Bought an SKS from them about 2 years ago. Pleasant transaction all around, no issues, rifle was in just about perfect condition.
A+++++++++ would do business with again
Any veterans of Afghanistan here that have experience working with this thing? Can be USMC, US Army, whatever. I'm trying to do some research for a semi-realistic game (Squad, im not a dev, just a modder), and would like to know how it was utilized. Field manuals are either old and on the M24, or just about maintenance/operation of the rifle, and video footage is limited. You don't have to have been the operator of it, any information on how it was carried and used in the field by your platoon or whatever.
>Who was it issued to?
>Were they just regular infantrymen with some marksmanship training?
>What exactly was the role of the weapon when it was brought into the field?
>I suspect it was just used as a designated marksman rifle that had better range and penetrative abilities, also some explosive fragmentation with the Mk 211 am I right?
>When it was used, was it used more as a static tool that wasn't really brought on patrols and just for shootin from a firebase, or did guys hump it out into the field to pick a fight with Taliban?
>If/when it was humped into the field, how did the guys who carried the rifle go about this? I know an M240 gunner, which is a comparable weapon I suppose, would have that as his only weapon, a few belts on himself and then squadmates carrying some extras. Did the .50 cal guys carry an M4 with them, or did they carry just the .50? I imagine carrying the two rifles would be a manageable load as long as someone else carried all the ammo, or am I wrong?
I fully expect this thread to get no replies, but might as well try. Thanks.
I was EOD and every unit I was in had M107s. We had them for specific anti-IED/ordnance reasons. We got marksmanship training with them and practiced with them pretty regularly. Other units would come to us in regards to them because we usually had more time with them than almost anybody and armorers who had actually had experience with them.
M107s are actually pretty rare. I never saw them outside an EOD or special operations unit. I suppose some recon platoons might have them, but a normal infantry platoon doesn't usually have them.
They are big, heavy, and since you need to be fixed to fire them with any measure of effectiveness (I've fired them unsupported for lolz and trust me you will not hit what you're aiming for from standing or kneeling). Because of that they are not a functional patrol weapon. A DMR can be used on the fly and carried the way you carry a normal rifle. If somebody is carrying an M107, it is usually disassembled in a backpack while they carry an M4 to fight with. If you're carrying an M107 on foot you have a very specific reason for doing so- taking it to a fixed position to set up and use, but you aren't planning on using it when on a patrol and fighting on the move.
In trucks, we carried the M107 assembled and ready to go, but that's because the back of MRAPs had enough storage space to tuck it into while keeping it out of the way.

I tend to think people who are anti-gun can be easily flipped with a little firearm education and range time, but then I read shit like this. How do you counter it?
>>34269433
You don't, stated facts to a liberal and got banned with no response. You can't win if they don't listen, just convince people middle of the line and out vote the fuckers.
>>34269433
THEY make a good point. They say that domestic abuse victims are at the greatest risk of retaliation at a point where their abuser may still legally buy or own a firearm. Thus, we should expand the law to cover this period of time with the same restrictions that are imposed after the situation has developed.
What's your response to that? It's your turn to construct a well-reasoned argument based in fact, and have sources available for any claims you make that fall outside the purview of "common knowledge", i.e. the sky is blue, donald trump is president of the united states, kansas is a state, etc.
>>34270257
>>34269433
Personally, I would argue that this is a good reason to expand the law in the way they propose, but if we're going to restrict a civil liberty we need to write protections into the law to ensure that it is not abused. Call it a compromise. We can agree on the ideals, but since neither one of us has the legislative or other legal background to write such a law, the conversation kind of ends there.
Picture this situation.
>A new material is created
>It has a threshold of effective protection being able to protect from high caliber small arms but not from melee weapons such as fists and swords.

/k/ommandos, my local shop has a Chinese SKS going for $350. It's in superb condition, has the original bayonet on it (I'm in NJ) and it comes with 25 stripper clips, the sight tool, and a Chinese pouch rig. Is it worth it?
Pic not related
Yes that's worth it. SKSs have been going up, 350 with all those extras is pretty good.
Yeah, that's totally worth. 25 stripper clips is a fuckton, man.
>>34269142
Heard mixed things about the Chinese ones but 350 is a good deal for one. Remember guns are a liquid asset, and the price on that will only go up.
So we've debated on the best TRUCK GUN... but what is the best BIKE GUN?

what movie is this from? Siqq BIKE GUN
hi /k/. I have my CCW class sunday to get my permit. They didnt give us to much information. Just basically and address and bring ammo.
How much ammo should I bring? I was thinking like a box of 9mm for my hk vp9.
>should I wear my Kevlar vest?
It conceals under neath my shirt and i am concerned about inexperienced shooters when we use live ammo. Some probably never touched a gun before.
Would it be frowned upon?
>>34268884
you should bring at least 1000 rounds and about $300 to tip each person in the class ($10/ea should do). As for a vest, you should really bring a plate carrier as well as you kevlar. They probably wont let you get your permint on your first try, it takes most people around 6 attempts. Good luck!
>>34268932
thanks anon i'll be sure to do exactly what you said and bring everything you mentioned
A box of 50 is usually enough if you plan on just shooting the drill and not practicing. You getting shot is not going to happen, but if you already have the vest then why not wear it anyways?
Not sure how much shooting you need to do for the test or your specific state requirements, but my CCW shooting test was ridiculously easy. I wouldn't worry at all, I think only 2 people out of 15 missed a shot. Some 80 year old dude that probably had parkinson's (no joke), and some girl with a $50 snubby revolver that had shot only once before.
whats all the hate with the Hi-Point? I've shot mine and the grouping at 25 yards is just as good as my .45 and my .22 revolver. os it just hated for being THE go to ghetto blaster?
Also, guns that get hate for no reason.
ugly getto blaster
They're fine, just hideous, ungainly, and unpleasant. Most people that want to carry get something more feasible than a solid block of zinc with a 9mm hole in it so it's ignored by those buyers. Hate is too strong of a word; most people either deride them or are apathetic.
>also because shit like this is their whole marketing effort
