What are the best SHTF guns? What would you choose?

Also, I want to but a full-sized handgun for home defense and/or SHTF. I have $2000 to spend but it doesn't have to be that much. My biggest considerations are reliability and build quality. Also I want it to be able to take a suppressor. I thought I would be hearing suggestions for the MK23 or P226, but lots of people are saying Glock 17. Thoughts?

The best gun would be the one most available to you

Best shtf guns would be any firearm of common calibers around your area

Get one in a common caliber, and a model that is common in your area. For me, it'd be either a Glock 17/19 or an M&P 9/45.

Whatever you get buy a parts bag with two (2) of each part that commonly gets broken or wears. More of the small cheap shit. (Pins, extractors, screws, devices to unscrew said screws, etc.)

I found a good deal on a used rifle on armslist. The guy gave me his driver's license and a timestamped picture of the gun is pending.
If he legitimately has the gun how should I proceed?

Most of us agree that it is an orbital testbed much like the ISS external testing rack, except it's testing sensors/materials/propulsion away from prying eyes.

Could other spy sats from say Russia/China take a peak at the X-37 while it's deployed if it were within line-of-sight of it's orbit? Spy sats are supposed to pretty much look straight down so I'd imagine it would cost precious fuel to re-orient the satellite to look at the X-37. Is this a viable strategy for other nations to "get a look" at what it may be testing?

It would be possible, and has sort of been done before. NASA had the NRO use one of the KH-11 satellites to image the underside of the Space Shuttle to inspect for damage during its first flight, so it could be done if they were close enough.

Nope. It is for mission of retrieving objects from orbit. After retiring of Shuttle USAF don't have one so they fastrack such capability after NASA withdrawal.

It seems like the MP7 would be easier to handle and reload, no idea if there's any appreciable difference between the two meme-DW cartridges.

Finally saw this on the second to last day of it being in theaters. I was apprehensive since I kept hearing it as Anglo revisionism from /tv/ and /int/.

Was really glad I went, they pretty much got the British perspective down perfectly. What little they showed of the French showed they were the ones fighting to keep the British safe, and the only British men in combat were the RAF which is very accurate.

Got pretty fucking sad "Gibson" drowned, though. I don't feel he deserved it, saved their asses many times. He wasn't a coward in my book.

Not OP but wow. Never realized that. Yes, you're correct. They're always referred to as, "the enemy" and are only actually seen once in a VERY blurry 3 second frame; when

So did they make a bunch of cowards who got their shit pushed in look heroic?

Christopher Nolan's a good director. He could probably angle cowards who got lucky that way. Hitler's first and biggest mistake not to crush them.

No-guns here, but long-time lurker. I'm a huge Western dweeb and have always wanted a single-action revolver for plinking. What advice would you give in looking for a first? I've looked at Ruger, but I know that often people on here recommend staying away from the modern iterations of certain firearms. Are there any specific models I should look at, what years, what to look for used, etc.
General revolver thread as well.

The Single Six isn't a bad place to start if you don't want to pay the merchant's price on anything old and fancy (that may or may not be antique garbage that you can't shoot and is only worth owning for its appreciation in value).

That said, looking for a first gun, you may want to consider something that you can either reliably conceal, or one that you can't conceal but is maximum fun on the range and decent home defense. I bought a Makarov which sort of does both, maybe.

The gun pictured is being offered to me in trade for my Glock 30 S. It is a Sig p220r. I want a full-sized gun as I will not be CC'ing. I don't know what's up with the slide. Would you trade like this? I need help because I don't know anything about Sigs or this gun.
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>34890368
It's a way nicer gun than your glock. The slide is factory but super embarassing. If you can live with that it'll shoot like a dream.
>>
>>34890368
see that rusty grip screw?
if you are going to do the trade, take the gun apart and make sure that cancer isn't spreading
>>
>>34890368
Thats actually a factory slide they made for a while. Yeah, it's pretty white trash but the P220 is a great firearm. If the round count on it isn't terrible you may want to consider it. Take the slide off and examine the frame's rails.

The only thing a 19 has over a 17 is the grip length for ccing. If your that mad about it just get your grip cut to 19 length.

so i've been looking into a multitool. It would be my first (and if it works as expected, only) multitool so i want it to lean on the heavy duty/have everything you could possibly need side.
My research has driven me to the SOG Powergrab (pic related) , what i like about it is the dedicated plain edge blade that opens with the knife closed, the bit screwdriver in the center, and the super cool opening action. TBBH, i dont need the pliers that much, but 1-i'm OCD as fuck and both sides opening exactly symetrically is austismgasm for me 2- it would kinda be like having a balisong to play with without having to get a balisong.
However, i heard kind of concerning stuff regarding SOG around the internet and i wanted to get your oppinion on both SOG in general and the Powergrab in specific.
Also if you think my choice is dead wrong, i'm open to other suggestions. Before finding out about the Powergrab, my idea was the Leatherman Surge (for me, it's appeal over the powergrab is still the replaceable tool heads and blades), other options also appreciated. I don't like the gerber style flick open action, though.

I have the Surge and love it. It's endlessly expandable because it can take any t-shank saw blade, which means you can do basically anything with it. Go with one of them, and you won't regret it.

Daily Reminder:

>People can still get sub MOA groups out of Savage Axis guns with handloads, and people still spend $2000+ on a custom bolt gun

>M&P, Glock and HK trade ins have gone for 10,000s of rounds with no issues but people still spend $2000+ on custom 1911s that still have problems

>A chinese knock off 870 for under 200 bucks will run basically forever, but there are people spending $3000+ on custom benellis and berettas

Investment be damned richfags cant be stupid enough to think there is anything practical spending that much money on just looking good.

Save a bunch of money and get to spend the rest on ammo, magazines, and holsters.

On top of the fact because of the extra ammo I buy I get to laugh when I shoot better than anyone else at the range even though they have either Decked out Glocks or Super custom Revolvers and 1911s theyve shot about a handful of ammo boxes through.

>>34888535
Wew lad. I was with you right up until the shotguns. Do you know how hard it is to find a cheapshit gas operated shotgun that isn't shit? It's hard to find one that runs reliably, let alone one that is as smooth as a Benelli. A shotgun is probably the only thing I'd want to spend more than 1k on the base gun. Git gud poorfag.

Who makes the beefiest HBAR?

I'm looking for something along the lines of a Colt LMG's barrel. Basically looking to pick up a heavy barrel that will help absorb recoil and heat. I'm planning on outfitting the rifle with a large single chamber muzzle brake, and a 2.5-10 power scope. I want to make a setup that's ideal for drilling steel gongs within 600yds.

at 600yds any "drilling" you'll be doing won't push a standard barrel in terms of dealing with heat.
