Hi biz
I ran into some car trouble and it looks like it's gonna cost me near 5 grand to fix. I owe 6 grand on the car still. I don't have the money to pay the cost upfront and I don't think I'll be approved for the credit thing they have as an option.
It's currently sitting at a dealership service center. Not sure what to do here. Any advice?
I think I'm getting a personal loan....thoughts?
>>1566235
What's wrong with the car? How much could you sell it for as is?
>>1566356
Needs an engine replacement.
Less than I owe.
>working a minimum wage job near my house after graduating from university
>being seen and laughed at by girls I went to university with
>constantly see Chad and Stacey couples or groups of young school age Chads and Staceys out at night
This is humiliating and depressing. Who was the con artist that said that work gives any pride ever?
And pop songs played as muzak, which are the anthems of normies. Images of models and celebrities are shown everywhere. These are the people who post Instagram selfies gloating about "Puttin in da #work" when they had everything handed over to them due to their looks.
I've had graduate job interviews but everything, from finance to stem to public sector stuff, judges you solely on your normalfaggotry.
>>1566190
This is referred to as 'your 20's'.
Just wait for what's in store for your 30's.
Same, I have an engineering degree and have been working retail for two years not by choice.
>>1566190
No one wants to work with an ugly dude with poor social skills. Most people in white collar jobs just drink coffee and chat all day and maybe do two hours of work. When you're applying for work, you're not applying for a job, you're applying to be full time friends with Sarah from Marketing and Josh from Accouting. That's why you're a wage slave. This is the job where you're actually supposed to work.
Since I know literally nothing about investments, can't I just go to an investor and let him do all of my work for me? I heard investors work hard for you because they get a certain percentage of your earnings. Which is fine. I'm trying to build a passive income where I don't have to do anything.
The more work you put in yourself the higher returns you get. Advisors also don't take people with accounts less than 500k since the returns will be too small
>>1566202
Damn. So I have to do all the work myself? That really sucks man.
Unless you're ready to retire, don't focus on passive income at all yet. Capital growth first!
Bitcoin noob here.
After doing some trading I wanted to turn my bitcoins in to real, physical money. I can't really find any way to do this that doesn't look sketchy. Cex.io is giving me problems and I can't use that.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Coinbase.com
>>1566187
I always used kraken or bitcoin.de and never got any problem
>>1566187
Literally just sell your bitcoins to someone for cash
local-bitcoins or something
Hey /biz/, spoiled 19 year old with approximately 0 knowledge in finance.
I recently got my first credit card and have no idea what I'm doing.
Redpill me on how credit cards work and what happens when I don't pay what I used on my card.
Also whats the difference between pic related and credit cards poor people use?
Creditcards are methods of the bank to get you in debt because you live over your rations.
Interests are usually exorbitant and per monthly rate theres nearly no debt retirement
dont use it anon
Black Centurion has no spending limit.
Credit is you using other people's money. You don't have to, but it builds a history about your credit. If you use OPM(other people's money) and don't pay it back every 30 days your bill comes, then your credit history is bad and your overall score drops. If you use OPM and pay it off every month it signifies you are a good payer and will pay debt on time. Other things go into it like your Centurion has no limit, so how do they calculate credit utilization? They can't. So basically holding your card doesn't even really require anyone to check you out, but for plebs, if they use 30% or more of their limit, they are high credit users, which can be good or bad, but it's always good if you pay it off on time, that's all.
now... if you can't pay the bill one month... PAY THE MINIMUM AT LEAST, so you don't get collections up your ass
>>1566158
Use it now and always pay your debt the quicker possible.
You'll get a good credit that will serve you once you will need a lend. (shorter % to pay for the bank since you didn't get any payment default)
Is being a landlord worth it. I thought about buying a decent house (around 150k) and renting it out. I can put down over 30k. Which means I will owe about 700 dollars a month, but in the area I can charge over 1k a month. Just need some opinions.
>>1566157
If you're asking if passive income trumps wagecuckery, fuck off.
Yea, you have to find tenants and fix what's broken, but when it runs well, whew.
>>1566171
I don't read reel gud, more focused on being first.
Try and pay cash. Save up to $50k and find a shithole. Fix it up or get a renter who will fix it on their dime for decreased rent.
Flip it in a few years (assuming prices don't shit the bed) and move up.

How do I just make money? I have like 18k just sitting on my bank account and I do nothing with it. I am still in university but I got a good part time job that pays all my bills.
What should I do with my money? Should I invest it in something? If so what?
I have no idea at all about this subject. If you recommend me to read some books or stuff like that would also be apreciated.
TL:DR I just want to make money off my already existing money. pls help

This is what I read when I was starting out. If nothing else, it made the whole thing seem a hell of a lot less scary.
As long as you're not a fucking moron (pro tip: ignore stupid shit like Trump Coin and URRE and all that garbage people hawk here) and stick to real, quality compamies.
Or just put it all in VYM. I have 400k and 250K of it are in VYM because that fund kicks fucking ass.

Thanks for the insight.
Does it make any difference that I am living in germany btw?
Okay /biz/, I've been looking for a job for some months without any succes. I have a degree in communication management, but it's a meme degree. So I figured out I'd school myself to become a web developer. After going through some e-learning sites, I found this LinkedIn Learning course: https://www.linkedin.com/learning/paths/become-a-full-stack-web-developer
Does anyone know if this is legit? Or are there better options like Lynda.com etc?
Web Dev actually isn't hard to learn at all, but no one is really going to take you seriously with just a "certificate" of any kind under your belt. You either have to get a degree or get ready to bust your ass for FREE to build a portfolio.
Either:
Get another degree.
Or
If you're desperate, learn a trade.
Or
If you REALLY want a job (that doesn't pay like shit), join the army.
>>1566134
firstly see
>>1566741
Secondly, tech is a very competitive field and self taught programmers kinda come in at a disadvantage from those with a traditional degree. But with a beautiful portfolio and some guerilla networking you could find the same kind of job as a degree fag. What would be easier and make you more money would be getting a couple of info science certs.
Which career is more fulfilling?
Finance or Law(yer)?
I'm about to graduate and I realised I don't really want to pursue a career in finance or other business jobs. Unless I got into IB or M&A, my options are basically working in advisory or audit, which sounds shit.
BTW, I have the grades to get into a top school. Discuss.
>>1566070
I'd say law, cause it has more facettes than just hunting the customer and sell him shit you dont even understand yourself
Before deciding, check this link out
http://thirdtierreality.blogspot.com/
Scary stuff
>>1566089
Good job kiddo, you just proved to everyone that reads your posts that you don't understand finance.
>Protip: just because you don't understand complex financial instruments, doesn't mean that people who actually work in finance share your ignorance
OP, go into Law then transition to Finance later if you feel you've grown tired of practicing Law. Just be warned, securities law (law within finance) is basically just submitting paperwork to regulatory agencies all day, every day. You'll never have to see a court room in securities law, though.
How do people live like this and not want to blow their brains out?
>>1566050
They do want to - however, they don't dare to do so.
>>1566050
in 2014, .013% of americans did blow their brains out...
They delude themselves in to happiness looking forward to the 2 days they do have off
/biz/, should I feel sorry for people that cant hold down a steady job because they are too stupid/lazy? Or should I not give a fuck because thats natural selection and they just fade away into homelessness and drug addiction?
I work at a place thats been trying to get new employees for months now, and we keep getting these fucks have have "tragic life storys" like how they used to be involved with shady people and need to get their life on track, or they have to walk to work erry day cuz they had they liscense taken away by the pohleese.
I think "Okay, fine whatever, so long as they can do the job...", but then i start training them and they cant even follow basic instructions and commands. You leave them alone for half an hour so you can attend to your own job, and when you check on them they've fucked everything up.
We've gone through alot of people like this now, and I kind of feel bad for firing them and they get all upset. But Im starting to wonder if I should even feel remorse for these types of people.
>tried hiring several guys who on their very first day of work, are already trying to bum smokes off other employees and asking if they can get a $20 pay advance
>>1566016
You should feel bad your taxes will go to paying for them to survive for the rest of their lives.
>>1566016
Yes they are messed up. Yes it's not fair. Yes you should help them if you can. Employing them when they are hurting your business is not helping them. Giving them pay advances is not helping them. Catering to their every whim because they are in a struggle is not helping them. Simply treat them like any other employee. That is how you help them. It is up to them to figure their life out, all you can do is provide them a fair chance at being a good employee.
>>1566016
There was a quote I saw one day saying something along the lines of
"The reason the world went to shit is because we didn't care enough to do something about it. We didn't help other who were worst off than we were, so long as we are just enough better than them, we should only worry about ourselves. And that's were we went wrong. We didn't care enough to help others that needed a little help."
that quote there isn't word for word, i couldn't find it online. i think it came from a movie or something. the main idea being that "we" normal people that just 'get things' see people who don't 'get things' as easily, we can fall into a trap of snobbery, instead of being a good neighbor and making them better people.

Who regulates the market and who punishes?
So my interest in day trading has spiked again, and I've been doing a lot of reading on the subject/playing with a Questrade practice account. There is so much to learn. I have about $1000 I can start with. My profit target isn't huge, as long as I'm making small consistent gains that I can build my bankroll with.
Does anyone know where I should start or have any strategies for someone with zero experience?
Thanks
>>1565925
just promise me you will stop when you lose the 1000
I plan to continue to use the practice accounts until my gains are consistent enough to begin using real money
around same situation, so bump.
For all the great name fags we lost (not really)

> How is it free?
They invest your unsettled funds after a trade. It's also pretty basic shit.
> When is it coming to my country?
Never. They only have plans on an Australian beta.
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.
> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
Stocktats wasn't made for nothing. That shit doesn't belong here!
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or Yahoo/Google finance for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.
