Anyone here ferment their own foods?
If so what do you like to ferment?
I ferment semen
I pickle garlic.
It makes my breathe smell horrendous though.
I've started making yoghurt and sauerkraut, and recently branched out into trying to make hot sauces (still a little paranoid that I fucked up the first batch, didn't seem very acidic and kept getting growths of kahm yeast).
Black pepper appreciation thread
I honestly like it better than white the flavor just pops more

Black is more flavor, white is more heat.
I do like them both though.
black pepper is the master spice
wars have been fought over it

Get a locally made pizza for half the price, the quality will be the same.

Sticky rice.

Has anyone on /ck/ ever tried Nattō? Does it taste good?
>>8975524
The smell and texture is off-putting, but the taste is fine, especially if you add some fresh scallions and soy sauce.
Its a very savory flavor but also taste "healthy" and light. Keeping the stands off your face is really hard and it will make you stink if you aren't careful.
Issue: My girlfriend hates cooking, is a vegetarian, but is allergic to nuts.
Problem: I've run out of ideas wat do.
My girlfriend is 25 years old, we live together two years now. And she's a bit of a handful when cooking. I do most of the cooking at home, I love to cook as a hobby, try new things, etc, etc. My GF on the other hand hates to cook because it takes to long and when she does even something like opening a can improperly causes anxiety.
I guess she was babied to much as a kid, teen, by her mother a little to much in that department.
Anyways. I work shift work, two weeks on, two off, sometimes I work full days, sometimes not, it's just the nature of my career. As a result I am not at home to prepare meals everyday for her, I do try my hardest to do this, but sometimes I just can't be bothered. I end up cooking a nice meat filled meal for myself, and completely forget that my GF can't cook worth shit while I'm at work.
Her parents and I convinced her to eat fish, but here's the thing, unless it's frozen fish, she has no idea how to cook it. I've tried to teach her, but she uses excuses to not do it herself.
As a result I have resorted to buying expensive frozen veggies, fish, potato products, instant noodles, pasta sauces from a can or jar, jut things filled with added bullshit and sugar.
I feel for her health. How can I get her to just cook a basic healthy meal? She expects everything to just be prepared for her or instant... frustrates me.

Cooking is part of being an adult.
Your girlfriend has the mindset of a child.
If she can't provide for herself there is no future to your relationship.
You should just break it off desu
>>8974311
You have to kill her, it's the only way.
Nice!

A few days ago I successfully injected an egg with hot sauce and fried it.
Today, I'm looking for new ideas on things to inject with hot sauce.
You have the fortunate pleasure of choosing what that thing is and seeing it work or fail spectacularly.

A mozzarella.

Can you post a picture of the final fried egg?
If you didn't take one, kill yourself.

>If you're a white person, you have no business running a restaurant that serves Asian, Latin, African, or Indian cuisine.
>That's according to the creators of a "white-owned appropriative restaurants" list, which accuses several Oregon establishments of engaging in cultural appropriation—a tool of "a white supremacist culture."

How do we know the author didn't make this up just so e could write about it?
Oregon has been the bastion of losers and hipsters for over a decade. It's like if you concentrated all of cuckafornias retardation and made it into its own state.

I bet none of the pizza parlors there are run by Italians.
What are some foods millenials like?
I like cashews.

Do you think Trump is doing a good job as president?
>>8978622
I think what he does wrong is over inflated by the media, but I still don't think he's doing a good job.
>>8978622
Ah: depends on what the job of a president is.
If the job is distraction, I would say he's doing an A+ job.
I just completed a 5 day fast.
Don't ask me why I did it, I was curious. I wouldn't do it again.
What should I eat today? Since my body has so little energy, I'm not going to do anything but eat today.
Taking suggestions.
So far I only had a pizza bun and chocolate milk.
>>8978513
Don't eat too much carbs, as in bread, rice, etc.
But since you are planning on binge on pizza bun and chocolate milk... rip your body.
>>8978513
Why'd you do it? You a muzzie?
>>8978522
Muzzies are starting their fasting today, it takes a lot of willpower to only feast twice a day.
Why Scandinavian cuisine is such a disgrace? I can understand that in the past the harsh climate wouldn't allow a huge variety of ingredients to the common folk, severely limiting their traditional cooking. What baffles me is that even to this day their traditional eating habits and cooking methods never evolved past the Bronze Age.
>>8978150
Hardly anyone eats that kind of food anymore.
Just like everywhere else they now have Chinese, Thai, middle Eastern....
And the whole modern Nordic cusine movement is about moving away from the old bland dishes and presentations. (I.e. Noma)
>>8978150
This looks kinda nice since I love grilled cow tongues (not joking, these taste awesome).
>>8978167
I know you can find good food there now. But that's the problem: they all belong to foreign cuisines. Their actual traditional food still remains Neolithic. And Noma... we are talking about food their families cook for generations and generations, not just what is served in some gourmet restaurant.
What's for breakfast?
I had this thing that we call omelet. But every time I see omelet other people make, they look a lot different. What the fuck am I making then?
So yeah, breakfast:
Omelet with spinach and some coffee.
Looks more like a quiche
Most omelettes are folded
Yours is not
I just lost a wisdom tooth. Strawberry banana smoothie.

>Quiche (/ˈkiːʃ/ KEESH) is a savoury, open pastry crust with a filling of savoury custard with one or more of cheese, meat, seafood or vegetables. Quiche can be served hot or cold. It is part of French cuisine but is also popular in other countries, particularly as party food.
This?
Spaghetti Carbonara
Made it a year ago and didn't turn out well when I was learning how to cook. Made it again this week and it was amazing. Such a simple dish and yet it was delicious. Ended up making it the day after as well.
I ended up using either too much pasta water or should've only used one egg (or even discarded the whites) as you can see in the picture, but I just used a bun to mop it up afterwards.
