So what's your excuse for not owning bitcoin in the current year?
i want to be a millionaire when i hit 70.. no fast gains for me thanks
>>1567621
i have a tiny penis
>>1567621
I just inherited $10K. I'm thinking about just keeping it in a checking account as an emergency fund. It's not enough to do anything worthwhile with other than that. Am I wrong?
>>1567613
Go to the bank you were thinking of opening a checking account with and ask them this question; "If I only had $10,000 to invest what would you suggest I invest in?" Decide from there.
>>1567617
This is the worst advice ever. Don't do this OP. Do your own research.
>>1567613
If you have no emergency fund then yes. Then you look forward to emergencies more than you normally would.
Hey guys, after some months experiencing the high risk market (crude mainly), I'm interested in knowing more of the companies market, and more "safe" investment. I would like to hear some advice from you on this thing, to not lose all my money.
Use a hedge you shrub
hedge with gold or bitcoin.
>>1567590
you'd have to define safe. the safer it is, the less return.
you can put your money in a bank account with compound interest for 100% chance of gains... with average of like 5% a year for 50 years..
or you can try buying all the pump and dumps of OTC stocks with a 65% chance of gaining 50% and 35% chance of losing 30% in 20 minutes (i'm just making these numbers up but you get the idea)
its all up to you and what you find is acceptable
Hey guys. In my country, the government is very incentive. They want people to start more businesses, increase production, lower unemployment etc.
They are giving around 16k$ for employment and equipment expenses and also giving zero interest loan of 32k$ which you start paying back after 2 years and use it for the salaries of your employees and your rent etc.
They are giving this money and loan even to local restaurants, carwashers, patisseries, bakeries etc. As a chemical engineer, I feel confident that I'll be approved for the support since I'm planning on producting industrial chemicals (havent decided what to produce yet. Will do an advanced market research).
I'll be chemical engineer in 2 years and I used to HATE it. Now that I have a chance to be my own boss and work for myself, I actually started to show interest in it. As you know, most of the businesses fail within a few years. "But" I also hope to believe that the financially illiterate idiots who cant even do simple income/cost accounting or lazy people who don't work for their businesses fail and lower the statistics.
My question is, I REALLY want this to work. I've already started reading economics, working on my financial literacy etc.
On what subjects would you recommend a future-business owner to develop himself?
I'm thinking of chemistry (Obv, as a chemical producer and engineer), accounting, entrepreneurship.
Read Richdad Poordad, Cashflow Quadrant, Wordly Philosophers so far.
Emotional Intelligence, Alchemist, 4-Hour Workweek, The Richest Man In Babylon, Think and Grow Rich, MBA Personal, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Steve Jobs, 100$ Startup are on my list.
I'm trying to be as spesific as possible so you'd get the idea.
Also, would you recommend finding a mentor?
>>1567536
what country?
is there a product you could make that has a market? would you create a new market? what would be your exit plan if things don't work?
you can learn as much as you want for free on the internet. but consider that if the author of the book make their money from selling their book, they teachings are worthless.
>>1567549
>what country?
Turkey
>is there a product you could make that has a market? would you create a new market? what would be your exit plan if things don't work?
I believe that I could make tons of different products I could make that has a market. Chemistry may be the widest market there is. Cosmetics, medicine, construction, dye, textile, oil, plastics etc etc. I don't know if I could create a new market. I just found out this "capital giveaway-support" thing and havent done my market research. Took a class about this, will do my research and also will talk to my professors aswell. Taking their opinions. My exit plan would be selling the equpiments and shutting the business down. I plan on not starting too big and having some breathing space for unexpected expenses. If I cant make it work, I'll go back to plan B. Take the 2-year course and be a commercial pilot (Which is kinda my dream job but I still prefer opening up a business because I'll be my own boss)

Get the fuck outta here.
I would like to do this as a side project to a normal job
waterless carwash services
I come to you spray down your car and let sit for a few seconds then wipe it down with microfibers i would ask $20 if you want the interior cleaned $10 extra for a basic vacuuming and trash removal
The only thing im worried about is most people with have a problem with it since im not using the traditional hose and bucket method and it takes me less than 30 minutes to clean my full size truck top to bottom but still the results are flawless cleaning my own car
what does biz think? I have alot of ideas for marketing but this is the only thing that troubles me

Charge more and use words like "green" and "sustainable"
"you damaged my $10k paint job!"

This sounds like a big liability. People are assholes when it comes to their rust buckets.

What is the point of anything?

How do I nigger proof my house?
I already got the sound proofing done, negotiating with a contracter to get vines to swing on, planted a banana tree in the backyard. What's my next step?
Good luck with all the repair bills. And good lucking evicting them and dealing with vacancy as you go through all the red tape again.
It's really only worth it if you have a large apartment complex.
What are eviction laws like in your municipality? That's the most important thing to look for.

Why??? Dont u get less money and more problems?
>Trump doesn't pay any taxes
Why are Americans so financially illiterate?
Hillary has never invested her own money to create jobs
>>1567428
Because there are literally no required courses for finance in mandatory school
>>1567428
But he literally didnt u Drumpfkin. He evaded taxes for 2 decades with loopholes that only the rich are allowed to use. That makes him a big part of what crashed the economy in 2007 was the elites not paying their fare share
Hello, I'm thinking to put my first investment in BTC/USD FOREX. Someone with experience may give me some advice? What about to test my luck in this weekend?
It's a small amount, 0.001 BTC, only to test.
>>1567418
Don't do it.
>>1567419
Why?
btc usd is a good pairing. BTC is up $40 in just 3 weeks. massive gains if you have alot of BTC x USD to play with. dont forget to buy BTC dips

Anyone know of 30-60 minute lectures on youtube that talk about economics like Milton Friedman? I'm trying to find another person to listen to.
>>1567392
Gary Becker has some good talks. He's a direct colleague of Friedman.
>>1567853
Thanks I'll check him out.
>>1567392
Why would you listen to Friedman? He's just another free market fag who's only contribution was furthering the development of new keynesianism. He was wrong on saying that the Velocity of money can be used to determine inflation. He was proven wrong on his long term consumption function. He was wrong on the lagging of monetary policy. I could go on. There is just absolutely no reason to be a monetarist anymore.
Is internet money a meme?
It genuinely pisses me off that a 14 year old kid can post videos of himself riding a scooter around can grow his youtube channel into a million dollar income magnet just because he posts clickbaity bullshit videos every fucking day
The same thing goes for Instagram, pretty much all social media that will give you the opportunity to make ad revenue off clicks.
Is this talent of attracting viewers to bullshit in order to make money off ads an art form or just a meme?
It frustrates me and I feel like I should at least try to do it myself, but then again I want to tell myself the odds are impossible and these kinds of things wont be around in the next 2+ years.
How many people do you know who earn a living that way? See. You get about 1$ per 1000 views.
>>1567266
Why does it make you mad?
Are you also mad when you see lottery winners or children of trillionaires? Who cares focus on urself stop hating

>not having a wood-based economy
>renewable, albeit slow production (can't just "print" money)
>limited by growing space on planet Earth (limited supply)
>great incentive to reclaim land on Earth and terraform other planets to increase maximum supply (soft limit)
>wood can decay, which makes controlling the wood supply more difficult (no point in cutting down all trees and hoarding the world's supply) - however, if properly stored, can be stored for a long time
>wood has innumerable actual uses which ANYONE of ANY socioeconomic class ANYWHERE in the world can employ (other reasons to use wood rather than hoarding it)
Wood standard is the way to go.

Hi guys,
I have been reading the posts in biz and I'm surprised that most of you choose to do active investing, even if all the academic literature says that in the long term active investing produce returns close to 0, while passive investing gives you returns close to market's.
So, do you guys have some econometric forecasting model that justifies your decision making, or are you just stupidly investing with your guts?
>>1567112
I want to learn.
I won't learn anything if I put everything in an index fund. I contribute into a pension fund for long term security.
It's like asking why people play football when they could just watch professional games on TV instead.
>>1567112
what academic literature are you referring to? is it just a statistics saying something like 9/10 people fail trying to trade stocks? no shit. 9/10 people are stupid. that 1/10 people are smart, and they're making bank compared to everyone else
>>1567171
I don't think you'll learn anything investing with your guts. And I'm not talking about putting all in an index, I'm talking about manage a diversified portfolio, minimizing risk (volatility) using correlations between the assets returns. All not diversified portfolio options tends to give returns close to 0 at long term.
>>1567190
I'm talking about the most famous academic writers, the ones that are being taught in almost all universities of the world. Independently of your level of stupidity there are almost infinite unpredictible variables that affect the price of the assets every hour, betting to an asset based in past trends it's proved to offer returns close to 0 at long term. You can be lucky and get positive returns at first, but in long term you will face losses. It's statistically proved :D
