I've been really into physics and looking to devise some theoretical superweapons that utilize more exotic properties of matter.
Me first, sounds simple but utilizes an interesting property of matter once it hits light speed.
>start with 30 foot sphere of diamond

Finally found one of the limited edition white AUGs. It's an AUG A3 M1 with the factory 3x optic, to be specific.
This is my first AUG, or bullpup in general. What advice can you guys give me? Are magazines cheap? Anything I should know?

You probably didn't fuck up. If it works, which it most likely will, you got yourself a pretty nice ar, granted you could of gotten yourself a basic bitch ar for half the price. That's probably a pretty expensive upper. I did the same thing, bought a super expensive ar right before the election because I was nearly 100% sure Hillary was going to win. Turns out the gas tube wasn't properly loctite'd and my gas tube came loose without me knowing for the longest time. Still don't know if I fixed it but I made sure to loctite those screws in place. Just my luck I guess. Pic relate.

Shit rifle with shit specs in a decent caliber but with such shitty specs that it can't handle true SHTF situations.

Mediocre rifle with such tight specs that it can't survive without regular depot-level maintenance and with shitty ammo that is not suitable for SHTF scenarios.
What you want is Either a VEPR or an SKS. Both are tough and with specs that fall into the appropriate ranges to remain functional with out armorer/gunsmith support and the ammo can be reloaded with black powder (good luck making/finding guncotton or cordite innawoods).
Alternatively, consider an extremely simple and rugged autoloader chambered in .30-06.

I plan on visiting a gun store for the first time as I am shopping for a handgun. I would like to know how I should act. I'm mostly interested in holding a few pistols. Can I go in and ask to hold like 5 different guns? Can I ask to dry-fire them? What are some major mistakes? I'm aware of general firearm-handling and safety rules.

ask instructor if you can pay a bit extra to try a few more
