I don't know if this is the place to ask, but I've searched already and I can't find anything other than just delaying it.

I have loans I need to pay off from Sallie Mae. My monthly payment is $1154 and they said I cannot lower that because of contracts. But $1154 is literally impossible, even with the two jobs that I have.

What can I do? Is there literally no way to lower that? Is there any program out there willing to help people? Or should i just sell some organs?

Put it on hardship deferral for six months.

This gives you some time to get ahead of it and get another job.

What is your degree in?

Also, fuck your loans. You first pay your housing, food, utilities, and transportation, and then you worry about loans. That's their problem if you run out of money, not yours, at least for now
>>

I can defer it for up to 12 months, but I don't know how much that will help me.

My major was Game Development and Simulation but I only got an Associates degree.

If I don't pay, then they charge my mother $700 each month and my credit goes to shit.

For those who took out student loans
If you could do it all over again, would you still take out the loan or take an alt route?

Easily would have avoided it and some of the shitty "schools" I went to. When you're a fresh out of high school kid you're naive. And it doesn't help when you have no adults who know what they're talking about and steer you the wrong way. When I was graduating in 2005 all the people I knew either never went to college or went to college under a different system and better economy. So you have no one to warn you. I think that's why you have so many people telling kids not to get loans and find another way.

Go to a cheap school. Get a job. Live with parents. Etc. Loans are shit. Avoid them as much as possible.

If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.

No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or Yahoo/Google finance for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

ITT we share business ideas
Bonus points if it easy/simple to start.
Mines a simple and unoriginal one. The pine straw business
>buy land/rent land with long leaf pine
>pay Mexicans $1 per bale
>sell them at $4
This one is great because you don't even have to own the land. You can just go to someone that does and pay them a small amount to essentially clean their land. Then you hire some people to make the bales. All you have to do is pick up the bales and take them to market.

If you do decide to buy the land it will eventually pay itself off and then turn a profit.

Aside from lower interest rate loans offered from a credit union, any reasons to use one or the other?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Credit unions are just better all around if you don't need very specific resources usually tailored to larger corporations.

Both institutions are designed to earn profits for their owners. The difference is that in a credit union, the people with accounts are the owners.
>>
Great question. I might be oversimplifying, but a few decades ago, the credit unions were considered a 'better' choice for most people. The board who managed all the money and loaned it out were democratically elected by the people who had accounts in the credit unions. It didn't seem like there was much advantage to a bank, which was for-profit for the people who ran it, until they became FDIC insured.

I don't know about the case for nowadays, though. Sorry.
>>
>>1562609
Federal credit unions (in the states at least) are insured by NCUSIF. It fulfills a similar function to the FDIC. Not all state credit unions are insured the same way, but plenty of them are NCUSIF insured.

can someone explain this to me? Why does it matter if you have a great credit score and a lot of credit open to you if you live within your income stream?

If you're smart enough to earn that much money and have a credit score, why would you even think about using it?
39 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Real estate is one of the best investments you can make, but not all of us have hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars just lying around to buy property outright.
>>
>>1562502
Getting a low interest rate on a home loan is beneficial for your income stream, because it gives you more principal to invest and diversify your income. The same goes for all big purchases that you could use a loan for.

The way to get a good rate on these loans is to have a good credit score.

Using loans gives you far more range to accrue capital. Do you think people who rent out property to people purchase all of their houses in full? No, they can buy multiple houses and rent them out by having a good credit score.

Mortgage has its etymology in two French words, Mort for death and gage for chain but getting into that arrangement is entirely subjective and yeah, people need a roof over their heads. Upside down world. Credit rating should really be called a debt rating, credit cards debt cards, debit cards credit cards. Basically just a symptom of a debt based economy through fractional reserve banking as opposed to a credit based system which the world has never know and never will. Get now pay later has great traction to the huddled masses.

It was good in 2010. Now it's very hard to find a niche that hasn't been capitalized on yet. Competition is fierce and you'll have no control over managing your product to make it better than the competition, so you'll be competing with others mainly on price and customer service.

That's just a slippery slope. You can make money, but it's not worth the time at all.
>>
There will be competition in everything. I think the trick would be to have a nice store with very unique domain.
>>
>>1562513
So it's better to create a product and sell it? A product that somebody needs (relieve pain) or a trinket that's cool (etsy stuff, fun thing to have)?
>>1562851
What do you mean with "nice store and unique domain."?

DUMBASS QUESTIONS THREAD

I'll start-
So, I keep seeing stories like 'X asked for $20k, but got $100k'
What the fuck do I do with the rest if this happens? How much can I legit spend as 'salary' for myself?
I gotta eat and live, so say I raise that $100k, do I have to spend that all on the business?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1562458
What's the fucking context
>>
>>1562766
The context is, for instance, I keep seeing successful projects on crowdfunding sites,
Where they get more than what they asked for.

>asked for $20k capital
>received $100k

Not all of them obviously, but it seems the top 20% of successful projects seem to attract a surplus of cash.

Specifically, product development, a work of art, book, play, project, etc

Is it just expected that all that money gets spent on the project?

I know, people have worse problems, and having 'too much money' is a nice problem to have, I just don't wanna scam anyone or be a total Jew, it's just that naturally, there is gonna be a time cost to this, and that means other means of income will likely have to be set aside in order to complete the project.

Say with he above example, the full cost of delivering said project is $50k, so it was more than the $20k I expected, I have a $50k surplus, now what? Is that just mine to spend? Am I expected to just splurge it on marketing, etc?
>>
>>1563650

Usually the terms of how the money is to be spent is included in the crowd funding campaign. Some campaigns are purely for business capital (so a product can be manufactured at a lower cost, say), and sometimes they might include a salary or some sort of payment for the person or company.
One of the caveats of "investing" in crowd funding campaigns is that after you put up the money you don't have a day in how your money is put to use, and you can find many, many successful campaigns where the money ended up being squandered.
