Looking at the experience tables of Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale, I've noticed that the XP caps for the multiclass characters are different on the two series. So which one is the correct one? BG's hard cap of 8m XP or IWD's varying hard caps (presumably to let multiclass characters reach higher levels)?
>BG2
FIGHTER_MAGE 8000000
FIGHTER_CLERIC 8000000
FIGHTER_THIEF 8000000
FIGHTER_MAGE_THIEF 8000000
>IWD
FIGHTER_MAGE 15000000
FIGHTER_CLERIC 11000000
FIGHTER_THIEF 11000000
FIGHTER_MAGE_THIEF 22500000

I'm not sure what you mean by 'correct'. If you mean which is the correct one by AD&D 2nd edition rules, then neither are since it institutes a level cap on certain characters rather than an experience cap.
The games are just adaptations of the rules overall.

She is enchanting my dick for sure.

Get your rules from rulebook, not from vidya.
Correct answer is neither. There's no XP cap, or level cap, though most books don't have content past level 20. Except for those few than only have content past level 20.

Icewind dale is 3e content converted to 2e.

Wow, those adventurers are retarded, fighting Kostchtchie in his own domain. Fucking retards, they deserve to get hammered to death.

The answer is neither. The AD&D Black Isle isometric games are adaptations, not precise replications. They instituted a cap for balancing reasons, not because the rules demanded it.

I mean, which is more balanced? A hard cap of 8m with lower multiclass levels or letting characters get higher levels in their multiclass.

Mages must always level up slower to other classes, as it gives the feeling of difficulty a spellcaster goes through to reach their current level, next to XP pool for item crafting.
