I'm looking to get a good ar15, price range 1500-2000. Is the Daniel Defense M4A1 the best I'm gonna find for less than 2 grand?
For gods sake build one.
You could have an absolutely top of the line AR for that money. Nice trigger, Aimpoint, the works.

That said looking forward to a few custom holsters so I can start carrying the full size FNS-9
Is there any reason to buy a gun other than fun?
>protection
The vast majority of gun owners have never and will never fire a shot in anger. Unless you live in a place with a very high crime rate, the chance of needing a gun is so small that it doesn't outweigh the cost of having it.
>hunting
It's almost always cheaper to buy meat.
>>33211344
I had to pull a pistol once.
It saved my wife and I from a very bad situation.
>>33211344
Better to have a gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
I NEED MY GUNS SO I CAN SCARE TEH GOVERNMENt
Why do people refer to the Germans in WW2 as Nazis? Wouldn't that be like referring to the Americans as Democrats?
>>33210430
Now that I think about it, you're right.
>>33210430
Because people are stupid. Remember, there are lots of people out there that think America defeated the third riech, when in actually the USSR did 90% of the work.
>>33210430
Because the Nazi political party at the start of WW2 was so all-encompassing of every facet of life that they earned the moniker in the same way every Russian/Ukrainian/Belorussian in 1960 was a Soviet--they either believed the political line or they played like it because they'd be drug out back and shot if it was apparent they didn't.

My favorite gun. Overbuilt and heavy, like my women

Heavy tank thread. MBT mongrels need not apply.
Much like the battleships, they are weapon system too cool for the gayness that is 21st century warfare.
The last of the heavy tanks, props to the soviets for sticking with the concept longer than everyone else.
Commies can eat shit.

Pic related, T-90 was in perfect working condition after taking a non-penetrating ATGM hit which set fire to the external machinegun and knocked out some vision ports. Another ATGM hit, this time the driver reportedly took injuries, and so the commander and gunner bailed (without the driver). An hour later the driver was rescued from the tank, and they /still/ left the tank to burn. It took hours for the fire to spread to the ammo, and only because the hatches were left wide open after the crew ditched. Oh, and as if to make it even better, the T-90 didn't even have it's Shtora active, because they didn't think they'd encounter ATGMs.
So to summarize, a modern T-90A was lost when it was still in perfect fighting functionality, because the crew didn't use a fire extinguisher - or better yet, just closed the fucking hatches. Same shit happens with Iraqis in Abrams all the time - they take a non-penetrating hit and completely bail the tank, leaving a perfectly working tank for ISIS. To go even further back, the Golan heights during the Yom Kippur War - Israelis in outdated Centurions, massively outnumbered by Syrian tanks. Who won? The Israelis, of course.
So tell me, why the fuck do they kept getting given modern tanks worth millions if no one's even going to bother trying to train them?
>T-90A
>Modern
>Gun stabilizer from the 70s
>Some obsolete laser warning system
>Essentially a T-72B with some gadgets hastily welded on.
The only goof thing about it is the ERA, but it doesn't even cover the hull sides, which is how most vehicles get killed.
>>33208799
>Dumbass country wants tanks
>Pays millions for them
>They get destroyed
>Dumbass country wants more tanks
This is called a 'successful business practice'.
Because once the tank is built it isn't worth anything, it's just a resource drain. Selling them to someone else not only recoups some cost but also saves you maintenance time and money.
Military hardware is just a resource drain unless you're actively using it or deterring with it.
tfw fell for the M&P meme
I don't understand. Is there something wrong with the gun? Is it wrong you?
>>33208569
Better than glock brand glock, highest selling gun in the US.
Whats the meme?
>>33208587
Nothing, he's just a dumbass.
>>33208605
The fact that it's really popular is the meme.
See, the thing with meme guns that people don't get is that they are meme guns for a reason. Usually, that reason is because they're pretty good, so they get a pretty good reputation, and they get pretty popular.
When you put meme in front of something, that gives it a negative connotation. But it's not in the case of firearms. Most meme guns, be they Glocks, M&P, AR15s, 1911s, etc are meme guns because they're pretty good guns.
not budget handguns but just high quality, war pistols.

How about aluminum filled bullets for tasks that require long range capabilities?
Aluminum has about one fourth of the density of lead, therefore if same caliber is maintained the bullet's would have to be a lot longer to maintain the same weight.
This longer length leads to a better ballistic coefficient, this means that the bullet will maintain more of its speed and therefore will have more power left when it reaches the target, it will take less time to reach the target, and also due to the larger overall speed it will drop less.
>>33207491
Wtf op? How am I suppose to eat with science now?
>>33207491
I've been saying this for quite some time, too.
Not to mention, a longer bullet has greater leverage forces which, with proper weight distribution, can be used to induce yawing more efficiently.
>>33207491
Wouldn't fit in the magazine.
what if m16 was a bull pup
>>33207480
Mechanically impossible.

What if you thought for two seconds before talking.

Hey /k/, I want to know what movies show the worst depictions possible about the war in Afghanistan. Bonus points for movies with retarded firefights.
I'll start with a tough one to beat, the Hurt Locker
>>33205999
>a near perfect movie
>>33206019
It made me want to kill myself and him
friend was in Iraq for 7 months and loved the hurt locker and said it was the most accurate iraq/Afghanistan war movie he'd seen. he never saw combat if that makes a difference. i liked it just fine.
So long story short while disassembling my Springfield xd9mm I shot my self in the thigh. The 124grain hydrashok managed to miss both the artery and bone but possibly hit the nerve. Please realize I have a hole in my leg, I've already best myself up. Keep your negativity to yourself I'm not here looking for sympathy I'm just sharing my experience because not everyone has been shot.
Ask me anything
why wasn't it pointed at your face
>>33205826
sympathy on 4chins. I doubt you even shot your self.
>>33205826
Are you shitting me? You better not report it or you'll contribute to the gun control statistics
Why do you even keep a loaded gun around the house? Use the lock on the front door if you're so paranoid. The noise will give you the warning you need to load the gun.
>Back to weapons safety 101
Thoughs?
do all glocks have that bevel on the front? just saved me 700 bucks
>>33205623
No, just the subcompacts (26s,27s...) , and apparently now the 19M and 17M
