Does your diet affect your mental health?
Has your depression and/or anxiety changed when you changed your diet?
When I cut alcohol and refined sugar for a couple of months I was much happier and more productive.
Yet I eventually turned back to occasional sugary snacks and excessive levels of alcohol. Go figure. The Matrix was right when it indicated that [some] humans can't deal with perfection. Short term pleasure is just so much more tempting than long term satisfaction.
>>7291422
Yes, without a diet of opiates or alcohol I'm not a nervous wreck who feels like shit upon awaking.
I scale it back so I only feel half like I want to kill myself now.
>>7291422
Definitely a big correlation. Plenty of studies on it even.
Also exercise makes a big difference.
Where the fuck do I buy Poppy Seeds? how do I ask for them without looking weird?
I obviously want to make them into tea and get shitfaced.
>>7291396
Stroll down to your local bulk foods or decently stocked supermarket and locate the poppy seed bin.
>>7291403
For what else do they use them besides tea? Are they legal?
>>7291413
You have to be joking.
How do you guys deal with fucking up cooking something, emotionally?
No matter what I do, I've lately been fucking up everything I try to cook. Probably mostly because I'm unstable and unable to focus but yeah. It hits pretty hard when I spend hours making something that winds up right in the trash, it's a personal failure and massive waste of time, money, food, energy, etc.
Do you guys ever feel like that too and if so how do you combat it?
This is kind of a weird topic, I know, sorry
Throwing the lot into the bin after barely tasting it is good enough for me. If there are other people around I don't let them taste it. The whole thing basically amounts to a hissy fit, but it consoles me by letting me imagine I have standards.
Sounds like some lame after school PSA, but treat it as a learning experience. Try to figure out what you did wrong, and what you'll do differently next time.
Can't say I've ever really felt emotionally devastated or anything. A lot of times when I'm trying to make something new I pretty much go in expecting it's gonna suck the first time. I'm at a point now where I've got enough basic skill that the result is usually edible, but this certainly wasn't always the case, and either way whether the next time I make it is better or worse, I'm still gonna learn something.
>>7291393
>The whole thing basically amounts to a hissy fit,
Pretty much this. It's never trash worthy, but sometimes it's "I'm not serving this to anyone," not in the sense that it's bad, but moreso lackluster.
Usually try to learn from it, then go drink beer.
I wish to eat cheap, healthy, and incredibly easy. Is this possible? It does not have to be tasty or original. I do not mind eating the same thing every day, as long as it gets me all the vitamins and nutrients required for health.
Pic unrelated. I want to be all those things, except don't care about fake.
Rice, beans, chicken, vegetables.
>>7291347
Hm, okay. That's a good start. Those are all easy, cheap and healthy. Thank you.
>>7291362
Yep.
Rice and beans are cheap and there's a lot of different ways you can prepare them or work them into a meal. Chicken thighs/legs are usually pretty cheap, as are whole chickens.
Don't bother buying just breasts unless you get them on sale for a decent price. Even then, try to get bone-in split breasts since they're cheaper than boneless/skinless and the bone helps them stay moist when cooking.
Definitely try to get whole chickens and roast them, then save the carcass and use it to make stock. Save some of the leftover chicken as well and use that, the stock and some vegetables to make soup.
Get whatever vegetables look good and are on sale and get some bags of cheap frozen vegetables as well.
Also if you eat bread regularly, start baking your own, it's much better quality and cheaper than buying the shitty preservative filled loaves at the supermarket.
I have 30$ to eat until next Friday and I have an allergy to wheat so ramen noodles aren't an option.
What the fuck do I do? Automatic bill payments fucked me.
>>7291333
Go to the dollar store and get some canned food.
>>7291333

Get 60 tacos from Jack in the Box
Anybody care to join?
>>7291318
What the fuck is it? I can't make out the text in your shitty angle picture.
Flat iron. Lighting's bad, you're gonna have to deal.
Onion
I know intact skins can clog. But will pulverized pulp be an issue? Don't know if it's better to post here or /diy/.
I've always flushed pulp down the drain without issues, but my wife has no issues with carrying cheese slices in her purse so different people can have different experiences.
The toilet can usually handle anything, in any case.
>>7291317
Depends on how fibrous the pulp is and how good your drainage system is.
Probably safer to just throw the pulp in the trash or dump it in a compost pile or something like that.
>a pinch/dash of salt
>25-35 minutes
>until tender/browned
>1 medium onion
>stir occasionally
>a light simmer
>knob of butter
>1 cup of diced "X"
>use lean beef
>medium to high heat
>until hot/chilled
>use premium olive oil
Why am I still here? Just to suffer?
calm down sperg
>>7291216
all of these are specific technical terms with well understood usage, what's your problem bby?
>>7291216
Yes there are variables to cooking. This isn't baking.
Your oven or burners might be different. Your measurements don't always have to be exact. Experiment with your cooking and get a taste for what you like. It is not an exact science and perfectionism will only hurt you if you are lacking experience.
U like?

10/10 masterfully crafted
good spag bol recipe? I am a student that likes good flavor and rich sauce/smoke. obviously on a budget : - )
hugs from peru!
>>7291163
>peru
I pity your lack of Fazoli's.
>>7291163
Dead easy:
Fry off 500g of mincebeef in a little oil
Add 1 chopped onion
Season with salt and pepper
When onions have seated down add about 300g of passata (that's what it's called in England anyway, it's like Tomato puree (paste) but thinner) . . .alternatively add i tin chopped tomato, a tablespoon of Puree and about half a teaspoon of sugar.
Next sprinkle in some garlic powder (always good for students and tightwads)
A bit of dried Oregano
A bit of dried Basil
Do you spaghetti in the normal way but after draining, I like to add a knob of butter and stir it around, coating the spaghetti.
Even easier, buy a jar of cheap Bolognese sauce and add the above herbs and garlic powder.
Come spag on my bol bb
I need to prepare an international menu with a couple of friends. We got assigned Asia and Oceania. Asia has shit desserts to be quite fucking honest with my familia, so this leaves Australia as the best option I suppose.
Hit me up with your best Aussie receipts for desserts.
lamingtons are fantastic
pavlova is good too but its actually from new zealand
>australian cuisine
We don't have much in the way of aus-specific foods.
Lamingtons are about the only "dessert" that comes to mind.
>>7291146
Haha. You're not going to find anything of great interest.
There's some overlap with New Zealand, but check out neenish tarts, pavlovas, lamingtons, Iced Vovos, chocolate crackles, and fairy bread. Very unsophisticated stuff.
