Carry a spare mag in my pocket, doesn't take too much room so it isn't a problem. I don't bother with any spares in the car, but it doesn't hurt. Getting a spare mag stolen isn't a huge deal if something happens, and I could see how if you were cornered or something it could give you an extra edge to getting yourself to safety.

I enjoy carrying the SK in 9. I would only carry the full sized P2000 in .40, I feel that the .40 would be too snappy with its light polymer frame in a subcompact firearm with minimal grip. That said, others will argue 'hurr bitch wrists' but in the end you want that 10+1 since you're limited on ammo anyway. Even with a spare mag, at that point might as well carry a P938 if you're going to have 8 rounds in the mag.

Yes. For two reasons.

1. Malfunctions. Should you suffer a malfunction it's a much smarter idea to insert a fresh magazine instead of using the same magazine the gun had the malfunction with. Now it's POSSIBLE that the original magazine had absolutely nothing to do with the malfunction. But better safe than sorry.

2. "Firepower". I carry a G19. Round in the chamber (of course) with the magazine topped off along with 2 G17 magazines. If 50 rounds of Federal HST 147GR +P doesn't get me back to my car or out of the bad situation I'm in then I'm likely fucked anyways.

I carry a revolver, so no. There's a pretty low chance you'll ever need to fire your carry piece to begin with, and then there's an even lower chance you'll fire more than a few rounds.

Your response will be that you should prepare for the worst situation possible, and my response to that is, what brand of helmet do you wear to be prepared for a tree branch falling on your head and killing you? Because that's far more likely than being attacked by a squad of murderers.

I carry two spare mags, three in total.
Two 6 round mags filled w/ hollow points, and one 7 round mag w/ FMJ 124 grain. As far as car guns go, I have two spare guns in my car. One is a CC for when I get off my job (they don't allow CCW's on our person or in the building) so I can throw it in a pocket, and comfortably carry. Other pistol is a Glock 34. Never know if you'll ever need extra firepower (especially when you work in a not so nice neighborhood), I'd rather be over-prepared than under-prepared. Reason I don't carry my primary CCW in my vehicle is because it's expensive, and the two car guns combined price is still several hundred bucks lower than my main CCW. Plus should the need somehow arise, I can arm two other people w/o disarming myself.

TL;DR
carry as many mags as you feel comfortable with. Statistics show you'll only use about 3-5 rounds in a shooting. I feel better having more.

I always carry 2 reloads. It's not inconvenient in any way, so why not? I just wear a double mag carrier on my belt. isn't uncomfortable at all, and I feel a bit more at ease knowing I've got more ammunition if I need it. might be worth mentioning.... I carry OWB and just wear a cover garment. mag carrier and holster are both fobus paddle so very, very convenient and easy to just grab them and slap them on, on the way out the door. cover garment is non-issue during summer. it gets crazy hot here, (90+ with 100%+ humidity) but wearing a cover garment made out of the right material actually keeps you cooler than just a t-shirt.
