I took this photo in our apartment. I was using an old android phone i had at the time. We had decided to dress up and pretend to model. I had absolutely no idea how much effort she would put into it. The picture is not at all about the quality of the photo but instead the quality of the model.
Here is another picture from that day. I feel like she put a lot of seriousness into her posing. It was a really surprising and fun mock photo shoot.
Okay last one.
podesta? that you?
Fellow filmfag here. Today i realised im in serious need of a nice digi camera that isnt a DSLR (which i have), sort of portable, fixed focal length and nice colors. Up until today i had my old canon s90, but it just cant cut it anymore.
I dont think im able to get a x100s right now, what is a viable and cheaper option? Should i become a fujicuck? Should i fall instead for the foveon meme and get a Sigma Merrill DP2? What are other options? I dont like too much what the Ricoh cameras do colorwise, at least not for my work.

Colors are basically independent from the camera, especially when they're all using some variation of the same sony sensor. Don't buy into the memes. About the only camera I've seen that has truly unique and beautiful colors is the merrill dp2, but that's a slow, shitty camera that you will loathe to take anywhere besides your back yard.
So basically get whatever. :)

X100O (original) is dirt cheap now, get one.

Around $380+shipping used is not exactly dirt cheap :(

I liked how you drew focus to his jacket by selectively focusing on the hood with a thin depth of field.

How does the aperture work? How does it not change the angle of view when it is closed?
It does change the angle of view
>>2987105
It changes depth of field.
Why would it? It just lets more or less light in depending on how far it is opened, but that doesn't really affect the angle now does it?

Hello /p/, what is the best Polaroid camera out there? Im buying one for a very close friend who is a photographer. I have no knowledge about cameras so any advice is appreciated.
Get a Fujifilm Instax if you don't hate your friend and don't want them to pay $30 for 8 shots of mediocre film.
>>2986135
what about the Impossible PRD2500 Polaroid Red Stripe 600 Camera?
>>2986140
you'd have to be some kind of stupid to pay $130 for an all plastic Polaroid in this day and age.

They'll probably have a different type of card by then, but we probably arent too far off. In 2000 (16 years ago) the sd card was first introduced and was 64mb. The largest one now is 512gb. It's just slightly ahead of Moores law. At an exponential rate, we should have SD cards that are 128tb in just 8 years. However, that's assuming that another media wont replace it in the mean time
>>2986620
by then we could hopefully have some sort of constant, wireless, high data connection to the internet.
At that point cloud storage permits virtually unlimited amounts or storage
I'm currently shooting with a Nikon D3300, I got a few lenses for it and I'm very familiar with the camera.
My issue is that I have a few good lenses for my camera, but they have no motors on the inside of them. So I have to manually focus. It works on my friends D7200 (due to it having a built in motor).
All the areas around me that sell good lenses all sell either extremely cheap canon lenses or sell great nikon lenses that require a body motor.
So, should I get a canon (since i can use my nikon lenses on it) and buy more lenses, or should i save up and get a better body so i can buy better lenses with the added ability to actually use af.
Note: I know i can just manually focus, i do, but my issue is 1. I hate it. 2. I'm usually shit at it. 3. Im lazy 4. If im shooting a low-key subject in the studio its hard to get the focus correct.
>>2986517
Should you read the sticky? Or should you use the /gear/ thread?
>>2986517
Just get a 2nd hand d7000/d7100/d5x00
The difference in iq is negligible between older and new nikon bodies, but canons iq is significantly worse.
>>2986519
I didn't think d5x00 models had motors in the body?

I've seen some stunning photos taken with newer models of smartphones.
Will there be any point to even owning a standalone camera for 99% of people (including photographers) in the near future?
>>2986458
Smartphones have tiny sensors. That will never change due to size constraints. Their ultimate image quality will always be limited by that fact compared to real cameras.
>>2986459
>real cameras
They're good, but I doubt we'll be able to see any real advancement in our lifetimes (or at least we will be too old and senile to know how to use it). As >>2986459 said, the tiny sensor is the greatest drawback and for that it will never replace a larger sensor like in that of a DSLR.
A good example would be the photos from the Cub's win last month. On the left is a trained photographer with a professional kit, and on the right is an intern with an iPhone.
