Well it definitely not Ayumi, who tries her hardest to make me hate her for being a moron.
Why are these priced so highly on ebay? I have two in their boxes and I'm not taking them out because they're shit.
>>3759460
What the hell is that thing - Leafy's Sybian?
>>3759462
It's the SJ-200 joystick for the SG-1000/SC-3000.
The coleco Gemini had paddles that were nearly the same and they're priced high, too.
Also not sure why. I'm giving two away today actually.
Best Strider game? I only had an NES, but I admired the arcade game from afar
None of them are particularly good. And this was supposed to be Capcom's response to Ninja Gaiden.
Strider does more in 13 minutes than most games do in 8 hours.
Strider arcade is great, and the Mega Drive port it's fantastic too (worse graphics but better music and improved ending).
Strider 2 copy a lot of things from the first game but it's an interesting and fun game nonetheless.
So what do ya'll think about retro strategy guides?
Any collectors?
I have a ton from the SNES -> N64 era. Anytime I see one I don't have I instinctively snatch it up.
Also brady guides are the worst.
>>3759369
I have a lot of the Official Nintendo Power Guides starting from N64 era on. You always got one for resubbing for years so that's mainly why. I'm finishing up my NP magazine collection and then I'll start trying to own every NP guide.
I agree, Brady always has a lot of typos and misinformation, but some of their mid-2000s guides were better than Prima's.
I'll buy them if I already have the game and they are cheap. I rarely use them though and seem to find them after I already finish the game. The strategy guides from the 90s are great for nostalgia trips too.
I like old japanese guides. Don't have much of a collection yet but I'm thinking about getting more this year.
Video game sunsets.
Best colors.
How does /vr/ feel about this:
Purchasing actual or reproduction blank cases for the Sega Genesis, then printing off the Covers for all the original loose cartridges you have.
It's fine as long as you don't try to sell them to people under the pretense that they're the real thing.
I really couldn't care less.
Why would anyone have a problem with this unless you tried to pull this shit >>3759271
Does a X-FI pro elite worth it for 50 $ ?
>>3759173
Yes.
I have the X-Fi fatality and it works perfect for my 29 year old Casio keyboard thanks to supporting MIDI. So I can play my chip music directly into cubase and use all the new VSTs.
Sound quality is nice on those X-Fi cards and you have the same ports as me.
This might not be /vr/ topic related but it's better to answer than to be a douche bag.
Try using /g/ next time though.
Creative added support for Windows 10 not long ago and I tested mine just days ago and it works.
but DirectSound isn't part of Windows so EAX is emulated instead of hardware run like it should.
>>3759203
You can still get hardware sound through OpenAL, with EAX and everything. For old apps that don't use it, you can use alchemy which works by wrapping DirectSound to OpenAL. This might confuse some people because alchemy will still work if you don't have hardware openal and will use software instead.
>>3759216
Yes, forgot to bring up OpenAL even though I always Alchemy installed it after Vista.
Silly me.
Also, don't forget to install Console Launcher, since it's a separate installer so you can swap between the modes.
It's prone to crashing when you swap I heard. I didn't get any luckily.
Why were they such dicks?

What the fuck is wrong with you?
Dont't worry, op. Rock destroying ship and leaving them stranded on monkey island is cannon

Absolutely ebin! XD
Upboat to you, sir!
>>3758957
Is that a paperclip?
>>3758957
literally do not get it
Anyone still playing this?
>Yes, I turned Lyon into a Lich just 'cause his alignment was just right for a mage at that time.
>>3758931
Do ogres actually battle in this game?
>>3759140
No.
>>3758931
Best way to play this game is to restructure your army after every battle. Build around the characters that are not story related and cost far less money. That's how I do it anyway.
Are there any retro games as skill-demanding as competitive Smash?
Smash 64 is the only video game that made my hand hurt, it's that hardcore.
>you'll never be as good as isaiah
No. Clearly this children's party game is the most skill demanding game ever created.
>>3758830
What are some video games made exclusively for adults that demand skill?
Are there any good sprite animations out there?
I know of Secret of Mana, a classic one. Plus that Super Mario Z which won't see another episode in AGES. And the One Minute Melee and Death Battle videos.
Any other good ones?
Bonus points if they're voiced.
Uh...try newgrounds circa 2002
Kinda looking for a specific show for recommendation.
Well at the very least, Secret of Mana Theater's getting voiced.

Trying to hook my PS1 to an old LCD PC 4:3 monitor.
Tried it with the RCA to VGA converter that I use for my PS2, but seeing as the PS1 outputs 240p video instead of the 480p, all I see are frozen images of the game and I can hear the audio fine, even though I can see the PS1 opening splash creen with the Memory Card boot menu in real time, although it keeps on flickering.
What I'm thinking of doing next is getting a SCART to HDMI converter/upscaler so I can get the signal to 720p and then use a HDMI to VGA converter to get it to the monitor.
>inb4 just get a cheap old TV
I get that this isn't the most ideal of solutions, without spending 2000$ on low latency upscalers and I'd probably be better off with some old TV, but I REALLY need this to work with a monitor (anything else requires some serious rearrangement in my house), so any advice would be helpful.
Get an SD LCD
>>3758298
>SD LCD
Standard Definition LCD? How will that help?
Does the monitor support 15khz?
Was PAL really a better video format for retro gaming than NTSC over RF, /vr/?
PAL is bad. 50hz is unplayable, compromised trash regardless of any theoretical 'advantages' PAL has over NTSC. It's not out for debate anymore, it's been decided and the only thing worse for retro gaming is SECAM.

you know he just wants to bait people. report and move on.

Seemed like an oddly specific question for bate desu, even for /vr/
