DEAR READERS L.Q. Vence asked for a recipe for Chicken on a Stick, which he described as deep-fried chunks of chicken, new potatoes, onions and dill pickles. While walking across the Oklahoma State Fair grounds during the fair, I saw a big sign that said "chicken on a stick." It was owned by Camellia Dennis of Naples, Texas, and she graciously told me how she makes them.

She cuts chicken breasts into about 2-inch squares and threads them onto craft sticks. She mixes equal parts of pancake mix and flour, seasons it with salt and pepper and suggests you add your favorite spices. She has to keep hers rather mild, because she's cooking for the public.

The chicken is dipped in the dry flour mixture then in buttermilk. She does this twice before frying it in deep fat heated to 360 degrees.

She doesn't include potatoes, onions and dill pickles with the chicken, but they should cook as fast as the chicken, so thread them on also, if you like.

sprinkle some bartender's friend in there and give it a scrub.

I find it odd that the powdered cleansers are so friendly... "barkeeper's FRIEND", "bon AMI".

Hey guys, I'm trying to make a party cheese salad, can you tell me if you can think of any additions to this one?

I'm preparing for 4 people, so I attached a picture of 4 people sitting around a table.

Auntie M's Party Cheese Salad

ingredients:

2 small or 1 large Lemon or lime jello
med size can crush pineapple
8 oz cream cheese
1 green bell pepper chopped
1 small jar of pimento
1/2 cup chopped celery
8 oz Cool Whip
1/2 cup nuts - Chopped
1/2 - 3/4 cup shredded american cheese
Directions:

Dissolve Jello in Pinapple in sauce pan (low heat)
Add chopped up Cream cheese stir until melted.
Add bell pepper, celery & pimento with nuts. mix.
Add cool whip
mix all ingredients and pour in 9x12 glass casserole dish
sprinkle with cheese
Refrigerate. for 4 hours

I threw in a frozen marie calander chicken alfredo tv dinner, and made a few nuggets and batch of fries in the deep fryer to go with it. Really good.

Lets discuss fast food dollar menu items. Best value, most filling, tastiest, most nutrition, worst items. Who has the best value menu? Who has the worst? Is there even a point in eating fast food if you aren't getting quick garbage from the dollar menu?

For me, Taco Bell and McDonalds have the most solid dollar menu. I don't care for McDonalds food much but if I'm in a hurry their dollar stuff is convenient, consistent, and lots to choose from. My favorite dollar items are Taco Bells cheesy bean and rice burrito (perfect) and the value chicken sandwich from Jack in the Box. Jr bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's is solid. Burger King dollar menu is complete shit, I'd just order a whooper.

The cheesy b&r burrito is alright, definitely filling for a dollar. I'm partial to the soft chicken tacos at del taco.
Also, the crispy chicken sandwich at Wendy's just recently went from .99 up to 1.19. Lame.
