Storythread: lazy days of summer edition

This is a thread for creative writing of /tg/-related fiction, so epic campaign greentexts and other non-fiction go elsewhere. If you have /tg/ related stories to post, post them here, and hopefully some kind anon will give you feedback (or at least acknowledge that someone did actually read it, which let's face it is what writefags really want).

What counts as /tg/-related? Anything someone could plausibly use in a campaign (which means basically anything if you have enough imagination).

If you don't have a story ready then I and other anons will be posting pictures throughout the thread for you to test your writing skills on. This is, more or less, a world-building and character-building exercise: two vital skills for playing roleplaying games. If you don't have any pics to post, you could try posting an idea for a setting or a character, and maybe someone will be willing to write a story using it. It's also an exercise in writing though, where writefags can try out their material and gain inspiration, so if you just want to talk about world-building save it for the world-building threads.

Remember that writefags love to have feedback on their work. Writing takes a long time, especially stories that go over several posts, and it can be really depressing when no one even seems to read it (and the writer won't know you read it unless you leave a comment).

And since writing takes a long time remember to keep the thread bumped. Pics are good, feedback is better.

I spend this morning unraveling the mysteries and secrets of Tic Tac Toe, when I ended in the conclusion that this game is shit. The only way of wining is being the first to play and always doing the same strategy, and if you play second and have the correct number of chromosomes, it's really easy to end this game in a draw if the other guy doesn't know the strategy.

So here's my question, Anons: do you know a way to enjoy this pile of shit of a game? Any extra rules to make this shit be a decent game.

It's a solved game and neither side can force a win.

One variant I like is two flip two coins each move. If it's a head and a tail move as normal, if it's two tails you have to make a mark for your opponent, if it's two heads you erase a mark, one of your opponents if possible but if they don't have any you have to suicide one. It's not great but between the randomness and the inability to perceive future opportunities it's at least a little better.

Reverse tic-tac-toe where you have to play but the goal is to force your opponent to win isn't much better, but at least the strats aren't as obvious.

Ultimate Tic Tac Toe is a much more interesting game, AFAIK remains unsolved, but is pushing the upper limit for how far a game can go before it stops being tic tac toe to begin with.

Okay, I got a scenario for you;

Modern day Earth, except with magic. Wizard duels are a sport.

The adventure/s: a big wizard duelling tournament event, mage duellists from around the world are coming to compete for the prizes. PCs are duellists, VIP spectators, event staff, or whatever.

Stuff used to spice up the scenario:
Gimmick matches - exotic arenas, special rules, etc.
Duellists with eccentric personalities
Bands playing - miniature concerts?
Party in the street or private party - sudden attack by evil wizards?
The big fancy skybox with all the rich and famous spectators
Gambling - match fixing?
Corruption in the style of the FIFA scandal
Cheating

Any ideas for a big sporting event based around wizard duelling?

Inspirations for the scenario:
The Olympics, of course
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (my favourite HP book)
The Hunger Games
Football in general (soccer, gridiron, and so on)
Pro-Wrestling

Anyone got any suggestions?

If they fuck with the teams then I can just change the outcomes. Burning Lances Vs Cat Sabor, in the real world chelsea win this match but the PC's kill off John Terry. So then I just swap the scores and with liverpool taking all the results that chelsea get .

How different would it be reasonable to assume that the physiological structure of fantasy races are from humans? With dwarves for example there's some pretty commonly stated differences like thicker bones, tougher/leathery skin, more/stronger hair, but what are some more obscure adaptations that could logically exist, and how might some of the common traits be explained biologically?

Might dwarves have a third lung/more alveoli for filtering toxins/drawing more oxygen from their underground environments? More neurons/neural receptors to more easily repair damage from toxic underground fumes/excessive alcohol consumption? Larger livers? How might a dwarf's ability to seemingly handle extreme heat and extreme cold better than a human be explained? Cold seems easier to explain than heat, more subcutaneous fat/brown adipose tissue, more blood vessels, faster heat rates, but a lot of adaptations that help deal with cold seem like they would be detrimental to dealing with heat.

What are some obscure or extreme adaptations that other races might have beyond just the obvious pointy ears, hairy feet etc.

What did dwarves descend from? Were they hunter-gatherers who spent the night in tunnel networks or were they hunters of subterranean prey? The latter would have more adaptations for digging like hands more suited to digging and a torpedo shaped body. The less often proto-dwarfs saw the sun, the more adaptations they would have for living underground.

I'm in dire need of a PNG generator to make the henchmens "in bulk" without wasting time on guys going to be killed in a handful of turns, probably en masse.
I remember to have used the eTools years ago to print beforehand lots of PNG/Monsters and printed them to use during the sessions, but yesterday I tried to start the program and it just crashes whenever I try to roll a PNG/Monster.
So, there is a working installer of this program with the expansions to get (it was abandonware for a decade, I suppose is not infringement of anything to ask) anywhere on the internet?
If not, another png-monster generator that is capable to roll them randomly? PcGen is good but it needs to do everything by hand.

I think Complete Warrior or one of the other Complete books had a tournament called "conjurers chess". It had certain rules, but it was basically a staged war between summoners, fought out by their summoned monsters. That could be an interesting tournament match: two guys, but only the monsters actually fight. Like some sort of pre-modern fantasy Pokémon or Battlebots.

I need to flesh out an adult green for my next session and I'd appreciate some help.

Adult green lives in a massive old forest, full of standard D&D creatures plus, of course, elves, who are too damn handy with bows and being sneaky. It was a harsh two centuries for you. Pretty much anything strong enough to have a chance of killing you, did try to kill you and your scales have scarred in many places due to claws, arrows, spears and occasional magical bullshit from local elven druids. For two centuries you were hunting at night, hiding over the day, became master of stealth in forest and are rather familiar with most of the forest and its surroundings. There are a few mountain ridges surrounding it and a massive moor to the north. Mountains have nasty reds living there and ancient black from the swamp you have never seen and hope to keep it that way.

Your time has, however, come. You are powerful enough to start thinking of creating a horde, a lair to protect it and a nice array of minions.

How would an adult green go about this?

Since I am a master of stealth and want revenge on the elves that hunted me for two centuries, I would try to clear to forest of their presence by whispering seeds of conflict into their feeble minds. Making them fight among themsleves and maybe even succeeding in corrupting one or two of them.

If I can get two of them on my side with promises of magic and treasures, make them the ones who guard and hide my lair, being elves they would be discreet enough and friendly looking enough to easily keep hnters away from my lair and when I have minions, they could manage them.
