So me and a friend both work for the same company at different locations and very recently his location was robbed at gun point. He told me that the perp pointed the gun at him for 30 second and he couldn't figure out if it was fake or real.
Since I'm a rifle guy and not a pistol guy can you guys give me some info into what I need to look for in pistol barrels to determine real from fake.

Real handguns have metal slides. Airshit is complete plastic.
You could just shoot him and ask questions later

Those pouches are so thick, could you even prone like that?
Hey, /k/. I got a weird question for you.
I work at a boarding school in the US for international students, and one of the most common questions I have from incoming students is "can we go shooting guns?"
See, most of these kids are Chinese, which means they've never held a gun before, or really seen one except in very rare circumstances. I'm not 100 percent against it as a concept, but my main job is safety, and to be honest, these kids are idiots. We're talking "I've seen one eat glue because he thought it was a sauce" idiots. Academically brilliant, but so inexperienced that it's somewhere between hilarious and horrifying. Point: I'm not putting a loaded weapon in their hands.
BUT I'm more than willing to familiarize them with the concept of shooting, and safe weapon handling. So I was thinking of picking up either a few bb or airsoft guns, I'm just not sure which.
Thinking that .177s (either bbs or pellets) are way more fun to shoot at targets, and much more accurate, but airsoft is a) safer if they decide to be idiots and shoot themselves/each other, and b) safer if I decide to LET them shoot at each other.
At the end of the year, if I can get a few of them actually trained and passing some kind of test, I might take them out to a real range, but just to start...
If you had to train a bunch of sheltered, video-game obsessed, glue-eating retards how to shoot, which route would you go?
Don't "train" them. They just want a tourist experience. Give them one. Take them to a range in small groups. Let them fire a couple of different guns. Let them snap a bunch of pictures. That's it.

How old are these kids?
>>34266714
This, or alternatively do nothing becacuse it's much easier and fuck Chinese in general.
Let's discuss this and similar concepts

Are they really that fierce and badass as media portraits them?
Do they all wield Khukuris from the same maker?
>>34266420
Small, generally quite polite, absolute demons of soldiers.
Win all the competitions because they train specifically for them - can't be seen to come second.
SNCOs and WOs are absolutely fucking terrifying. Had the joy of being reamed by the RSM of 2RGR when I was in Brunei. Least enjoyable experience of my adult life, and I've had several prostate exams.
>>34266420
They are a bunch of dumb overrated pussies but people think they are mystical warriors because of "muh khukuri" even though a khukuri has no relevance in today's conflicts
>>34266420
Not too popular with british troops thanks to their "ghost soldiers" and alleged cheating during examinations. They are also more expensive to recruit and train than other soldiers which is not ideal when other regiments are being gutted thanks to budget cuts.
What are your opinions on multicam?
>>34266312
Ugly and soulless, but it works decently and is a good choice for a military that intends to deploy to multiple environments.
I'll never understand why militia and 3% type people buy it when it is not optimal for their specific environment though.
>>34266312
>militia and 3% type people
Cost, anon. They're the type of people who believe one piece of kit should do everything. This makes sense because they're not preparing for any specific mission and only buy things based on the SHTF mentality. That's why they like ARs so much.
>>34266382
A military might deploy to a jungle, forest, desert, or mountain range environment with no notice.
A "SHTF" situation isn't going to see a militiaman or 3%er operating far from home. Investing in an environment specific camo makes more sense.
/k/, does hazing exist in special forces units, or are they too professional for that? if yes, is it as prevalent as the army?
also, for the Russian military, i know that dedovshina is a thing, but does it also exist in GRU or FSB units?
>>34266119
Yes. It is necessary to break in the greenies (green as grass new guys)
Yes.

>>34266119
There is little shit like blood wings and blood crabs that I can tell you still happen religiously on the down low.
Special Forces training is essentially an extended hazing ritual.
Russian units haze people even harder than western units.
Found one of these local for $480 driveout. I've kinda had a boner for them for a while... talk me out of it, /k/.

I need some boots for hot weather. Recommend me some. I want them to pass for smart casual wear though, so no straight up military boots.
Pic related; had a pair of Brashers which served me very well, but they still werent great for hot weather.

https://www.navytimes.com/articles/surprise-cruiser-shiloh-sailor-presumed-overboard-and-dead-discovered-hiding-on-board
>A sailor from the cruiser Shiloh whom Navy officials said fell overboard last week, triggering a massive search-and-rescue effort, has been discovered on board.
>Presumed dead after going missing June 8, Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) 3rd Class Peter Mims reportedly hid himself in one of the engine rooms, according to two sources familiar with the situation.
>It is unclear how Mims survived a week in the engineering space or where he was hiding. He will be flown off Shiloh for evaluation soon.
>Mims' disappearance prompted a massive, 50-hour search-and-rescue effort off the coast of Japan that included Japanese Coast Guard and naval forces.
>Helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft from the carrier Ronald Reagan along with a Navy P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, the destroyers John S. McCain and McCampbell, and the Reagan itself all assisted Shiloh in the search for the missing sailor, according to releasse from U.S. 7th Fleet during the search.
>Japanese Coast Guard ship Kudaka also assisted in the search. A Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ship and a second Japanese Coast Guard ship assisted early in the search that combed more than 5,500 square miles of water off Japan.
>Navy officials from U.S. 7th Fleet did not immediately comment Thursday about the status of Mims.

This why you don't eat a whole bag of mushrooms on duty. I know they can't test for it but for Christ sake wait til you have 2 weeks leave. 1/8 is plenty while you are on duty

>he found a decent hiding spot in the engineering department and was able to sneak food and water in a ship with more than 400 sailors
This shouldn't really be surprising.

/sci/ here, would you be interested in a laser gun or improved TASER?
>>34265527
An actual sci-fi tier laser gun would be great. I always pictured star wars blasters as more of a "hybrid" weapon since they seem to have some physical aspect to their impacts too.
A turok2 style taser would be sweet though.
>>34265527
I could go for a laser.
I personally would prefer if an improved taser existed for law enforcement purposes. For personal use I would definitely take a laser gun though.
How do we make America's Military better?
Basically just let McMaster and Mattis do what they want, and keep writing the checks.

>Regain
You don't need to regain something you've never lost. Dominant military from WWII to present day.
>>34265395
The U.S. military is fine, it's their job to win battles and they do. Throughout U.S. history contact with the enemy has been generally really fucking one sided with a few exceptions.
The problem is the people of America pushing their politicians to press unrealistic goals onto U.S./NATO military officers. The American people and politicians in their infinite hubris manage to completely misunderstand war and the nature of the commitment required to win.
The soldiers will is strong but there is no civilian will power to back it up. While enemy fighters are inferior to NATO troops middle eastern civilians have more will power than western ones.
You are in situation related. In your car you have a handgun. Semi auto, chambered in one of the popular calibers.... 15 rd capacity and an extra mag. A few cars ahead, 2 camel fuckers get out with AK pattern rifles and start killing innocent people. You don't stand a chance in a direct confrontation since you lack a primary weapon. What would you /k/unts do in order to survive?
Hard mode: you have to stop the massacre.
