Anybody else here collect bullet cartridges? Pic related used to be mine, it's gotten quite a bit bigger since I took this pic.

Went to a gun show in Albany, Oregon today and got quite a few more including some pretty cool really old ones. I'll post pics of them later, but here are the new ones, and I'm just typing what's on the label:

SMC 38-70 (also marked with FLT. BR. PRI. "u" TIN SP FN)
Rem-UMC .35S+W
Rem-UMC .45 Auto rimmed
Western Cartridge Co. 32 short rimfire
Early Shot 44-40 (this one's kind of interesting, looks like a birdshot round with a paper bullet filled with pellets)
.32 short rimfire (also says "made for bullet board, no idea what that means)
.30 short rimfire
Winchester Super Speed .348
Peters .41 Long Colt double action
Kynoch .375 2 1/2 nitro express
Union Metallic Cartridge Company 40-82 win

I also got an old 20mm round of some kind. The guy said it was some WW2 Italian antiaircraft round. The bottom under the case is marked with the following, starting from the top and continuing clockwise:

BPD
29 | 1X | 39 (these are on top of each other instead of side by side)
40 (the 4 is bigger than the 0)
92 (9 is bigger than the 2)

Will post pictures in a few hours. Show me your collections, fellas.

I collect alot of ammunition, I tend to go Full autist and buy as much of a particular run as I can, Like I bought like 180 rounds of French and Austrian made .30-1906 just to have. I also have 360 rounds of M1906 Ball .30-1906 made by the US.C.Co. in 1917. Dont have a pic of most of it cus no Camera lel
>>
No, but I have wanted to collect a cartridge from different calibers. You can't buy individual rounds so I haven't bothered.
There are people at gun shows selling loose ammo? III don't remember seeing that at the shows I've been too, of course I was more focused on the guns and knives themselves at the time.
>>
>>33199015

OP here, bumping, be back in a bit
>>
>>33200290
Yeah, there are usually dudes selling old ammo and they usually have loose rounds. If you can go to a antique militaria show, that'd be your best bet.
>>
>>33199015
I keep a good example of the calibers of each guns I own.

I thought about buying some military surplus of other calibers that I don't own. But then I'd get one bullet, and a bunch of others I can't shoot.

>>33201702
Yeah, that is what I was saying earlier. Regular ammo is expensive enough without buying a bunch of ammo for guns I don't own. I would like to have a little display with different calibers so when a customer asks, "what is the difference between a 243 and a 30-06?" I can show them the display. I may print out a picture of them anyway for the same purpose.

OP here, and I had to look around a little for mine. Usually there's a few guys selling it. All the ones in >>33202090 I got from this old former East German army guy who has a big box full of loose rounds he sells for 50 cents apiece. He wasn't there yesterday when I went but everything I got in >>33202327 and >>33202337 was from this guy who had a bunch of these loose and was selling them in the little baggies with labels like you see there.

As for the thing to show customers, you can get pic related as a big poster and it shows everything in life size.

All plastic shells appeared in the 1970's and I believe ACTIV was the last brand available. I've got some others by Herter's, Eclipse and Wanda. Wanda's tend to be the most well-known in the collector community but they were plagued with quality control issues during their production. Eclipse shells were all plastic except the primer but the ACTIV shells had a reinforcing ring in the head.
