can be run off a 9v battery?
Also what about preamplification?
What should I do?
I want to build a small home gym in my garden. The specification for the internal size of the building has to be 9ftx6ftx8ft. It cannot be *significantly* less than this; a few inches off may be okay.
I've looked into plastic sheds and I am struggling to find any that fit these dimensions for £600 or less. I've looked for weeks.
Wood and metal sheds seem inappropriate due to weather, condensation and letting in unwanted pests.
What should I do? What's the work around here?
>>1070047
9ftx6ftx8ft thats kinda small
>>1070085
The power cage is 7ft tall, the bar is 7ft3in wide, so I don't need much more space.
Bench is about 4ft deep, so 6ft is ideal for moving around.
>>1070047
why dont you get a container?
I have a 1-5/8" piece of aluminum rod and a piece of aluminum tube that is 1-3/4" x 0.065" wall. I need to put small sections of the rod inside the tube. The rod is a tiny bit too large (I haven't measured yet).
How do I relatively accurately remove a few thousandths from the OD of this rod?
I have a bunch of tools, but no lathe and no access to a lathe. The "best" idea I have is drilling a hole in the end of the rod and spinning it in my drill press while I take an angle grinder to it. I would still need to figure out how to support the other end of the rod.
Any better ideas?
>>1070026
your idea is dumb and will not and cannot produce a nearly accurate result
only a lathe can do the job you describe properly
maybe with a file instead of angle grinder maybe you can slowly shave off the amount but angle grinder is just no
>>1070026
Instead of trying to reduce the diameter of the rod you could try increasing the inner diameter of the tube, you could try doing this with a fine, bore hone, this will have the added benefit of smoothing out the inner surface.
>>1070026
Five thousandths? In aluminium? Just lay it on a flat surface, roll it toward you with your off hand and use a file in your dominant hand on the end. This is literally less than a five minute job, assuming you have a file. And a flat surface. And two hands.
I have a mower tire that I need to get off a rim.
Fix-a-flat was used on it before, and the tire is really stuck on there.
I've already tried jamming it in a door frame and using a car jack + board to put force on it, but it still won't come loose.
Any ideas?
>>1070008
Cut it open?
>>1070008
What did you wedge the jack with?
Did you put it under a truck frame or something?
Run it over.
Seriously, just run over the tire, not the steel part.
>>1070008
Sawzall.
if i want to diagnose and fix faults on laptop boards, what stuff should i get to work with? i grabbed a £25 maplins autoranging mutlimeter for diagnosing the faults, but if i have to solder or clean i imagine ill need a good soldering iron and a hot air gun, along with flux, good solder, and a good wick.
any UKfags got any recommendations on what to get or where to shop? also what are these stations like compared to the new 888D?
Get an oscilloscope, hot air rework, and a bucket of flux. I also recommend removal alloy, it makes disassembly awesome. Just start with used stuff. Also, start on something easier, like TVs or audio electronics. Laptop boards are pains in the ass.
>>1070003
a scope is way out of my budget for now
any ideas on what hot air rework station to get?
what exactly is removal alloy?
i have a laptop that needs repairing, so im repairing it
>>1069998
If you are beginner level, don't dick around and just get a small soldering iron and learn the basics of soldering first, i.e. properties and characteristics of solder and flux can really be learned first hand to get a feel for
Where would I be able to learn all the components to a car or truck.
I would rather buy a 1000 dollar truck and just fix what needs fixed rather than take out a 40 thousand dollar loan
Good luck with that.
Its just something you pick up over time after working on it.
You have the internet at your fingertips, you can get tutorials and fix problems easily.
Its just up to you to diagnose and figure shit out.
Anyone halfway handy can do a whole lot more work than you would think.
>get truck
>do basic maintenance
>when something breaks or starts acting weird google it and fix it
Thats about it, you will catch on pretty quick. Shit isnt that hard. Diagnosing things correctly the first time is the hardest part.
>>1069742
Also a quick off the top of my head shit you should do to any used car you buy, immediately
>change oil
>change coolant
>check belts and hoses for cracks
>change spark plugs and wires
>change air filter
>make sure brake fluid and power steering fluid is topped up
etc etc
Read through some "how to buy a used car" guides.
You will never find a dirt cheap car that meets the expectations, but it should give you a basic guideline of what to look for and what to replace when you buy one.
Then at that point you can google your specific make and model for how tos on doing the work.
How the fuck do I change this toilet seat?
Looks like you're supposed to bend it so you can pull one side of the seat off the metal bar, then you can easily remove the other side
>>1069655
The toilet seat does wiggle from side to side but it feels like it would break/warp the metal pieces if I pulled/pushed it side ways with force.
hey guys I suck at making manual bevels on pipe, what is a good pipe beveler? need 37.5 degrees of bevel. most pipe I do is small don't need big DIA.
>>1069631
What do you need to bevel pipe for? Genuinely curious.
I sell pipe welding coupons on the internet for a fraction of the price engineering labs sell them for. welders use them to practice welding. some of the complains ive been getting lately is that the bevels are uneven or of low quality.

I have a bunch of Aloe Vera in my backyard and want to use them somehow. Feel like it's just a waste leaving them there. Am I able to make my own homemade gel? Or do I just eat it? Leave it on my acne areas or a bit?
Are you sure it's aloe vera? There are a lot of lookalikes used in gardens because they're cheaper.
>>1069570
What ever you decide, remember that is loses most all its good effects within an hour or two of harvesting and processing into whatever you want to make it into. All those store bought things are just scams. So, use it all right away, whatever you make.
Hey /diy/
I'm just wondering where I can buy pic related.
I'm looking for flattish knurled aluminium rotary knobs to put on a guitar. The only ones I have found have been around $40 for a set of two.
Surely they are cheaper somewhere else. I just can't internet though.
>>1069501
>$40 for a set of two
Holy shit, my lathe and I need to get in on this. Its like five minutes work, and aluminium cuts like wood.
So, I'd be very happy to make those for you, $30 plus postage. Or just go to a more local machinist and you'll get shit like that done for a bottle of beer, which is the appropriate price for the work.
>>1069504
Where would I go locally to get something like that made?

Go nuts.
Does anyone know how to refurbish bikes for sale? I have a few bikes in my shed me and my brother used to use and we don't want them.
Mine seems to have this issue where if you peddle too hard in high gear the chain slips on the sprocket and these retarded grips i have keep twisting downwards, other then that they are both OK. Maybe a grease and cleaning.
>>1069498
>if you peddle too hard in high gear the chain slips on the sprocket
Probably chain wear, possibly sprocket wear too.
You should really ask /n/, check the catalog for the BQG (bike questions general) thread.
>>1069498

>>1069498
chain too loose, chain wear, chain dirt, sprocket wear/dirt/dry. solutions: clean and grease, wd-40 for cleaning and grease for greasing. check how loose or tight the chain is, maybe you need to reposition your rear wheel to get your chain tighter.
grips: remove, clean, maybe glue back on, cleaning: use wd-40 for the grease, soap for the wd-40 and alcohol for the soap.
help me out plz: how do i get my freewheel removed? or more important, how/where can i buy the right tool? the one i bought brand new doesnt fit..
