My advice would be just go with a 16" version of your upper while you wait on a stamp. It's not _that_ different from a 14.5 but will allow you to experiment with the configuration. Once the stamp comes, you'll know exactly how you want to set up the gun and you can cut the barrel or just replace it at that time.

Just measured. With B5 Sopmod fully extended, to the end of an A2, the OAL is like 31.75 on an 11.5" upper.

So I probably goofed by going to the end of the MD instead of the crown, but in the end the ATF didn't care.

M193 doesn't reach frag velocity even at the muzzle of a 10.5" though? Sweet spot to me seems to be 11.5" At least you get frag velocity with M193 out to 75 yards or so. And yes I know of course if you have an SBR or 5.56 pistol you should have some 75/77 grain ammo, but I'm just saying in the event that you don't or something.
