/k/ I have a stupid question.
Why are black uniforms so popular with the military and police? What environment is it supposed to blend into? Or is it more of a status symbol thing?
>>33203783
It's psychologically imposing and designed to stand out, not blend in.
>>33203783
It helps with concealing amongst urban youth
>>33203783
If they wore green or camo, people would assume they were army. And most people in our part of the world don't want armed soldiers in the streets.
Is laser eye surgery worth it?
I ask because I am interested in joining the army. Been doing lots of research, and made my self as fit as can be, only to be shown the door almost immediately as my eyesight (uncorrected) is not good enough.
In addition I ride motorcycles and do outdoor sport and my glasses can be a big hindrance at times.
Thats what they suggested to me.

>shown the door almost immediately as my eyesight (uncorrected) is not good enough.
>my glasses can be a big hindrance at times
sounds like you answered your question already
>>33203046
They issue you glasses at boot, your recruiter must be some kind of tard or you're blind as a bat, but since you drive motorcycles I would ASSUME you can see well enough to join.
I got my laser eye surgery done for free while in the airforce, definitely worth it just not to have to worry about glasses or contacts anymore. And these days it's not as expensive.
Do you carry a spare mag? I only carry 1, wondering if I should keep another in the car.

I recently started shooting cap and ball.
I failed to account for the fact that pyrodex is equivalent to blackpowder by volume and not weight.
I've been accidentally double charging and firing it. I only found out because I complained about my walker replicas recoil to my dad.
I was firing equivalent of 120 grains of black powder. Its designed for 60. Somehow I didnt lose a hand.
So uhhhh, uberti builds em really strong I guess.
>>33202531
I like putting scopes on military bolt action rifles.
Scopes just make those dam things look so good.
I post a lot to get the attention of one of my older friends, though I know he'll never talk to me again.
what does /k/ think about non-modern weaponry?
im finally coming to the end my my education and joining the job market, and im considering threating myself to either an off the shelf sword of some description, an antique 1796 or similar saber, or perhaps some kind of custom made dagger from a good smith.
what kinds of things do you own and want, /k/?
>>33199995
went full weaboo and bought a true katana. i was taking karate and using training with one. in retrospect it wasn't worth the money. as the odds of actually needing a folded steel sword probably not high on the list of possibilities.
I do own an english longbow i bought after hunting with a compound bow and crossbow for a while. I really like going outback and shooting my longbow.
>>33200078
>I do own an english longbow
may i ask what weight?
>>33200097
55lbs i know it's a little wimpy compared to what "pros" do, but i don't plan to go to war with france anytime soon.
Anybody else here collect bullet cartridges? Pic related used to be mine, it's gotten quite a bit bigger since I took this pic.
Went to a gun show in Albany, Oregon today and got quite a few more including some pretty cool really old ones. I'll post pics of them later, but here are the new ones, and I'm just typing what's on the label:
SMC 38-70 (also marked with FLT. BR. PRI. "u" TIN SP FN)
Rem-UMC .35S+W
Rem-UMC .45 Auto rimmed
Western Cartridge Co. 32 short rimfire
Early Shot 44-40 (this one's kind of interesting, looks like a birdshot round with a paper bullet filled with pellets)
.32 short rimfire (also says "made for bullet board, no idea what that means)
.30 short rimfire
Winchester Super Speed .348
Peters .41 Long Colt double action
Kynoch .375 2 1/2 nitro express
Union Metallic Cartridge Company 40-82 win
I also got an old 20mm round of some kind. The guy said it was some WW2 Italian antiaircraft round. The bottom under the case is marked with the following, starting from the top and continuing clockwise:
BPD
29 | 1X | 39 (these are on top of each other instead of side by side)
40 (the 4 is bigger than the 0)
92 (9 is bigger than the 2)
Will post pictures in a few hours. Show me your collections, fellas.
I collect alot of ammunition, I tend to go Full autist and buy as much of a particular run as I can, Like I bought like 180 rounds of French and Austrian made .30-1906 just to have. I also have 360 rounds of M1906 Ball .30-1906 made by the US.C.Co. in 1917. Dont have a pic of most of it cus no Camera lel
No, but I have wanted to collect a cartridge from different calibers. You can't buy individual rounds so I haven't bothered.
There are people at gun shows selling loose ammo? III don't remember seeing that at the shows I've been too, of course I was more focused on the guns and knives themselves at the time.

OP here, bumping, be back in a bit
Should I get this vepr? Is there a better ak out there I can buy? What does /k/ think of the veprs?
>>33198871
Yes you should get it. It's a sturdier reinforced version of the AK. It will outlast you and your grandkids.
The cons are it's a little heavier. It won't take regular AK furniture but there are people making furniture for the VEPR (I'd leave it as is).
>>33198871
What are the pros/cons between that and a SAM7R?
>>33199634
one is vepr, one is not
Why isn't this used anymore?
>>33198870
Mounted comabt is not a thing anymore.
>>33198870
I'm pretty sure most conscription countries still use lanyards, at least the commie ones

Ultimately his biggest mistake was letting Amsterdam live after the attempted assassination, if he'd killed him right then and there Monk would have never gotten elected, the dead rabbits would have never reformed, the gang war would have never happened, and Bill would still be alive.
I'm on my way to Zim for what will become the best /k/ Rhodesia thread ever. I'm doing an interview with some former rhodie scouts and some other fun stuff, including securing a few thousand yard of real rhodie camo.
bring back a FAL

Not allowed to import into the US. Banned from import by name.
I'm very surprised you actually managed to contact any who were willing to speak to you.
They are not the most open bunch in the world.

whats bad about it?
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/mar/03/adler-a110-shotgun-ban-could-be-lifted-after-firearms-law-is-quietly-amended
So as far as I can tell, the Guardian and the entire Australian left are pissing themselves because it is (maybe) about to become minutely easier to purchase some kinds of shotguns and rifles. In the meantime it would actually become harder to purchase other shotguns (i.e. ones with a magazine larger than five whole rounds).
>“This new NFA has expanded the access to high-powered long arms and opened up a whole new Australian market for rapid-style lever-action firearms. Sadly the new NFA signifies a move away from strong gun laws and a move towards increased gun ownership.”
>rapid-style lever-action firearms
RAPID-STYLE. CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP.
Did they even fucking read the NFA update? Its actually harder, they've decided to tighten the screws even more in the update.
I've been politically active, I've written letters, sent emails and yet I am still shit on. Every update relating to guns both state and nationally have made it more difficult for a legal gun owner, to the point where most might stand back and go "this is too hard".
In a span of twenty years this country has turned in to a leftist paradise. Just leave me the fuck alone to fondle my funs.
It makes no sense to a law abiding gun owner anymore.
Fuck the system
I'm having a boating accident.
>>33179211
>non rapid lever style lever-action firearms
Does the action have to be purposefully gritty and hard to cycle?
Australia would be a dank place to live if not for the gun laws and influx of chinks desu.
>>33179718
ayy lmao it already kinda was.
This whole "rapid fire" buzz word shits me to tears.
WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT EVEN MEAN??!>?!?!?!?!
If i can move my bolt action at a fast speed because I'm well practiced, does that mean it is rapid fire?
Death by a thousand cuts. 10-15 years from now we'll only be allowed access to single shot .22's.
