Why isn't this used anymore?
>>33198870
Mounted comabt is not a thing anymore.
>>33198870
I'm pretty sure most conscription countries still use lanyards, at least the commie ones
it hinders the ability to eat some poundcake
They are. Its just more a cop thing (particularly in japan for whatever reason) since anybody mil who is going to actually use a weapon is not issued a pistol.
>>33198946
>(particularly in japan for whatever reason)
In such a nogunz country, it would be a big fucking deal if a cop lost his gun.
>>33198946
Yeah but it's always like this, this is shit.
>>33198870
This is good.
>>33198986
>In such a nogunz country
atm they have too much game destroying shit and too few hunters to keep them in check. they were thinking about getting foreigners to help cull the animals. really a sad country.
>>33198870
I think the bongs still use something like this
>>33199007
Or at least I saw a video of bong soldiers training where his glock was on a chest holster and had one of those cords attached to it and to his body
>>33198870
Navy uses something similar when sailors guard their ships. Sometimes it's attached across the chest. Other times to the waist.
>>33198870
God Zulu is such an amazing movie.
>>33198870
But it is.
>>33198870
>Pistol lanyards
>TFW you are the only person at work to attach a pistol lanyard to your personal barcode scanner to make it easier to catch when dropped
Im not sure if that makes me smart or fucking lame. People who noticed it thought it was a good idea. My gun friends thought something was wrong with me.
>>33200365
POG tier Navy VBSS does stupid shit like tgat
>>33198888
chiggity czech'd
>>33200340
That's not from Zulu, anon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pQi8gX47sE
idiot cords are all attached to the holster these days.
uniform jackets rarely have epaulettes these days.
>>33200529
maybe you should try watching a video before you post it dumb ass
>>33199007
Old style lanyard is literally a lanyard and it would be too long (and hazardous) to have a dangling rope on your waist.
>>33200574
Only if you're belonged to low ranking peasants
Higher ranked officers still had them
>>33198870
Apparently they were used to choke officers on occasion.
Or at least that was the rumor, so they stopped using them.
>>33200664
my bdu and dcu field jackest were the last field/combat uniform pieces issued with epaulettes.
>>33200382
I think this is Marine Recon BN or Force on a MEU
>>33199007
So, I don't know if it would be stupid or not, but what about something akin to a retractable dog leash? But probably a wrapped cord instead of just the regular fabric.
Like you could slam your hand down on it and it stops letting out, in case someone grabs it or it falls while you're moving. It would be less prone to snagging on things in the environment, too. Seems like a better option than having it hang from the shoulder or the waist, even the stretchy one in your pic.
Thoughts?
>>33198870
I've seen a recon Marine run past with his pistol being dragged along the ground by the lanyard. It's still used, just not mainly by average people.
>>33200382
Someone's never been on a ship during maneuver.
Lanyards are absofuckinglutely VITAL. Admittedly, it's pretty much the only time they are, but I was glad for them.
>>33201281
There's a story there that needs to be told.
>>33200674
No, they just wore them a different way.
>>33200636
That's why you attach it to your shirt epaulet.
>>33198888
Outside of military police, conscripts are never-ever issued handguns. That shit is only for full-time military personnel.
t. conscript at a former Soviet republic
>>33198870
Officers dont lead lines anymore, ergo there is no need to secure them via string.
>>33198870
I had one issued with an M9.
Here's a photo of my M9 with related accessories including lanyard.
>>33204591
Point is, people back then didn't have access to plastic and those springy coil type lanyard wasn't really a thing until mid 80s
>>33198870
Nobody wants to be choked by their pistol when walking in the woods.
>>33204608
Stories. NOW
>>33205537
I don't really have any to tell. Conscription is essentially US boot camp, just three times longer and way more boring.
>>33204809
nice
>>33204809
Bought my own holster, never got a mag pouch. Took my lanyard off because it kept getting caught on things and chucked it. Got yelled at by platoon sergeant so made another out of 550 cord.
Good times.
>>33200580
Not that anon but it's the same movies as op's pic.
The four feathers takes place in roughly the same time period.
>>33201259
That actually sounds feasible
>>33204809
God that's sexy,
I'm such a slut for Berettas.
>>33198886
They deployed mounted troops to the mountains of Afghanistan where vehicles cannot go just recently.
>>33199029
I lived in Japan for ten yrs, this is far from the truth. You're a moron who doesn't know shit.
>>33201367
Had a MARDET kid catch his toe on a coaming durind a security drill. He fell on his face while his rifle clattered across the floor (we were against the passageway sides) and stopped in front of us. After the "wew, it didn't go off" moment we laughed at the Marine and at the dirty look he gave us.

>>33198888
nice quads
>>33198870
Just wait another 38000 years.
>>33198870
there is no denying the aesthetic qualities of that uniform ensemble
>>33206636
when did they transistion to the brown uniforms in the desert? pretty funny because a lot of the ones where theyre in red uniforms they dont address the heat but a few with brown uniforms they have a bunch of out of water scenes in india.
>>33201259
Those are quite common, just without that lock feature which sounds fairly useless.
>>33207070
>when did they transistion to the brown uniforms in the desert?
Around the time of the Boer War, I think.
