What is the best bolt action rifle available today for static defense of a small outpost or farmstead?

Why don't militaries give front line soldiers full body bullet proof armor like Juggernauts from call of duty or bomb disposal units in movies?
Too bulky and stands out too much or what?

Money, weight, training, and various other common sense reasons. Now go to sleep, you have class tomorrow.

Where does one learn how to properly defend oneself with a knife? Is there a proven martial art related to it that's not totally mall ninja?
Would I be able to find a good training facility or do they not exist?
>>33560411
Yeah, it's called getting shot in the face 101.

You don't really defend yourself with a knife, you kill the other guy before he can kill you

It's pronounced "minay"
They were original designed to fire the Minie ball

Relative to a 16in naval gun?

Pic unrelated, fortunately.

I have PTSD but I wasn't in the military.
I went to the Monarch Theatre with my parents and afterwards we walked through this alley where we were held up at gunpoint and the gunman asked my mom for her pearl necklace. My dad refused and the gunman shot them both leaving me the sole heir of his company and his billions of dollars.
Post interesting World War 1 stuff
FUN FACT:
There were almost NO black soldiers in the Western Front that did anything remotely useful besides guard supply caches and get shot for deserting!
>>33559927
well the french used them, though really just them, and primarily as cannon fodder
Fun Fact: Britain bribed a notable British scholar to fabricate a bogus story about Germans melting the bodies of dead soldiers, women, and children into paste to make rations and soap.
This same bullshit story would later be used at the Nuremberg Trials to condemn the POW labor camps.

Alright, /k/omrades. Im moving to Alaska for a few months and am looking for a rifle to hunt/protect myself from big animals whilst innawoods. Thinking about a Henry 45-70 or cheap bolt gun. Trying to keep rifle under 500 but have a special place in my heart for a 45-70 henry. Any suggestions?
>>33559690
get a shotgun, retard
>>33559719
This. More versatility, cheaper price, and you can achieve the same result with a 12 gauge slug as a 45-70
>>33559690
If you want a 45-70 just because you want a 45-70, get one, but >>33559719 is right. You can pick up a Mossberg 500 for around $300 easy.

5.56 revolver. Standard and compact models. That'd be fun.
Anyone got any Uberti Cattleman revolvers? They are fun as fuck.

i was thinking about getting a Blackhawk in .45LC
should i do it?
>>33559251
I got the .22 "largest capacity revolver in existence" one. After a lot of hiccups, it's pretty fun. Would still recommend a single six over it though.
>>33559251
No, but I have an Uberti 1860 Army.
Where can I find [patch]?

Hey /k/
I am looking to get my first AR and I want to get a rifle with good durability. I want to run a rifle with a red dot and I have gotten a lot of advice and recommendations. Here is what I narrowed it down to:
1. Non-free float rifle with FSB, fixed rear iron sights, and Aimpoint PRO. My top choice I am looking at is BCM mid 16 mod 2.
2. Free float barrel with Aimpoint micro red dot and folding iron sights for max weight savings. Definitely like the DDM4V7.
I am looking to use this gun for personal defense.
I want a rifle that will have max reliability and durability against murphy moments. I was partially concerned about Daniel Defense after seeing the rail shift from AK operators. I wasn't sure if this was DD attachment problem or a reliability issue in general for free floated rails (I am not sure of how BCM KMR rails hold up to abuse).
Any advice would be appreciated.

>BCM KMR rails hold up to abuse
BCM KMRs are notoriously weak. Multiple videos of people bending the shit out of them. Granted, the guns will likely still function as long as the gas tube isn't bent but still...the KMR is definitely not a rail to consider if you want a super durable setup.
>>33559218
Thanks for the reply. Is it the KMR-A or magnesium KMR that is causing issues with strength?
