>tfw fell for the mutual fund meme
i'd have lost less money just sticking it in a bog standard savings account
kill me
>>1048514
Nothing wrong with mutual funds. Markets go up and down, that's normal.
Why do you fucking /r9k/ shitposters keep posting this?
>tfw I have lost a substantial amount of money in my retirement account and personal investing account
G-good thing I wasn't planning to retire anytime soon. Surely the market will recover and I will make all of this money back.
Anyone here in a HR department?
Thinking about careers and figured /biz/ would be honest about what it's like/if it pays well/whether it's a sack of shit ect ect

Kek, I like the description, do you have a pic to illustrate what you mean?

How would you say I'm doing?
It's a demo account and I barely started two days ago.
>>1048228
its just noise... you don't really know what you're doing - you've made a handful of trades and expect a conclusion from that?
>>1048228
Irrelevantly.
Use real money and come back in a year of forex trading to show us that you broke even, let alone made anything above minimum wage.
>>1048228
how long are you in on the trades for on average?
what are your financial goals?
what's your strategy?
how long are you gonna practice on demo for before you go live?
how much are you gonna start with when you go for a real account?
without knowing that, all i can say is this: you are making money and that means you're on the right track.
Anybody here have experience selling through amazon?
How do you like Amazon's service? And do you manage to make a profit despite all their fees? How do you deal with the consumer tax/ income tax of it, are you a registered business?
>How do you like Amazon's service?
Somewhat, they'll phone you about some stuff when necessary and try to help keep you in the boundaries, but if you are locked out from selling a product and don't have full invoices you're fucked (even if bought 2nd hand)
> And do you manage to make a profit despite all their fees?
Yeah, but you've gotta factor that in before even buying items. If you go to the final stage of listing a product you see how much money you receive from the sale after fees, so I use that figure before buying stock.
> How do you deal with the consumer tax/ income tax of it, are you a registered business?
I'm not, but itd also not be worth me registering. A lot of sellers either are individuals or small companies, so it can't be that hard.
>>1047389
thanks for the response
>if you are locked out from selling a product and don't have full invoices
could you elaborate on this? I'm not quite sure what you mean by being locked out from selling a product
As to the taxes, does amazon simply give you the cash and have you deal with taxes, or do they subtract taxes and give you the tax free money?
>>1047347
Make sure you have at least a 30% margin because that's how much they take in fees and shipping shortfalls. Add another 20% if you're in a category with a higher percentage of thieves and serial returners. If you can still make a profit after that, hats off to you.
hey biz
just transferred my pension into a self invested personal pension. (UK).
this allows me to invest in anything, I've got a feeble £20,000.
where do you see the bottom of this market? I'm looking at mostly bluechips with some vanguard funds.
any thoughts or advice for a poorfag.
>>1047305
A friend suggested the following to me years ago:
Equal parts of VTI VEU VWO.
VTI is US heavy, so you add VEU to balance it out with non-US stocks. After you add that in, you are heavy on developed economies, so you add VWO to balance things out a bit more.
>>1047305
oil is close to rock bottom, watch for oil stocks pushed excessively low by panicking speculators
>>1047305
I see you're using HL here.
I have a Legal and General FTSE All Share to track the UK stock market and a vanguard fund for the USA. Some others for other regions like Europe and Japan. Look at the Index funds on offer under the funds tab.
I also have a select few bluechips with strong dividend performance too.
And don't worry OP, we all start somewhere. I have less than half of what you and I'm adding £500 a month.
gofund.me/kkk2g3d8
nah, the guy who posted the one about shark surgery has something but this is just trash.
I was going to start a business in Norway importing wares from the US, but that was before new year 2016 and the chinese stock market cash
Do i have anything to win starting imports at a later time, in say 3 or 6 months time? Weaker USD etc. but im not sure how much the Norwegian NOK follows, besides we are heavily dependent on the oil prices for our welfare state (yes, that's actually what the gov has named it since forever)
Am I retarded for asking?
What does this mean?
If the number is 200 000 does that mean that last week 200 000 people become jobless who were not jobless before?
>>1048882
So the 200 000 are added to the number of already unemployed?
Does it make any sense to own a home these days?
>>1048769
let me rephrase that, does it make sense to owe hundreds of thousands to the bank for "owning a home"?
Does it make sense that the world fits perfectly in a one size fits all answer to your question?
Whether owning a home is financially wise or not depends on multiple things, all of which has been rehashed on /biz over and over again. Some of them including location, rental prices, mortgage rates, age, employment prospects, etc
Currently my point of view is no, I'd rather take my 20% down-payment and put it into riskier investments... I guess this will change as I get older but I don't see a problem with renting a top-tier town-home for $900 where everything is taken care of for me so I can focus on growing my investments.
Hopefully by the time I desire a home I'll be able to buy one with cash, in full
I just opened a kickstarter on GoFundMe and just wanted some advice on what you guys think about it.
Before you say that I am some sick piece of shit, please understand that this is something that I truly want to become.
The picture is the link to it.
Thanks!
You're a sick piece of shit.
I am fixing to found a company with a sibling. We are planning to split 50/50, as we are both going to be working on the frontlines. While we do that I was going to have my spouse take care of the scheduling and home line. Well, I talked to my spouse about it and it seems that my spouse is being very sketchy about it. She wants 30% of the company just to pick up a phone and put a date on the calender. What should I do biz?

Are you a lesbian?

Can someone explain to me why I shouldn't just put all my money into a Vanguard ETF that has been performing exceedingly well for the last few years?
Is it literally that easy as to just buy as much of it as I can and wait?
Why exactly do daytraders and such exist when you can seemingly just buy one security and receive above average returns on it?
The allure of potential 20+% returns. Most vanguard funds aren't sexy and are passive investments. Nothing wrong with that but it irks some idiots who think they won't blow up
>>1048334
Some of the ones I've looked at literally boast 10%+ p/a since conception...
And considering this shit statistically beats nearly all actively managed funds that people keep saying, isn't that pretty much le secret trick?
Why do people even bother insetad of just dumping in their money into those kinds of ETFs and sitting back?
>>1048418
Because people want to be rich NOW not in 20 years.
What's the easiest trade to land a job in?

I'm a software dev at a large company and I want to try sales. Do I just ask for a job at startups or what?
Just why the fuck would you go from being a software dev to sales? Sales is for people with not so many marketable skills other than being good conversationalists/story tellers. If you are a dev, stay where you are and bust your ass on your own skill set.
>>1047489
dev doesn't pay well in germany
Just keep doing what you're doing until you can work your way into some kind of business development role. That way you can leverage your technical knowledge and also get sales exposure.
