Somebody throw me a nice curry recipe.

I like both restaurant style and traditional, meat based.

Something that you actually use & enjoy yourself.

Get an inch of ginger, a bulb of garlic, a few birds eyes and one shitload of onions, fry it all gently for fifteen-twenty minutes in clarified butter.
Add a couple tablespoons of coriander and cumin seed, teaspoons of turmeric, mustard and fennel seed, a few curry leaves, or just garam masala if you've got some.
Brown some lamb neck, add a tin of tomatoes or passata and about as much water, simmer for two hours.
If you want, fry some pepper slices, more onion and fresh tomato on a high heat and stir it through near the end.

Marge tends to not really be a very good cook. There was one episode where she impressed them all by adding salt to pork chops.
>>
>>7296177
Well for starters the preceding line is "8 spices? Some of those must be doubles".
So the idea is that Marge is typically very bland in her cooking, especially if she doesn't know that there are more than 8 spices (though I suppose oregano is a herb but whatever).

Marge butchers the pronunciation..."ore- eh-gone -oh"

lentil stew

8 ounces of lentils, 1 large onion, 2-4 cloves of garlic, 2 celery stalks, 2 carrots, 1/4 head shredded cabbage. saute chopped onion, garlic, carrot and celery in some butter or oil. cook fresh ground black pepper, bay leaf in oil for a minute or so. add lentils and cover with water or stock. add cabbage, simmer until lentils are tender and stew is thickened. add salt and lemon or vinegar. serve with grilled cheese if you want a more filling meal (grilled cheese isn't unhealthy unless you eat too much, like anything else)

culinary beta stories?
>in a pizzeria with friend
>he orders manicotti
>few minutes later the guy in the kitchen comes out with the order
>cannelloni!?
>looking around the room
>cannelloni!?!
>shakes his head
>anybody order cannelloni?
>friend says "I got manicotti"
>guy says "yeah, same thing"
>friend feels really stupid
>doesn't know how to handle the situation
>tells the guy to go fuck himself and runs out of the restaurant

That's a terribly stupid and uninteresting story, both mundane and unbelievable.
>>
>>7295573
well try this one on for size
once in a bagel store on a very busy morning he ordered a bagel and coffee,
this particular bagel store had a coffee service station facing the customers and they are supposed make their own coffee while they wait for food instead of backing up the counter
he insists the person behind the counter makes his coffee for him because he can't do it right, tucked his left hand in his sleeve and said "I only have one hand, I cant do it myself!"
and then every day there after he had to pretend he only had one hand, until the summer came around and he had to stop going there all together because he wasn't wearing long sleeves anymore

Welcome to a bigger world OP. The shank, or "shine", is one of the most delicious cuts on the animal. I am so fucking over steak. Give me a good stew or braised dish to go with this cold weather.
>>
>>7295521
Look up italian osso bucco recipe.
but basically you dust with flower and fry them off.
in a duth oven brown garlic and onion, then fry off diced tomato and a bottle of wine, chuck in shins and bayleaves, maybe oregano, add some good passata and chuck in the overn for about 3 hours, season and serve with a buttery polenta and a chianti

No, but if you're doing the slow cooker method to make dulce de leche, its not dangerous at all. I've done it with 3 cans and it worked well. Not as good as a traditional method, but if you're using it for an apple snack, you're good to go.

Reading about Francis Mallman made me wonder about what different tribes of Native Americans ate?

Here's what I've found from some cursory research, and I'm wondering what else /ck/ might know:

>"Three Sisters" - maize, beans and squash
>Frybread
>Wild game, fish
>Wild leeks, ginger, juniper

Anyone ever eat at a Native American home? A reservation?

Deer, moose, deer jerky, rabbit stew, bannock. Otherwise the culture got raped out of us a generation ago. But I'm a city prick so you'd better wait for a rez native to reply.

Indians ate bark. I tried to make a thread about it a long time ago. No one bit. But they did eat tree bark. I don't see why modern people can't learn to safely harvest and prepare bark.

Indians also regularly used fasting in the winter season to save food/ Personally I fast one day a week.

http://mentalfloss.com/article/22597/tree-bark-eating-beginners

I had several sources detailing harvesting and preparation but I'm too lazy to find them now. Just google "eating bark"
