I'm looking for an RPG where necromancy, demon summoning, blood magic, and the like are the main focus of gameplay. If needed I can homebrew something up using the Storyteller system but that's a last resort.

what's the secret to making interesting outdoor areas/dungeons for the party to explore? I don't like the "you're in a dense forest" simplicity often used, but navigation in open spaces often feels cumbersome and tedious. Game design techniques deal with closed rooms and doors, but it isn't easy to apply in cases like this

I want to make me some special tyranids, /tg/.
I want them to look like the bastard spawn of a threesome between Lovecraft, Giger and Beksinski.
I want them to have carapaces like rusted metal covered in corrupted growths, cadaveric flesh and crests of bone-white vertebrae.
I want horrid amalgamations of body parts, with human-like hands and faces jutting out from their alien bodies.
I want a Hive Tyrant with fiendish horns and an almost-human grin, and children faces with spider legs as Rippers.
I want to bastardize them with pieces from Bloodletters, Plaguebearers, Plague Drones, Zombie Dragons, Troglodons. I want to make a Carnifex with a massive bell hanging from overgrown, thorny horns, just for the sake of it.

I'm a sick bastard and I humbly seek suggestions.

Looking at the experience tables of Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale, I've noticed that the XP caps for the multiclass characters are different on the two series. So which one is the correct one? BG's hard cap of 8m XP or IWD's varying hard caps (presumably to let multiclass characters reach higher levels)?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'correct'. If you mean which is the correct one by AD&D 2nd edition rules, then neither are since it institutes a level cap on certain characters rather than an experience cap.

The games are just adaptations of the rules overall.

Get your rules from rulebook, not from vidya.
Correct answer is neither. There's no XP cap, or level cap, though most books don't have content past level 20. Except for those few than only have content past level 20.

I had a curious thought the other night.

What does it actually mean to play a game? Is it when it is my turn? Is it when I make declarations? Rolling dice, playing cards? What about my inner thoughts as I plan my next move?

>A small group of refugees that are feeling from some war torn/devastated land. They're not carry much in value, but might make good slaves/target practice

You are an evil lord and a group of heroes are plotting to lay siege to your stronghold.

How do you organize your defense? You have 150 points to spend.

Zombie: 1 point
Orc: 2 points
Skeleton Warrior: 3 points
Evil Musketman: 7 points
Evil Champion (pretty strong): 15 points
Evil Sorcerer (Curse spells): 25 points
Evil Sorcerer (Lightning spells): 30 points
Necromancer: 35 points
Dark Hero: 50 points

Castle Upgrages:

Stronger doors: 10 points
Moat: 15 points
Basic traps: 10 points
An evil voice to mock the adventurers: 10 points
Advanced traps: 25 points
A throne room decorated to reflect your evil nature (skulls, dark crimson drapes, bowls of burning black tar, golden ruby-embedded goblets etc.): 30 points

You can also take part in the combat. You can take two items and one armor. Your armory contains these items.
Armor: Evil magic robes, black spiked plate, leather armor, Body Oil of Protection.
Weapons: Two flails, two daggers, a longsword, a zweihander, a double-headed battleaxe with a skull for pommel, Staff of Dark Missiles, Staff of Green Flame, the Big Book of Curses, The Book of Demonology and the Crystal of Evil Weapon Enchantment

The heroes' group consist of the following champions:

A grandmaster marksman with a longbow and a short sword.
An adventurer who is an expert swordsman wielding a rapier and a cuirass for armor.
Wizard siblings, Luna and Sol, who argue with each other. Moon is calculative and collected, she's intelligent and distant. Sun is foolhardy but also a socially talented joke-cracker and a ladies' man.
A Dwarven strongman carpenter who can supply the bowman with arrows as well as contruct mechanical devices, ladders and other tools. He is extremely stout and strong. Likes drinking.
A female kobold thief who excels in poisons, improvised explosives, theft and illicit access.

This is one I am working on right now. Everything except the arms and legs is from some form of Space Marine Miniature or another. The arms and legs are from Anvil Industry. Currently awaiting a paint delivery in order to finish him up.

Played it during development. Good system, healing/damage mechanics were a bit clunky but I hear it was cleaned up by release. Other than that it's a pleasure to run and gives the players a good deal of control over what happens. Love the idea of the setting, but had a little trouble fleshing it out myself. Still need to read the full setting info now that it's out. Also still amused at how Duskwall became Doskvol, most likely to avoid stepping on Arkane's toes.

The system very much leans towards things not going as planned and the PCs scrabbling to improvise and get out of whatever shit they land themselves in. There's even a mechanic where players can earn them a bonus to a roll at the cost of some complication up front. The best moments are when someone takes the Devil's Bargain, fucks the roll anyway and then has to deal with the fallout from both.

Getting ready to run my first session in a few days but so far I'm a worried because I'm still unsure on how to handle combat with the pc's when it comes to things like groups or them fighting more then one person at once I would think I use a clock and work from there.

Another thing I'm kinda worried about is a good deal of players watches john harper run/play it on youtube and I have ran into a few during my times as a player that would get pissy that the gm is not doing all the same things as john even one saying "this is not how john harper gm's this". I for one never watched any of that stuff and I don't plan too but that "fan" base seems to be pretty fucking awful
