You'd need to find a local toy/comic show to set up a table at. I attend a number of shows and spend a decent amount of money on art. Especially stuff that's a little off the beaten path (but not gross, like all the bloody vampire zombie goth crap). Although I think you would've done much better with MLP 2-3 years ago. Still, I'd probably but one if I saw it at a show.

Despite having an irreplaceable asset based built around one of the single most valuable pipelines in North America (Transco which is a regulated gas pipeline connecting the Northeast with the Gulf Coast), WPZ is trading at ~.5x book value, 8x EBITDA (not a tax payer) and carrying a 14%+ dividend yield (that is classified as a return of capital and therefore pays no tax). The stock is down 54% YTD and is trading at multi-year lows…despite EBITDA estimates for 2015 being revised less than 10% over the last year. For perspective, EBITDA is growing 25-30% this year and for the next couple of years.

I think the future is strong. There is a shortage of pilots across the industry due to mandatory retirement ages and the 1500-hour rule that the FAA instituted after the Colgan crash (assuming you're in the US).

The problem is how the industry is structured. You pay your $60k to go through the ranks privately (PPL->IR->CPL->Multi->CFI), do your CFI duties, then get hired for a shit-tier regional making $10/hr for five years. Then, you move to the world of mainlines and make the real money. As long as you're not a moron, you can be pretty much guaranteed six figures later in life, working maybe half the month, and travel benefits for you and your family (if you still want to travel). But it's 7-10 years of grueling existence to get on that gravy train. I don't see this changing in 30 years.

If you're going to have a day job the best thing would be to set up a mutual fund that reinvests and focus on your day job. If you need the money for something (or you want to do some enterprise, such as the apartment idea), it depends on what's available in your area and your stomach for risk.

Don't remember? It was called 'Merchanting' and it's still the best thing to do. Buy low, sell high.

People on eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, etc. are constantly looking for things to buy and you can constantly be finding those things for significantly cheaper than they're willing to pay. The real $$$ comes once you find a few clients that are, by nature of their reason for purchasing, going to be repeat-customers so you get more into a schedule.

There are places on the internet to buy things in bulk (Alibaba, etc.) or you might just find a better deal on something on one of the competing websites. You get them for less and you sell them for more. It's easy in theory but it takes work to make money.

This is what I do. I'm currently posting from South Africa but I'm only visiting. I spend about a quarter of the year living in Canada (with my parents) but the rest of the time I'm abroad.

Are other people making more money than me with less effort / better strategies? Fuck yes they are. But I'm staying in my own lane while saving because this is what works for me right now.

I spend ~6 hours working per day but I usually work 7 days a week so it's not like I'm a master of passive income or anything like that either, OP. Just fair warning.
