Of course I'm biased, but I think the knife defense we do at my HEMA club is quite good.

People wore knives in Europe for a thousand+ years... it's hard not to believe the stuff the weaponmasters came up with in all that time is not practical or effective. West is the best in every other arena of warfare, why not self-defense against the knife?
