I think if you do it with tact, it should be okay, open communication always works out for the best in my opinion. If she can't handle that and would rather play games then why would you want her around? You're already getting a bit annoyed and or confused at her girlfriend type behavior. So I posted here a few months back about whether I should end things with my Girlfriend. I have been with her for almost 3 years, we both had checkered pasts and we kept each other clean/sober and happy at first. But she has a few serious mental health issues arising from abuse in childhood. The symptoms of these were difficult to deal with but I tried my best because I thought she would get better.
She has made some half-hearted attempts at counseling or medication therapy before, and is even currently on some meds that seem to work. She has been involuntarily committed before and has previously made some innuendos about how mad she would get over being left, and how she and her friends have destroyed ex's cars, lied about them, and generally tried to make life hell for anyone who's wronged her.
I am miserable, I have no friends any more, and she even makes me feel guilty about going to work or school, or using my extremely limited money to buy her expensive gifts. I love her more than I've loved anyone but I am scared, and even my family is scared of what would happen if I left her.
I have seen a very good counselor who's helped me understand that even as a man, there can be "abuse" of the emotional variety from a female partner, and I feel like a pussy admitting it.
I have prepared meticulously for this, I already moved out a year ago, and I just moved again to someplace she doesn't know about. She knows where I work, and where my counselors office is.
Again, any advice, thank you all so much, today is the day I end things and I'm so scared.

How does divorce work?
I'm seriously contemplating divorcing my wife. She hasn't really done anything wrong, I've just been living with my terrible mistake for too long and I've finally started thinking it'd be better to end it and start anew than to keep telling myself it's not so bad. I got married at 20 to the second woman I ever dated (the first died of cancer) because I had no confidence in myself and figured I'd never be able to do better than this and I'd better put a ring on it if I don't want to be alone forever. I've wasted most of my 20's like this.
I will likely have to pay her alimony. I've been the breadwinner for 95% of the marriage, and she is an unemployable moron still paying off a useless degree. But I'm trying to figure out how they tend to calculate alimony. I always imagine the wife can just list off all the ways in which the husband was a shitty husband (didn't help out around the house, worked too much, etc) and the courts would increase alimony proportional to how sorry they feel for her. I could be completely wrong, but if that's the case I could be really fucked. I cheated on her 6 years ago and confessed to her soon after, we worked through it but I hate to think she could bring it up during divorce proceedings as a way to make me forfeit all my bargaining power. I don't mind dishing out the big bucks for a divorce lawyer, I don't even mind giving her half my current assets, as long as my monthly income isn't reduced to peanuts. I make about $50k a year in the military, an E-5 soon to be promoted to E-6

Never posted here before, not entirely sure why I am now.
Here's the situation, I've been friends with this girl since we were 4, I'm 21 now and I've found that I've fallen for her. It was such a gradual thing that I honestly couldn't tell you for certain when but I've been certain of that for at least 4 years now. I never told her because for two main reasons. I am left to wonder if there is any point to asking a question you know the answer two and one which you fear both the no and yes answers to. That said I've already decided that there is she deserves to know as do I, so as I stated at the beginning I don't know why I posted this here, maybe it just helps to type it out, hear some thoughts and prepare, or maybe not, I just felt that I should.
