How do you handle parties of mixed allignment?
Say half the party is chaotic, and half the party is lawful, with a neutral guy in the middle, and they all run into conflicting interests and their gods want them doing different things, how do you stop the party from falling apart?

As long as they're all working towards a common goal and don't get in each other's way too much things will work smoothly. The minute you allow any PvP it's gonna go to hell.
>>
Allow for arguments, conflict between characters is always interesting. Don't let it get in the way of the enjoyment, though.
>>

Let them split the party for a session.
I know that's blasphemy for a dungeon crawl, but if they each need to take care of their own thing as long as it doesn't put them in direct conflict with each other, let them. And if you like, throw in a few character specific challenges that each group can't easily do without the other. Might seem cheesy, but the old, "we can't do it alone" lesson can keep a party going together. At least until they get closer.

Come up with some strats to make necrons viable. Tell me what you think, be harsh idc.

1. Destroyer lord with staff of light alongside 6 dakka wraiths. Re-rolling 1s to wound and they are all fast meaning you can move around take objectives and pop weak targets without spending all game in CC with a weak infantry unit. The re-roll also gives a second chance to get 6s on the beamer which means an extra mortal wound. Plus they are still decent in cc and have the invuln so they are tough to move.
2. obvious blob of warriors with overlord buffing them, decent mid board holder with extra hitting and harder to kill with resurrection orb. Throw a cryptek nearby to give them a 5++ and potentially a 3+ resurrection?? dunno if technomancer and orb stack but it seems like it does. Swap out overlord for command barge for more dakka and it only has 8 wounds, so you cant target it first.(edited)
3. Essentially 1. but instead of wraiths take melee destro lord with praetorians equipped with casters and blades re-rolling 1s to wound, you can leave combat and still shoot, so best scenario is charge, deal as much damage as you can, tank one round of enemy attacks, fallback 10" then shoot again with the casters to either finish off or cripple the enemy unit, hopefully enough to force battle-shock.

4. Take a couple of Stalkers with twin heavy Gauss cannons and have them sit at the back applying debuffs to enemy units 36" away. Stack them with the praetorians in 3. after they fall back and shoot. Shoot first with the stalker, to give the praetorians 2+ to hit. Use the second one with some death-marks, deploy them in the movement phase 9" away from an important target, shoot at it with the second stalker, then rapidfire the enemy to death on a 2+ to hit. 6s to wound cause a mortal-wound alongside the normal damage. or just pile a bunch of doomsday arks behind them(edited)
for 2+ heavy3 shots
5. Monoliths and nightscythes, they can both deploy units set up on their tomb world, so you can essentially deploy your entire army in the enemy deployment zone. Deepstike the lith as close as you can and have 2 or 3 scythes following up behind it moving 20-60 fucking inches across the board. Then shoot, next turn set up 3/4 units straight away so some praetorian and 3 units of immortals, which can all immediately move and shoot, just rapid-fire niggas down along with the scythes and lith that probably wouldn't be dead in one turn. Then have some doomsday cannons sat at the back, or do 1.

The beautiful thing about the last one, is you can have a couple different types of units on the tomb world and you set them up based on where they are needed most
the only scary thing is, if the enemy manages to take out one or two of the scythes, they you're automatically at a disadvantage. you get the hard to hit roll which is good, but also the reason why this only works with the lith as well, cause it will be focused. and if i couldn't kill it with 6 lascannons in 1 turn when we played last, then its likely they will all survive. You can then living metal, drop off you're dudes, and hightail it out of there to get to max weapon range before hovering and firing at everything that gets close.

Pic is funny, but unrelated.

I'm working on something that I know is stupid, but I'm doing it anyway. It revolves around a rock-paper-scissors system of "elements". I have what I want to use, and I figured how each thing wins and loses, but I can't figure out to make a chart of it that flows and is easy to follow. Please tell me if I did something wrong.
Here's what I have:
fire
w = electric-plant-metal-neutral
l = water-ice-earth-wind
electric
w = water-ice-plants-neutral
l = fire-earth-metal-wind
water
w = fire-earth-metal-neutral
l = electric-ice-plant-wind
ice
w = fire-water-plant-neutral
l = electric-earth-metal-wind
plant
w = water-earth-metal-wind
l = fire-electric-ice-neutral
earth
w = fire-electric-ice-wind
l = water-plant-metal-neutral
metal
w = electric-ice-earth-wind
l = fire-water-plant-neutral
wind
w = fire-electric-water-ice
l = plant-metal-earth-neutral
neutral
w = plant-earth-metal-wind
l = fire-electric-water-ice

>water and ice are different elements
Go ask /vp/ why ice-type sucks balls. I'll wait.
Even if it's mechanically balanced in your game, you're limiting the conceptual breadth of an element, making it had to design a clearly ice-type monster that isn't just a white and blue animal with icicles on its back.

You could try taking this to the drawthread for help.
Prepare to be ignored by artists and/or abused by idiots and trolls trying to start shit.
If it starts an actual discussion the way this thread didn't, take it back here, or a new thread if this one dies, rather than clog up the drawthread.
I'd do it, but this post the exhausted my free time.

9v9 grid, with one side as the "attacker" ?

Or you could do a circle with arrows showing "beats", like extended Rock Paper Scissors diagrams

Neutral being an "element" is kinda odd though

Other than Crusaders, which real life societies can serve as inspiration for paladins? Came across this on /int/:

Nihang(Crocodile) or Akali(Immortal) is the current military order of the Sikhs. Their role are largely ceremonial now because of peace, but all Nihangs, men and women, are required to carry several weapons and be proficient in martial arts and horse riding.

The Nihangs wear bright blue clothing and a turban known as the dumala. When Aurangzeb banned turbans among civilians, the Sikhs deliberately wore the dumala which was twice the usual height. Their turbans carry five different associated with them

Traditionally the Nihangs are characterized by two attributes: fearlessness and being of great moral character The holy book says:
>loves all and whose ways are distinct from all
>eats only that which he earns and considers begging a sin
>in difficult times has faith and remains happy
>guards the Sikh temples without a desire for gain
>always eager to fight a just and righteous war

They eschew worldly possessions and live in Sikh temples when on the move and otherwise live on arenas that belong to their particular school.

The Nihangs have a cant of their own that is used to display boundless optimism as well as conceal their plans, being a military order.

You know, for a group that yells "Heresy!" a lot, I couldn't recall the Imperium of Man- particularly the Ecclesiarchy- having a holy scripture upon which to base their religion on. Considering they have a heirarchical organized religion and all.

From the Horus Heresy, the Lectio Divinitatus that Lorgar wrote down started the organized religion around the cult of the Emperor. But its only mention is in the Horus Heresy and not much in later 40k Media. In addition you have these bigass books Ecclesiarchy and Inquisition Characters lug around.

Have you ever run a game in the Nasu-verse or similar? Was it a grail war, was it mage shenanigans (considering the families are Mage's from White Wolf in all but name...)

Most Importantly: If George Washington was a Heroic Spirit, what would be his Class/Stats/Skills/NP. This is important, because reasons. What other figures from the Reneissance/Enlightenment could we turn into Heroic Spirits?

Oh the thread just managed to die. What a way to start a new one with a noob question like this.

I have a confusing situation in the game right now. Did I glitch the White Lion, when there's only Maul and Combo-Claw left in the AI deck and the Lion has Strange Hand permanent injury?

There are no Grab targets from last round, and no knocked down survivors either.

I guess the question is if Sniff ever turns into a Basic Action?

You mean where 90% of the time the GM has picked a winner before hand? OR the few times I seen GMs handle the PCs by playing them off each other. Which I have been in and loved BTW. Thinking about it .... The better the GM the more likely the campaign well not end in 3 weeks/meetings.

Its good to establish a soft series of calling cards associated with whatever is antagonizing the players, then have those calling cards begin to culminate towards the conclusion.

Another useful thing to do is have your big-bad open with a massive attack of some kind that should kill lesser opponents. That will help set the tone for how serious the fight is.

For example:
>group has been tracking a death cult bent on destroying the world.
>there are a few leaders of this cult they have slain who have been brought back by cursed nails driven into their foreheads.
>They later learn that these nails were created by a long dead civilization to stay the wrath of the Gods, and it is the cults goal to wage war against those Gods.
>In the final encounter, at the top of a pyramid excavated in an otherwise empty tundra, they meet the archfiend responsible.
>He is some sort of massive homunculus, pinned together with dozens of those cursed nails.
>Gives a good'ol BBEG speech, then removes a nail holding one of his eyes shut.
>The sight of his eye prompts saves against each of their stats and an a save against fear with a debuff applied for each save they failed previously.

Having that kind of setup and hamsgringing allows you to have an otherwise mundane fight that has weight. That boss wasnt particularly overpowered, though he was more powerful than anyone they had faced. His presence came from the infamy that had built up around him, the clear meaning of his form, and how much he damaged the whole party so casually.

Which of those threats are the worse?

>romero zombies
>return of the living dead zombies
>necromorphs
>infected (7 weeks later)
>crossed

>return of the living dead zombies
If we ignore that bullshit about electricity killing them, I'm pretty sure they are the most immortal things; so much so that the infection revives dead animals, even ones that have been embalmed. In one of the movies they revive a dog that's been split along its length to show its organs as a biology set-piece.

They also have human-level intelligence, just really, really want brains.

I think necromorphs could still harvest them though. So not sure how that goes.

>>54149181
Trioxin would just zombify the necromorphs.

And the fucking molecule is apparently not one to give a fuck about either fire or nuclear weaponry. A bit of a bugger that one.

When it comes to deckbuilding games (Dominion, Arctic Scavengers etc) do you prefer games with a handful of piles from which you can buy cards from, like Dominion, or games with a central row of ever-shifting randomized cards, like Ascension? Why?
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>54149099
I like how Codex does it.

You first build your "codex" using 3 mini-decks, then during play you build your deck using the cards from that codex.
>>
>>54149099
I prefer set piles like dominion or trains over an ever shifting row. The shifting row increases the randomness too much in my opinion.
>>
I prefer a shifting row with 2 player games, and sets available with 3+ games.

The shifting row emphasizes knowing what's the best option available to not only you, but your opponent(s) and choosing what can hinder your opponent and boost yourself the most.

With 2 player games, not only are you more aware of what you're opponent is likely to get, you're also more capable of knowing what they already get and what cards you could possibly get in 2-3 rounds.

With 3-4 players, that's right out and it's a random grab-bag of who knows what available.
