Dewalt kicks ASS!!

Sick of getting fucked in the ass by the kikes at the gas company and electric company.

Im living in a big house (3.6k sq ft) in a rural area. The house is not insulated beyond the absolute basics, but all non-technogical heat insulation methods are in effect.

With that being said, can anyone reccomend any cheap but effective appliances? I average $400/month just for the gas to keep the house at 18 degrees celcious.

Perhaps there is an appliance that can hold it at par or higher for only $200/month ?

Do like the Norwegians do. Close every goddamn door and buy a cheap radiator for the room you spend the most time in.

Get yourself an AGA, run it in oil and run your hearing off it.

If you want to invest heavily look at underground heat sourcing. I forget what it's called.

Instead of tines, just a nice smooth cocobolo handle with a very strong neodymium magnet plugged inside. Of course the food will have to be updated for compatibility.

Combine it with all other things. Knife, spoon, chop sticks, etc. Also add it to the IoT for some reason.

hey DIY am i going to die. I'm an EE student and touching high voltage stuff for the first time ever and I'm not sure if I'm discharging this right. ground wire's clipped, i'm just too afraid to touch the anode and get it over with.

im wearing rubber boots, standing on a yoga mat, i tested the screwdriver for continuity, and my other hand will be in my pocket. is there any thing else I should do?

Water in your boots, wet the mat and make sure you have a neutral wire from your house to grab if things go bad.

fuck off
>>
>>1067266
if you use a resistor in line, you will limit the discharge current and the whole thing will be a lot less scary.

I'm thinking of getting a bachelor's in engineering but I'm unsure what honours to get it in. I like the sound of civil mechanical and mechatronics but I'm not sure. does anyone have any experience and opinions on what they think I should do?

what do you like to do? can't help you without that

i have a technic diplom in eletronics i did together with highschool and am currently studying Mech. Engineering, and i realized i'm gonna end up in Management, because while i love building and repairing things to myself, i hate doing it for others, specially under orders
>>
>>1073469
I'm a mech. Dad is a civi.
If you like electronics or if you don't hate it, go mechatronics.
If you like being outside sometimes go for civi.

Beeing a mechanical engineer was the right decision for me, but only because I'm no CAD-Monkey.

Where I studied Mechanical eng. and Mechatronics had the first half year together.
>>
I like the sound of all three and I've looked into some projects but I'm mainly interested in the type of work that comes once you graduate. I don't want to be working in the same place doing the same thing too much. as a kid I always wanted to make robots hahaha. what work can you get into if you have honours in mechatronics or civil? are the jobs enjoyable?

The door seals is a great idea thanks, walls not so much as I'm gonna have to explain why I have towels glued to my wall, I'll try the bricks and as for the £50 I am willing to save.

I am hoping /diy/ can help me with this.

I'm no electrician and I also can't afford to have one come out to my house.

Here is my current wiring.

I have red, white, green, and yellow. But I also have a unused green wire.

The red wire seems to be jumped to power supply for cooling and heating (as there is only 1 red wire but two power supplies for my old thermostat) So should the single red wire just go directly to the new thermostat?

Thank you for the help guys. I'll post more pics

I'm guessing sense the fan still works on my current thermostat that the unused green wire might be a ground?

I want to build a garden shed to store powerlifting equipment.
The shed only needs to be 9ft x 6ft x 8ft, perhaps a little wider for insulation.

What's my cheapest option?
What material is most appropriate for good temperatures to lift in during summer and winter?

How could I build such a building for £600 maximum?

Many thanks!

I live with my dad and stay up late at night working in my computer room, which is across the hall from my dad's bedroom. He's kind of old so he wakes up easily. I was wondering if I could use eva foam or some foam kind of like in my picture to make improvised soundproofing panels so he can't hear me playing music and moving around at night. I don't play music loud, but at night there's no other noise and I think the hallway affects how loud it is.
I'm pretty sure I remember past threads about doing this type of thing.

Why is there not a sticky with this already?

To significantly reduce sound transmission you have to increase mass, or decouple surfaces.

Those foamy things only reduce something called RT60, how long it takes for sound to decay by 60 db. In other words it reduces echo.

Yes, plastering your walls with mattress foam will reduce sound levels outside the room, but not significantly. He's still going to hear you.

It actually depends. It won't significantly reduce sound transmission but sometimes it's actually second-, third-, etc. order reflections bouncing off the walls and down/across the hall that cause the most discomfort.

so although open cell foam doesn't improve direct transmission much, it still will make the room, hallway, and house *apparently* more quiet and in a lot of cases that's enough. in other words, the direct sound won't be accompanied by a thick series of fluttering reflections working their way around the room and down the hallway.

it's a good starting point at least, and might just werk

What people dont realise is that this stuff is primarily to reduce echos

I'm spraying my surfboard black. I wet sanded a bit too aggressively or with too low a grit after my first coat and the sand marks are showing through the second coat. Should I wet sand at a high grit? Or will the matte clear coat cover the marks? Maybe buff it? I can add another coat but would prefer not to add too much unnecessary weight.

I've surfed with spinner, reef, hammerhead, and tiger sharks, and anything else that I haven't seen. Worst thing that happened was a guy next to me got bumped. Still freaked me out so I read up on them. They have pretty good vision but rely on smell and their electrical organ more. Visually though, they're more attracted to white and reflective colors.

So I'm about to remove my car radio and there's 4 bolts, deep under the dash.

I have a power drill with some bits to undo bolts (circled blue), I need some sort of adapter but I can't find any. The ones circled yellow don't fit. Does anything in the photo look as though it could fit the bits circled in blue?

>>1072371
In photo, no. Looks like you need a 1/4 inch socket adapter.
>>
Best shit for car dashes is a 1/4" drive six point small metric socket set. Cheap is fine because fasteners are small. If a Ford, they LOVE 7mm hex bolts. A couple of 3" extensions, a universal joint, and a long extension like 12" will handle MANY automobile interior parts. I prefer deep sockets because some interiors have nuts on longish studs but shallow will do.
>>
>>1072371
Top left, third bit from left looks like a 1/4in drive bit for those sockets. What makes you think you can change out a stereo if you can't even figure out a drill/driver?
