I'm terrible with economics' terminologies, so keep the fancy words to a minimum.
I don't quite grasp what investing in stock does.
I understand it like this..
You have a company.
I buy a "stock" (whatever that is) that is worth $5.
Your company grows successful.
A stock is now worth 10$.
I sell this stock back to someone for 10$.
I just made a 5$ profit.
Is it really as simple as that?
I still don't get how the company does profit off of that.

The company issues shares (aka stock) to fund some of its purchases, so that it doesn't have to take on so much debt.
When the company grows successful, it can return some money to its owners (of which you are one if you've bought shares in it). This is known as a dividend.
Alternatively it can buy back some of its own stock so that each remaining share is worth more. Or it can expand or take over other companies, which can have a similar effect.

You buy stock in a company when you want to own a piece of the company. If the value of the company goes up, your share value goes up. You can sell shares to get actual cash to spend. You do get a dividend, but fuck that shit - who wants a dividend? Warren Buffett has never paid a dividend because it is better to plow the profits back into the company and drive the stock price higher.

Why would someone want to buy shares after anyway?
Let's say I buy an action/a stock for 5$.
10 months later, that stock is worth 10$.
Is my profit ONLY coming from the potential sale I can make?
If I'm stuck with that action/stock that no one wants to buy, I'm practically stuck with a 10$ I can't use?
I still don't get how companies make profit on this.

There are people 3 years younger than me who have graduated from 3 year degrees in England and are working in graduate jobs. I'm working menialshit. My CV has good academic stuff, multiple previous jobs, but no extracurricular positions and I went to my nearest university which wasn't as good as the ones I could have gone to if I put thought in to my choice.
Society is a scam. I was pretty much branded a dunce as soon as my university name went on my CV, which decreases my chances of getting interview. I still got interviews with good employers due to my school grades but if you don't have a posh accent you stick out like a sore thumb. It doesn't help that I'm ugly as well.
I hate seeing all the students at my old university probably enjoying the time of their lives before being interviewed by slightly older clones of themselves.
In the UK, graduate interviews are purely tests of normieness. Nothing else. They throw softball questions and judge you on normieness. There are few filters apart from that.
Being a loser encourages me to disengage from a lot of stuff. My university's library is the best place to study but it is filled with ubernormies enjoying themselves. My city library has normie workers who look down on the type of people who go to a city library. Being on the bus, carrying a laptop in a bag, to study programming / apply for jobs is humiliating.
My old university had a low standard of course designed to keep admission high. It is filled with normies who were nothing like me.

I know plenty of people on here do PPC affiliate stuff but does anyone on here do SEO work?
I do OK right now, maybe $1k/mo between a couple small affiliate programs + Amazon affiliate. But I need to learn more about how to rank certain posts and how to gauge competition. I know backlinks are huge. I do use Ahrefs and it's amazing. But how do you gauge the quality of a backlink profile? And how would I estimate the # of backlinks I'd need to outrank competitors?
Anyone here with experience in this area? Or just advice for content-driven affiliate marketing?

Since most of you here like trading i thought some of you might be into online betting also because is a market i can read "easier"
I start with 100. Bet 20 on low odds like 1.15 - 1.30 and profit around 5 on every success, doing this most of the day and aim to profit around 40-50 a day. Sure there are losses every now and then but you can easily recover. And mostly bet on goals , like over 0,5 goals etc, so when 1 goal is scored the money is already in the account. Or bet that the first half will be draw or 0-0 and when 20-30 minutes pass u can cash out earlier and take the money

I hope this thread inspires people to do something with their life. I'm going to briefly explain how I live and what it took to achieve it.
Income:
Roughly $200k per year
Profession:
Software Dev (at a fortune 500 company)
Age: 33
What it took?
Had to work hard for four years in undergrad. Above 3.5 GPA computer science at a state school. After school I kept working hard..switching jobs every 2-3 years to get a pay raise.
Typical week..
Mon:
Go to work...leave late. Stop by a high end sushi joint on the way home and eat about $50 of nigiri sushi. Come home, play Vidya until sleep.
Tues:
Go to work. Come home..leave late again. Get home. Cook the next 3 day's dinner for 8/10 wife and myself (she does all other house chores). I cook with organic food that is delivered directly to our house. Open a $20 bottle of wine.Watch TV in house with wife or play Vidya till sleep.
Wed:
Similar to Tuesday, minus the cooking. Some days I will stop by a cocktail bar and drink about $30 in high end cocktails solo or with coworkers.
Thurs:
Leave work a bit early. Get home and eat. Go to gym. My wife is low libido but a solid 8/10 and very loyal to me, so Thurs is blowjob day. She sucks me for about 30 min until I finish. Play Vidya or watch TV after..maybe have a small amount of $50 bottle of whisky.
Fri:
Same as Thursday, but I fuck wife in the ass. Also, we'll order some Thai food.
Sat:
Hang out with friends, play Vidya, eat at a nice restaurant. Sometimes wife is out and I will pay some hot but unstable early 20's girls online up to $100 to take a shit for me on cam.
Sun:
Visit family. Eat at a salad joint. Errands and groceries. Have a nice craft beer or two. Fuck wife before bed.
Some other notes: I have enough budget to get a healthy carryout every day for lunch. I still manage to save at least $50k-$75k a year.

Typical Week:
class 3 times a week to 9:30PM, work late the other two days till 8pm, go back to live in moms basement, save money and help family with finance while paying some undergrad student loans
study on weekend
dont date bc no car and everyone in nyc is rich but me and moved outta mommys house
Life isn't the most comfortable but im kinda happy in a depressed, sad way.

Ive been on and off saving and suffering because whenever I save. I DO NOT SPEND.
I would steal/sneak food from stores, wear dirty clothes, do whatever it takes to not spend any kind of money.
It helps but it is a utter nightmare. People tell me to find a minimum to save every week to not suffer so muchbut I believe savingnisnt saving unless you ars putting in your maximum effort and profit.
Does or has anyone else gone through this?
