Are you friends with your co-workers? Do you socialize at work or outside of it? Good idea/bad idea? Are you a manager/owner who encourages this and has found it successful?
I know there's an antisocial sampling bias here but I'm wondering your thoughts
>>1648409
Never cross work with your personal life.
>>1648438
I agree. My managers/employer seem dedicated to convincing me otherwise.
I have never had a social outing with my coworkers/supervisors/subordinates, outside of work hours...
I think the biggest mistake of my career was not getting a beer with a senior guy from a different team in the same department...

be careful, huge liability if you pick the wrong one. Many smart great men get taken down by women. However, many men can be lifted higher by a great woman.
>finance
Start young, always be looking for opportunity to make more. Money should be looked at as a tool for freedom not to buy dumb shit. Learn as much as you can about business and take some risks.

try to get it for free. I took the military route and it was so worth it. I got an internship at a hedge fund because I had a leg up on all the college kids that had no experience. Don't enlist in combat shit tho, I was a meteorologist, which looks good on a resume.
> friends
find people that add value to your life and cut out the people that take value. Hangout with people that are better than you. Your ego will be hurt, but it makes you better.

I want to start a business, have a couple of interrelated ideas but how does one stop being ADD and actually fucking picking something?
I don't want advice on which particular business to go in, I want to because to work it out for myself, because I don't want to be paralyzed by decision making when I'm actually running said business.

You need to distill and settle on a course of action.

Sarcastic'Haha'. Okay smartass... where do I start? How do I distill? How do I settle? Is there a pattern or things in courses of actions I should be looking out for.
Sexy lady for your troubles.

You have to look at your local market and decide which sector has enough of a gap and growth potential to accommodate a new business.
If you don't know what that means then you should not start a business.

People with no college education, what do you do for a living and what are your expenses like?
I'm 22, and have been working at Target Distribbution since I was 19. I work 36 hours a week and take home ~$1,200 every 2 weeks. It's good pay for work that requires no skill, but 12 hour shifts can feel like forever with only 2 breaks. But then I always remember I get 4 day weekends. I would hate normal Mon-Fri 8-9 hour jobs. Would have no time to spend out in the ocean.
I pay $450/month for a private room/bathroom in a house. Roommate runs his own home reno business so he's gone a lot. He's in his 40s, divorced, and has his kids over like every other weekend or so, but I'm working. I own a truck I saved for when I was 19. I financed a 23' bay boat that I keep at a camper my Grandparents have at a campground down by the coast. I go there on my 4 days off unless it's snowing and either go out in the river or trailer it to the bay. Every 3 months when I get an extra paycheck, I'll put half towards principle payment on my boat and spend the other half on new fishing/boating gear. Kind of got out of the video game phase. Became addicted to saltwater playing keep away with sharks.
I really like Target. I don't understand why it has shitty reviews online. Must be niggers and spics complaining about being fired by their own fault. 99% of people fired here are temp workers that have poor attendance or don't care to keep up. I was like 350lb when I started there and was about to pass out my first night unloading trailers. They put me up front feeding and haven't sent me back ever since, despite having lost almost 150lb now. One night I jokingly asked the supervisor when she was going to teach me how to drive a fork lift and after lunch break, she got me on one.

Financial analyst vs underwriter
Looking for some advice on what the better career would be.
Underwriting is on the decline correct because of technology replacing underwriters? Even worth going into it now?
Long term prospects of both?
Financial analyst is better. Underwriting doesn't pay as much and the insurance companies are under huge pressure due to commissions on their products being hammered from the gov.
Get a degree in literally anything (yes I know that finance or accounting would be better) and then get your CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) degree studying on your own time. You're very employable and will have a bunch of flexibility as the industry changes.

I heard that you can deduct your taxes by claiming losses in your stocks since it's considered a capital loss. My question is does anyone know if there is a max amount if money they deduct? Like do they only deduct losses up to $5,000?
ill spoonfeed you but try google in the future
https://www.irs.gov/uac/ten-important-facts-about-capital-gains-and-losses
If your capital losses exceed your capital gains, the excess can be deducted on your tax return and used to reduce other income, such as wages, up to an annual limit of $3,000, or $1,500 if you are married filing separately.
If your total net capital loss is more than the yearly limit on capital loss deductions, you can carry over the unused part to the next year and treat it as if you incurred it in that next year.
Totally false. You cannot deduct losses in stock.

Nah, I'd rather you do my bitch work. That's the entire reason why I'm here.
So I have been looking at potential college majors and I am not sure what to pick. My grades in High school were neither poor nor stellar... but never the less I am attempting to get a college major that is both in a safe job market and will pay well. I have looked into Actuarial Science as my first choice but I am not sure if its a good idea or if there are way better choices. I am not lazy and just trying to see answers, so I am trying to say I have looked a lot into well paying jobs and the degrees needed for them. TY for any help. I took both Macro and Micro in Highschool and loved them. I also like science and math. I was better at sciences like chem over my math classes. Sorry I am a newfag
buy XDN
Get a Finance degree. Then you can become a financial analyst. Depending on who you work for you can make a shit load.
>>1647778
>Mediocre student, good at maths/sciences, likes chemistry
Let's keep things realistic. Don't go to university, instead go to a technical school/community college and learn to be a medical lab tech. It's a good middle class job and is in demand.
